obviously waited until Saturday's match was over before announcing. So they are clearly putting more money in. I wonder what he's there for - he's a bean counter by trade?
Bristol Rovers have announced the arrival of Martyn Starnes as Chief Executive Officer.
Starnes is currently CEO at Plymouth Argyle and will remain with the Pilgrims while he serves his notice period.
He will formally begin his position at the Memorial Stadium on July 9.
After previously working for Swindon Town and Yeovil Town, Starnes joined Plymouth in the summer of 2013.
Club President Wael Al Qadi said of the appointment; “I am delighted to welcome Martyn as the new Chief Executive Officer of Bristol Rovers Football Club.
“We have been looking to appoint a permanent CEO since acquiring the club and I believe that, in Martyn, we have found the right one.
“I have known Martyn for a long time and I am confident he will fit in perfectly at the club. He brings with him years of experience and professionalism and shares our vision of developing the Academy and engaging the community.
“I wish him every success in helping us move the club forward to fulfil its potential.”
A qualified accountant by trade, he was appointed to the Argyle board of directors.
An Argyle statement said: “The Plymouth Argyle board of directors has received notice from Martyn Starnes that he intends to stand down as the club's chief executive officer.
“The board is engaging recruitment consultants to aid the search for Martyn’s successor. Meanwhile, Martyn will continue in his role during his notice period.
“The board would like to place on record the gratitude of everyone associated with Plymouth Argyle for Martyn's contribution to the club during his time in office and wishes him well for his future ventures.”

I was told that Mr Holtby has now gone and permanently so maybe messers Gorringe and this guy will do much of what he used to do. Yes, could be wrong but comes from a close neighbour of our ex chair.

Have worked with Martyn in the past when we were both at Yeovil Town.
Not the sort of guy to shoot his mouth off, just a quiet efficient bloke who loves his football. Had one arm tied behind his back at Huish Park with the (lack of) budget there so will be interesting to see him in a role where he has a little more leeway. Think he might still live somewhere near Yeovil so commuting not as much of a problem (though having done the opposite journey now for nearly twenty years), it's a howler of a road to travel on each day!!
TL:DR He's a good bloke, I'd have him back like a shot.

I drove it around a month ago and ALL the places where you could possibly give it some hard right foot, are now full of cameras and speed traps

F*ckin good riddance. Mate, I am far from being his mate but only once did we argue and that was when the FFSC sponsored the Hartlepool game and we were treated pretty badly to say the least. I did see him take cash but also saw him hand it directly to TW. From what I have been told he is carrying the can over #Pitchgate. That’s all I’ve been told. Can I ask why you feel so, or seem to, angry with him ? It’s ok if you don’t want to go into it & I won’t push it. Hope you have a good week. I had my Meds stolen from my home while I was in it, in the wee hours of Friday. Trying to get my head around it

I tried working out the other day how many times I've driven it and it must be 700+ times now. And yes, you are spot on with your other comment sadly. From my house in Oldland, I can alsmost get to Reading's ground quicker than Yeovil despite it being 35 miles further.

If Evidence can be proven and is in the public domain then it is fair game. If it's true he's gone, the club can do far far better but I will say his mc in hospitality was decent. That probably came at a price, who knows? I can't prove what price that came at, but confident some innocent well meaning folk were exploited. I hear he's hardly missed. We can move on in a more professional way, some things are consigned to the past and rightly so.

So (Dwane Sports) Hani Al Qadi is the owner. And Wael Al Qadi is the President. And Martyn Starnes is the Chief Exec (from July). So what the devil is Steve Hamer going to do? And what exactly DID Ian Holtby do wrong? And where the duck has (Cast In Stone or Not Quite So Sure) Kevin Spencer gone?

So we have a President a Chairman and a CEO.
Which one do we blame when things go wrong?
All very confusing...or perhaps that's the plan.

KS is in the USA (on holiday) Happy to hear it. He appears to have de-registered his Cast In Stone / Not Quite So Sure @russianrebel account. Hope to see him back on Guzzler under whatever name.

There's a graveyard somewhere for stadium design and construction experts, our new CEO had best make sure he doesn't silently end up there. As for what Hamer does, well, he gets his knickers in a twist when he's not allowed into the Directors' lounge at Swansea, he's a big fan of near post flick on corners as-per Wimbledon Crazy Gang, any more than that I've got no idea. Maybe he'll take a wrong turn and end up in the 'Experts' graveyard' as well?

Good point, expect matey to disappear into the ether one day to join the others who entered with fan fare and left with bus fare.
