Must have been around 1973, schoolmates dad took us over in his camper van after watching football focus on bbc. Parked up by the downs, entered by what i think was the south stand as vaguely remember the tote being to my left, could hardly see sweet fa apart from blokes heads, cant even remember who it was we played, programmes still in the loft. I was hooked and apart from my other love we have been together ever since, so if a guy called richard symonds is reading this or anyone knows him, he would be about 54/55, then pm me, cheers utg

Octoberish 1993 - 4-3 last minute win over Bradford. 6 second half goals, Stewart Hat Trick (2 from the spot). All been downhill ever since really. Was that the one where Worrell Sterling scored the winner?

Exactly the same game as Eastvile1966, so I'll use his text with some amendments: Home match against Swindon. I was 6 (um...9)years of age, and my Grandad (Dad) bought tickets for me and my cousin (brother) for the South Stand. Mum and Dad bought me a rattle (my Dad made ours), bobble hat, scarf and rosette. Won 3-0 I recall and I was hooked. Remember the wooden seats, the way the stand seemed to rock back and forth whenever we scored, and the roar from the Tote End to my left. Nearly 50 years a Gashead now and still enjoy it with my son (and occasionally my daughter - but never together!). I'd just add that with Harold Jarman and Don Rogers on the same pitch what wasn't there to like!

31 August 1957, versus West Ham United at Eastville.
I remember very little about the game other than the Hammers goalie (a chap by the name of Ernie Gregory, a proverbial giant of a man it seemed to me as a 10-year-old child), and the Rovers quartered shirts. Magic, absolutely hooked immediately. My father took me to the match along with his friend and son, and we stood at the back of the Tote End. But dad didn't take me too often because he said that I was too young and wouldn't be able to see the game properly . . . which was true of course. So my visits weren't regular until I reached the age of about 12 in 1959, when I went to Eastville but with my own friends.

17.4.1976 against Southampton. 2-0 win to Rovers with goals scored by Frankie Prince and a penalty by David Williams (I think). Sat in the South stand at the ripe old age of 10 with my Dad. Cannot find anywhere what the attendance was so if there's anyone out there with the info I'd be interested to know. Good job I was hooked as my second match was a 5-1 home drubbing by Wolves. The Wolves match was the last time Rovers had a home league attendance in excess of 20K.

Although I wasn't there, I remember it being reported on tv..

- remember big dev and and carl saunders running amok up front. Twerton Park seemed huge - I was 7 or 8 i think

April 1967,home to Peterborough,I was 9,went with my grandad, stood at the Muller road end. I remember thinking how old Alex Munro looked ( because he was bald),and thinking that Peterboroughs colours were red ,I didn't realise it was there away kit, also Doug Hillard taking the goal kicks ? can that be right ?.
I didn't realise the Southampton 76 crowd was that low,Saints brought loads it was Easter Saturday ( we had played city the day before) and they were cup finalists a couple of weeks later..I think that Andrew Evans injury was the next season, the game after the 9-0 at Spurs ?.

V Luton, uncle took me, around early 70's, in the South Stand, want to say 2-1 or 2-2 ish. All I remember is not knowing what the hell was going on. So your excuse is keep going back until you do know what's going on?! *knowing wink!*
You are right, who the eff knows whats happening. I have to say, it was a time when I thought Leeds were my team, but going live and local, never mind how harrowing its been is better than armchair glory seeking.

Rovers 1 - Dag & Red 2, 11 March 2014 Not entirely sure why I kept coming back...Some of us have been saying that for the last 50 years, you'll get used to it and occasionally you might even enjoy it

Bristol Rovers v Sheffield Wednesday, 30 April 1959 Score 2-1 to Bristol Rovers Competition League Division Two Attendance 16,653 Aged 9. In the South Stand (on those old wooden seats) with my Dad. My first ever match at Eastville was: Bristol Rovers Colts v Trowbridge Town in 1958. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1957%E2%80%9358_Western_Football_LeagueDid anyone else attend Colts and Reserve matches before they were allowed to attend a proper First Team matches? I remember some Reserve matches could attract around 4,000-6,000 attendances!
