....18th in league 1. Or 3rd division, if you prefer.
After dc latest interview, he's here because of us.
It's lovely hearing what we want to hear, in some ways with pride and passion for our club....but we must be one of the most efficient clubs in the league with such a small deficit.
More importantly though, which are we more like: Waitrose? Aldi? Poundland?

You've opened up a massive can of worms with this one. Every supermarket and retailer will probably get a mention on this thread in time !

Given Steve Hamer's comments last week it has to be costcutters

'lots of negatives at the club the last couple of months'
'we're a backs to the wall club, and it looks like its staying that way at the moment'
'nothing's happened, and it's got to happen'
'fantastic supporters is one of the reasons I'm staying around'
'I think we need to go down the proven route now', regarding players
'we have to raise our salaries if we are going to keep our better players'
sounded to me like he was making an effort to put a cheerful tone on some very downbeat content

Bristol Rovers need to raise salaries if they want to keep hold of their best players, says manager Darrell Clarke.
Clarke has been frustrated by progress both on and off the pitch this season, with the club 18th in League One and plans for a new stadium stalling.
"We're still in the bottom six for the salaries we pay players," said Clarke, who confirmed Rovers are in talks with striker Billy Bodin over a new deal.
"We spend within our means and I can't imagine that changing."
He told BBC Radio Bristol: "Until we can get overachieving again, like we've done in the last couple of years, the place will be a little bit disgruntled.
"We have to raise our salaries if we're going to keep our better players, I'm afraid. But the realistic thing is we are where we are as a football club."
Clarke said he has only spent £135,000 on players since taking charge in March 2014 and that he has drawn up a "Waitrose, Aldi and Poundland" list for the January transfer window, which he will present to the board. Rovers have lost nine of their past 10 games in all competitions and Clarke admitted the run of poor form had created a negative atmosphere and affected him.
"I feel for our supporters," he said. "I don't mind saying openly that the only reason I'm here now is for the supporters.
"We're a backs-to-the-walls club and it looks like it's continuing at the minute. And while I've got the majority of the Rovers support I'll stay around.
"They certainly feel let down because nothing has happened - and it's got to happen."
Clarke's side will look to improve their form on Saturday when they face Rotherham, who themselves are without a win in six league games.

Well he has spent more than 135k hasnt he. He is using the net spent argument surely?
If you sell 1 player for 300k and buy 3 for 300k for example you have still spent 300k on players

Or is he saying he hasn't signed some of the arrivals? Either way its odd and he's not here for the supporters, he's here for his mortgage.

DC's comments show a fractured club and that he's forming a coalition with the players. This is worrying since when the owner of a club is being criticised by the players and staff it could lead to a scenario where the owner equally feels disenfranchised and justifies winding down operations.
Look at Leyton Orient. Look at Gloucester City.
When the chips are down this is where the manager earns his money and Darryl should be up for the battle rather than considering the best way to surrender. Not good.

Agree with much of this.why are we washing our dirty washing in public? Why aren’t all concerned talking about it in private and trying to sort it out. Perhaps they have and it’s come to this. I would much rather see DC concentrating on the playing side and there’s plenty to put right at the moment, getting defenders to defend and attackers to score would be good to see. I’m presuming this particular piece is to do with BBs likely rejection of the contract offer. Now DC has to step up to the mark and get these players winning again. Blimey, this stuff is almost all self inflicted! Mind you after missing 6 weeks this season I’m looking forward to Saturday and Rotherham. UTG!
