Perhaps BRFC would have paid DS rent for the UWE had it proceeded. What gave you that idea? Wael made it clear that it was important for the FC to own its own home, or at least, that's what I think he said?

I think that the training ground is owned by Dwane Colony ? I always wondered if Rovers would have to rent the facilities from them.

So when DS are BRFC's landlord and HAQ wants to sell he can sell BRFC and retain DS, and make money. I hope I'm wrong and DS exists to grow BRFC and make it a viable business concern capable of footballing success. I want to believe, but actual evidence of this is still not forthcoming.

My reply related to your comment about Rovers paying DS rent to use facilities at UWE. But to be fair, not everything said when the news broke about UWE not happening made a whole lot of sense to me.

But to be fair, not everything said when the news broke about UWE not happening made a whole lot of sense to me. You're almost there my friend. I keep going back to how UWE seemed genuinely mystified as to why BRFC withdrew after publicly affirming progress. Nobody ever seemed to know what broke down between BRFC and UWE. I suggest that it did not. I suggest trust broke down between BRFC and DS, between WAQ and HAQ. WAQ said BRFC should own their home; I can only take him at his word. HAQ gave no such undertaking. Then UWE did not proceed, for no good known reason. Being tenants of DS/HAQ, losing our security and our asset is a good reason. WAQ seems like a reasonable person. Thanks.

They were looking for outside investment, or that's certainly what it sounded like when they said that they were meeting with potential investers in London. 2. I kind of get that freehold is better, but it's all in the detail, get a long lease, or a restrictive covenant on some part of the stadium or access to it to. I don't know, I've just woken up and am distracted anyway as I'm writing some 'Starters for 10', I've given it no thought, there would have been ways to secure their position.

Top 6 for home attendances (8,886 2017-2018), but bottom 6 for the salaries we pay players. How the f*ck are BRFC losing circa £1mil a year??? Allegedly by employing numerous "industry specialists" and having a really super Development team. Bollocks to that. We should be paying a little more in salaries and should STILL be able to operate without incurring losses. Darrell Clarke (I assume) refers to a net spend of £135k over 3 1/2 years. Conference to 10th in Division 1. A minor miracle and up there with what Gerry Francis achieved. Darrell Clarke: "I don't mind saying openly that the only reason I'm here now is for the supporters". This is open warfare now with the owners. "Back me or sack me". If he's sacked Box 1 better get some extra security in. It appears we are at an impasse. The only positive I can take right now is that Darrell is trying to create a bunker mentality where it's his team vs. the world. What a horrible mess. The only way out of this is for Dwane Sports to find a buyer and just f*ck off. Soon. Not going to happen any time soon though is it You have more chance they will just sale our only asset and go back to Jordan.....

'lots of negatives at the club the last couple of months' 'we're a backs to the wall club, and it looks like its staying that way at the moment' 'nothing's happened, and it's got to happen' 'fantastic supporters is one of the reasons I'm staying around' 'I think we need to go down the proven route now', regarding players 'we have to raise our salaries if we are going to keep our better players' sounded to me like he was making an effort to put a cheerful tone on some very downbeat content Exactly how I heard & understood it. It sounded pretty obvious that DC is pretty sick of it right now and is a winged manager. I can’t help but feel sorry for him as he’s very much not being given the backing to do the job as he’d like to do it. Bad times

There has been a significant deterioration in the relationship between DC, Hamer, WAQ and Hani.
DC has the demeanour of a man trying to get himself sacked. Why would he walk with a 5 year deal in the bag?
Things are going to get really, really messy.

Why would he walk with a 5 year deal in the bag? Things are going to get really, really messy. The question, for me at least, could DC possibly be trying to get sacked so as to get paid up ? Personally I would not begrudge him this and I believe you are right. There is absolutely nothing positive coming oitmof the club and we are being given cryptic messages, non payments and a clear change in tack from the owners. If yhe Al Qadi family believe they are showing themselves to look professional then they are so wide of the mark and personally I am sick of it. Yes, maybe they didn’t expect the successive promotions but you have to speculate to accumulate & they are certainly not doing this. Their reputation, locally, is going to Hell in an handkart and fans that don’t read forums are now starting to wake up. We are in deep 5h1Tand there is no hiding from it. Wael can sit with the fans and enjoy it but I am afraid that unless the money man wakes up then we cannot expect ANY manager to progress when he is not being given the back up. The feasability study on UWE came back favourably we were told so unless that was an outright lie then I don’t buy into it was a bad deal but that thenowners just didn’t and don’t want to go ahead with it. There is just too much evidence to show the total 180 by the owners. So much for our brave new world.

The only way out of this is for Dwane Sports to find a buyer and just f*ck off. Soon. Agreed. But it becomes less and less likely with each passing week as the debt pile continues to grow. Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and walk away.

Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and walk away. Losses? These are Bankers with a charge on the Memorial Stadium. They can still walk away with their money intact. Slight problem is that would involve them selling the Mem and Bristol Rovers becoming nomadic. I totally agree though - the debt grows on a daily basis and every day we become a less attractive proposition. I am 99% convinced they are trying to find a buyer. Obviously they can't stick a "For Sale" sign up at the Mem. - as forced sellers don't attract good bids. Wael have to wait and see what happens. Looks like the Waels have fallen off.
