I think a 6000 capacity rail seating stand with £10 tickets would be the best way to create an atmosphere. That and beer. Corporate warm-up leaves me cold. F*ck the Thought Police.

Left to his own devices Mr Day would probably present us a playlist of the morbid mediocracy of Deacon Blue. The fact is him and DJ Lance have to present music that is suitable for more of an Auntie's wedding scenario. A set of hard house techno dance floor bangers might give 10% of the crowd apoplectic delights as they get their jam, but at least 80% will be left covering their ears. It's not a disco, it's some music before a football match. For me, the ones you can sing along to work best, so Smokie and Alice, Hi Ho Silver Lining, The Liquidator, Amarillo, Runaway etc are all fine for that gig. Jump Around by House of Pain was a laugh as well, but I understand the Safety man had objections to the Jumping Around. Dear Doctor ....that's very harsh nothing wrong with Deacon Blue seen them five times in Bristol my requests Real gone Kid, Fergus sings the Blues, Wages Day, Queen of Hearts, Twist and Shout, Loaded, Dignity & the Hipsters etc
To be fair best music I have ever heard at a football match involving the Gas was at Morecambe.

Free Rosettes, rattles, scarfs, half time scoreboards, rose bushes behind the goals... its the retro way forward together with some stand up from Jasper Carrott.
The Mem would be enhanced by all this

If we're not going to play ska, then first choice should be Bristol based music such as Roni Size.

JUSTICE4HOLTBY CAMPAIGN is now being taken a stage further. Some fans refusing to book hospitality meals etc. Who is refusing to book / canceling? Do you have any names? The facebook group " We want Holtby back" was set up by Chris Brown. Here's what he said yesterday: "The solution is simple: everyone who has booked hospitality for future games should phone up the club tomorrow, ask for the new Commercial Director and tell him you want to cancel your booking #Holtbygate" The group can be found on a search, and it's also been discussed on the other groups such as "Bristol Rovers Appreciation Page" and "Bristol Rovers Fan Zone".

I've only used the hospitality in the East Stand on a couple of occasions, but it was clear Ian was in his element and it looked to me as if it was a part of his job he loved - he revelled in it.
The only negative for me (and this is very minor in the grand scheme of things) was that he couldn't stop himself mentioning them down the road - declaring how much bigger our hospitality was to theirs. I'm there to watch the Rovers, couldn't care less about the other lot, and found it pretty crass, especially knowing their plans - I guess he hasn't been able to use that line since last year!
It's all very well wanting to be more professional, but there is no substitute for passion. Think about your favourite TV presenters and they all spoke with a passion for their subject. Ian was passionate about this part of his job and is passionate about the Rovers.

Full circle back to the point I tried to make (badly) yesterday, you can bring in super duper marketing guys with their nice shirts and well trimmed beards, but will they actually 'feel it', or will they be like our Chairman who probably couldn't even tell you why some Rovers' fans won't go into Ikea or point to Glenfrome Rd on a map?

He's passionate about something my friend, and that's getting his mates cheapy deals. Which, btw the club lose revenue on.
Hence the uproar.
Take a look around the stadium, it's his job to manage that, not to mc at corporate events.
If you're honestly proud of our new disabled shelter amongst other things, these are the duties of a stadium manager which is quite honestly a joke!

I am not sure anyone is proud of the new disabled shelter but at least it is something more than they had for the past 20 years which could have been done relatively cheaply under the old board(s)

However I dont think we can criticise the club for trying to make changes for the better. Some will work, some wont, and they wont last long. Better to try and shake things up than keep the status quo. I would imagine the new commercial director will be going through everything. I have no idea if Ian Holtby is doing 'mates rates' and I wouldnt accuse him of it. If he or anyone else was though, the new CD will sniff that how pretty quickly As the saying goes "Better to try, and fail, than not to try at all" and we havent always tried have we?

Oh, I agree; just stating how I've found Ian as MC. Plus we don't know if there are is anything else behind making this decision. When it comes to people saying they will cancel hospitality, or not attend any matches, until he's reinstated - well ... let's just say I disagree with them!

Which do you reckon is more likely?

Ian might not be happy, doesnt explain what has actually happened though No disrespect to Chris Brown, but either front up and tell us the story if he knows it or go about doing it properly without the insinuations that he has been shafting and have people jump on the bandwagon who probably know as little about what as happened as the majority of fans
