There has been a flurry of betting activity in the last 24 hours for Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke becoming the next manager of Championship side Leeds United. At the time of writing, Clarke is now the third-favourite for the vacancy, which is the same price as Steve Evans remaining in charge.
MK Dons manager Karl Robinson remains the outright favourite for now, although his price has started to drift. Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan is a name which continues to be mentioned to the vacancy, whilst today Evans admitted his frustrations at not knowing his Elland Road future.
It is certainly no surprise that Clarke has started to be linked to other managerial vacancies. Although Bristol Rovers fans won’t be keen on seeing their boss leave the Memorial Ground, the fact of that matter is he has guided the club to back-to-back promotions and will natural be linked to other roles.
He was officially handed the job in March 2014 when replacing John Ward, but couldn’t prevent the club from dropping into the Vanarama National League. He immediately guided the club back into the Football League when defeating Grimsby Town in the Play-Off Final, before securing an automatic promotion spot in League One over the past season.
Clarke, who played over 100 times for former clubs Mansfield Town, Hartlepool United and Salisbury City, is a name that is starting to come with a larger reputation. League One will be the highest level he has coached at next season, but if Leeds come in with a serious offer, could he turn down the chance to manage in the Championship whilst his stock is high?
It is certainly interesting to see that his price has appeared out of nowhere for the role, after previously not being mentioned over a week ago. It could lead to nothing, but it is still a situation worth monitoring. Until we hear from Massimo Cellino, we won’t know much more about the Leeds manager situation. Let us not forget, Steve Evans is still under contract for the next month, so everyone needs to have a resolution eventually.

The way in which Massimo Cellino treats his managers would make it a no-brainer for me, and for DC as well if he's got any sense at all.
And I'm quite certain that he has too.

Karl Robinson has rejected the chance to take over as head coach at Leeds United after talks with the club's owner Massimo Cellino.
Leeds are preparing to move on to their next target - the club intends to speak to Bristol Rovers about the availability of their manager Darrell Clarke.
Robinson had been made favourite to replace Steve Evans, who only took over at Leeds in October last year.
-----
They havent even sacked their current manager yet have a list of replacements they are persueing. DC wouldn't touch them.

It might be crazy for him to go there, he might only last a few months and then get sacked, but from DC point of view it will raise his profile massively and make it easier for him to get decent jobs in the future. If we finish mid table in league 1 next season, a chance like this might not come around for him again.

Truly hope that this is just wishful thinking by our friends up north .................
DC will be a target regardless of what ever happens at Leeds.
But with our new owners and hopefully the ambition for this club to move forward, he will stick with the Gas and build upon what he has already achieved.

Unless Man U have sacked Van Gall in order to get DC. Why oh Why did we not see that coming. maybe we could then get the amazing Steve mcClaren - you saw his interview when he spoke in his Dutch accent............................just imagine his Bristolian - Gert Lush

A man who had achieved nothing before Leeds took him on. DC is a completely different story and has built an excellent CV so far, Leeds will enhance that, and ensure he will continue to work in the football league if and when he leaves them.

I'd be surprised if anyone with any sense would look at DC's judgement in a negative way for swapping tinpot Rovers for Leeds United. Ambition and wanting to better yourself is something employers like. This development wouldn't have come from nowhere, i would imagine Leeds have sounded out the agents of a few managers for this role. If Lee Johnson who has done nothing in his managerial career can work in the championship, then DC certainly can.

Ambition and wanting to better yourself is not taking a job that nobody else will touch and working for an utter buffoon like Cellino. He'd gain more credibility publicly distancing himself from the role.

maybe not quite the same sort of scenario, but Holloway was chased all over the park and he took on the challenge, won some good publicity and achieved a good promo' with Blackpool, but in the end it ended up in him going nowhere ,

Apart from the 'tinpot Rovers' part I agree with you plus if he could get the right contract at Leeds he could be financially secure.
Managers don't stay anywhere for long these days ( Wenger excepted) and if DC doesn't go now he will one day, from his point of view it might be better to go now whilst he's 'hot property'.
Another question is if he goes this summer who should replace him ? I expect it would be the cheapest option ie someone already at the club,I hope not.
