Couple more quotes from Leeds Journo on twitter
'the feeling at Elland Road seems to be that Cellino is ready to settle on Clarke if Clarke wants to come. But nothing confirmed atm'
'Evans back at work as planned today. Leeds and Rovers been negotiating compo. for Clarke but it sounds like Leeds want to get this done'
It's looking like tomorrow or Friday could be another sad day in the clubs history. I really do hope Wael & Hamer have a decent plan of who they want as a replacement.

If Darrell hasn't even spoken to Leeds yet because they hadn't met our conditions to speak to him how can compensation already been agreed for his release ?

my guess is rovers set out a required amount of compensation that leeds would have to pay before allowing him to talk to them?

Why prevent him talking to them before agreeing compensation, it doesn't indicate a very adult approach to the negotiations but I guess that just might be me but that could suggest to Darrell all we think of him is the amount of money we can get for him.

the outset of talks began with Wael and Co insisting on a compo' package before talks could begin... if you are not prepared to do that then just take a walk. this to me is just someone "sounding out" a candidate for the position.if you were serious then you would know that some sort of recompense would have to be paid..so fair play to the rovers on showing that they do believe in their man, and that DC for now [it seems!!] is the way forward

Better that than him agree terms with Leeds and then be denied a move because Rovers cannot do agree compensation.

Leeds step up new manager pursuit, told compensation figure for No1 target – report
26th May, 2016, 7:27 AM
By Alex Stevens
Leeds are locked in talks with Bristol Rovers about a compensation package for No1 managerial target Darrell Clarke, according to a report.
Rovers revealed on Tuesday morning they have turned down an approach from Leeds for Clarke and that they have offered their 38-year-old manager a new three-year deal.
But the Yorkshire Evening Post claim Leeds are continuing to push for talks with Clarke after identifying him as their No1 target to replace Steve Evans.
It is said the the Elland Road club are expected to bring Clarke to the table by meeting the demands of the newly-promoted League One side. Compensation for the Rovers manager is expected to be in the region of £250,000 and the two clubs have been haggling over the structure of staggered payments which United will commit to if Clarke agrees to replace Evans as manager.
Rovers have attempted to fend Leeds off by offering Clarke, the boss who has led them to promotion from the National League and League Two in the past two seasons, an improved three-year deal at the Memorial Stadium.
It is reported that Clarke is firmly at the front of the queue for a job which is still officially held by Evans.
Controversial Leeds owner Cellino is abroad in Italy and said on Tuesday that he had been in touch with at least one alternative candidate.
“I’ve not decided about the manager,” said the Leeds owner and chairman, as quoted by the Mirror. “I’m in Italy now meeting another before I decide.”
Nevertheless, Clarke has been installed as the heavy odds-on favourite to be the new Leeds manager.
The betting odds changed earlier in the week after it emerged that MK Dons boss Karl Robinson had rejected the chance to become the new Leeds manager after holding talks with owner Cellino.
Meanwhile, Evans is in line to become the sixth manager to be dismissed since Cellino took over the Yorkshire club in 2014.
The Scot has been left hanging by a thread since Leeds’ season ended over two weeks ago and the owner’s comments make it clear he will be sacked.

Whether DC stays or goes I don't think he would be able to blame job insecurity at BRFC post Al-Qadi ownership. Obviously as a fan I read what I am fed, I don't claim to have any insider knowledge, but the Board have not interfered in the playing side over the 4 months. What they have made are Board appointments that are a clear statement of the ambition. A chairman who has steered the rise of Swansea. We need a new stadium - we get the man who project managed Wembley. 2 immediate post purchase statements were- we don't need the Sainsburys deal for a new stadium. We will tackle each division we are in but there are no 3 or 5 year plans -They sought to take pressure off the manager and team. They have publicly backed DC 110%, not in the usual manager under pressure gets Board support, but when he was under no pressure. In summary DC appears to have the dream job with the dream backers - a well financed club with ambition and a new stadium on the way. A club that had its worst nightmare 2 years ago and is now shooting up because of the managers skill and judgement to date. A chance to build on the foundations you have laid, with the love of the fans and players. A club that has seen its attendance figures literally double in 12 months. I am not sure DC would throw away the golden ticket but he might use the approach to strengthen his position. As the Latvian says, Hamer didn't steer Swansea's rise. There seems to be this myth about him that he is an experienced football man - he was chairman of Swansea for 3 years, a lot less time than Higgs was chairman here, and although Swansea gained promotion under him, they were immediately relegated back (after he left, to be fair).
Swansea's rise didn't start until 2004, triggered by Lee Trundle.

In each of the 3 seasons or part seasons DC has managed us he has got off to very slow or even disastrous starts. In his first 8 games he got us relegated to the conference when it shouldn't have been difficult to keep us up. How would a chairman like Cellino have reacted to that? In our conference season after the first 7 games and an appalling display at Braintree we were in 15th place looking like we were more likely to be involved in another relegation scrap than challenging for promotion. How would a chairman like Cellino have reacted to that? Last season we again got off to a very slow start, especially at home wher we only won onc league game before mid November and had been hammered at the Mem 4-1 by Newport County and dumped out of the FA Cup there by Chesham. How would a chairman like Cellino have reacted to that? If he goes to Leeds there will be a high chance that a similar slow and disappointing start would happen. How would Cellino react to that?

A great response to the Yorkshire Evening Post article from a poster named AC1972.....
Dear Darrell Clarke,
Just make sure you get a copy of the 'Watermelon Handbook'. Then all should be well! Ahem!
Here is the abridged form.
1. You shall unreservedly love, defend and support Uncle Messi. He is infallible…even when he's wrong. 2. Don't worry about pressure to get the right players; good old Uncle Messi will do that for you. It's only your fault when it goes wrong. 3. If you are a family man that's lovely, because you can have Christmas together. 4. Make sure you buy some nice flower seeds that plant say mid-October for when you start on gardening leave. 5. Don't worry about tactics or formation; again Uncle Messi is there to 'help' 6. One of life's secrets is balance. Don't be too bad or too good…Uncle Messi doesn't like either. He wants success, but it's all about him and you can't take 'da love of da Lids fans' away from him. 7. Don't worry about players suddenly appearing who you have never heard of. Serial B & C are veritable goldmines! A couple of training sessions & you will know all about them. Don't worry about paperwork; the club seems to have its own special way of dealing with eg transfer payments and (multiple) agents slithering towards UM's office. Oh yes, don't EVER mention things like Tax, VAT, boats, ER & TA, pies, forward planning etc. 8. Don't worry when UM doesn't answer your calls immediately. He brings a new meaning to 'cell' phone! Leave a message. He is a very important man, so has lots of lawyer meetings. Possibly he could be away some time. 9. As soon as he starts to insult you, dust down the old suit for job interviews. You will get a visit from someone else – UM is a sensitive soul and doesn't like goodbyes – to say that you are stuffed. Probably means that there is a presser that afternoon and they need your locker cleared. 10. Anyway, welcome to Planet LUFC and enjoy your stay. You say you've never been on a rollercoaster…well here comes the ride of your life! It will be neither long nor boring. Any questions…always refer again to point 1.

Objectively I just don't get it! We all know what a great job DC has done for us. However to a club with a rich history like Leeds I don't understand why they are looking at someone who has one year's experience (and that awful bit post Ward) of managing in the League and got a team to 3rd in L2. It's a huge gamble and if I was a Leeds fan I'd wonder what was going on. You are correct! I think Leeds fans are wondering what is going on and have been for the past 2 years.

If DC decides to join this farce, we can go back to calling him Trigger.
