Oooh another investment story, Jordanian this time. Is there any nationality that haven`t been linked with us recently?
Do the Post get their stories by listening to internet rumours or are they an example of excellent local investigative journalism?

Well to be fair it ties in with one of the rumors on Gaschat and it actually has names. A google search has them under 200 million dollars. Not sure we should bother.lol

I pray that I will soon have to eat humble pie. But I doubt it.

Some info on the family and it's business ABDULKADER AL-QADI FAMILY
PROMINENT INDIVIDUALS: Abdulkader Abdullah al-Qadi, Chairman of the Arab Jordan Investment Bank PLC (AJIB), Hani Abdulkader al-Qadi, AJIB CEO and General Manager.
MAIN SECTORS: Banking and tourism.
WHY THEY MATTER: With its takeover of HSBC’s assets in Jordan, AJIB has become a banking force to be reckoned with.
Abdulkader Abdullah al-Qadi started his career in Qatar, where he acted as a financial adviser to senior officials. He then came back to Jordan to establish the Arab Jordan Investment Bank (AJIB) in 1978.
AJIB has a banking arm based in Qatar, the Arab Jordan Investment Bank (Qatar) L.L.C., which was founded in 2006 to serve clients in the Gulf region. It also has two subsidiaries; the United Arab Jordan Company for Investment and Financial Brokerage and the Arab Advisors Group, a research and consulting company.
Abdulkader al-Qadi is a main shareholder with 17.6 percent. His sons—Hani, Samer, and Wael—are also prominent shareholders with combined shares of 13.5 percent. The bank’s growing importance in Jordan’s banking sector is clear with the list of shareholders including the Libyan Foreign Bank (12.79 percent), the Arab Investment Company (10.25 percent), Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani (9 percent), and Jordan’s Social Security Corporation (4 percent).
AJIB’s investment capabilities have contributed to its growth locally and regionally. A major new $1.2 billion deal to acquire HSBC bank’s assets in Jordan proved the bank is a powerhouse and a force to be reckoned with.
Following the agreement, AJIB decided to raise the bank’s capital to JD150 million, from JD100 million. Under the takeover plan, which is due to be completed by May-June of this year, AJIB will take on HSBC’s 36,000 retail and 2,000 corporate customers, as well as most of the bank’s 250 full-time employees.
Commenting on the deal, Hani al-Qadi said the acquisition was part of AJIB’s growth strategy, and the business acquired complemented the bank’s existing product line and consolidated its market share in the Jordanian market.
Abdulkader al-Qadi and his sons are also major shareholders in the Mediterranean Tourism Investment company which owns the lavish Four Seasons Hotel Amman. Abdulkader al-Qadi is the company’s chairman.

I think this has always been Plan B.
And for this club to move forward it is the type of investment required
Will it happen? - As quoted many times before, and will be repeated again and again - "I will believe it when I am sat in UWE/Al Q. stadium watching that first game".
Interesting times ahead ..... follow that Camel.

Quick! Learn the lyrics ready for tomorrow I looked over Jordan, and what did I see Coming for to carry me home? A band of angels coming after me, Coming for to carry me home. Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home, Swing low, sweet chariot, Coming for to carry me home.

They could probably fund a decent L1 club from their banking dividends!!! I can't believe that a family that owns 30% of a major middle eastern bank only has wealth of £200m that's about the same as the beckams if these people are major players in the Jordian banking sector which is known as the Switzerland of the Middle East they have access to "wealth off the radar" saying that I don't care how much money they've got I'm not eating sheeps eyes for anyone

Well it's a done deal then in that case! Interesting story, let's see what happens now. After decades of following Rovers every single time we hear of a new fairy story type takeover or a fantasy new ground like many I take it with a shovel of salt. After all, nothing has happened yet in my 50+ years of life so far. If this is true and it is close then lets hope these people really are the rightful heirs of BRFC and will not run it as some vanity project like so many other clubs have had the sad misfortune to experience over the years. It's nice to dream but lets just see what happens. UTG.

So on a serious note they are going to have to chip in 30 million quid to build the stadium, right? Seems a lot as a proportion of their purported wealth if the <$200m is correct.
Very excited, but keen to know the detail!

Do the Post get their stories by listening to internet rumours or are they an example of excellent local investigative journalism? I don't believe they've got any real journos left have they? The fact there are names mentioned make me believe they've been fed this info from the club themselves. Time will tell.

The Bristol Post has gone downhill rapidly in recent years, the comments columns have been full of spot the spelling mistake and misquote. On this occasion JM has gone out on a limb to produce a full story that I would think has to have a lot of credibility behind it. Interesting times lay ahead that's for sure, the positive brigade will be saving up for premier league season tickets for 3 seasons time and the pessimists will be bemoaning a club name change kit colour change without it actually happening. Enjoy the ride, it is sure to be an interesting one, and one that none of us would have ever experienced before at Rovers.

Very excited, but keen to know the detail! They don't need to pay out any of their own money. Just be able to underwrite and service a debt. It would appear they own a bank, that's handy.... Interestingly the other Jordan, Katie Price is worth $40M. She may have her knockers, but she is clearly a shrewd businesswoman I for one welcome our new Jordanian Overlords.
