So, to get back to basics . . . was there a fee involved, or what? No fee, more than happy for them to takeover his contract, if for example he was on £2k per week, i would imagine DC will have access to half of that and can bring in a £1k per week signing. Charlie Sheringham would be a good replacement.

What??, a useless conference striker signing for a team TWO divisions higher than the mighty Bristol Rovers LOL. Perhaps Crawley play football where the loan striker is actually supported and plays to that players strengths and not continually aim 50 yard passes 10 feet over players heads in desperation? Surely not? Good luck to the bloke. Even tho he was part of a SQUAD of players that got paid too much for soooo little and the consequence was conference football. At least you had a bit of pride and passion Mr Harrold, unlike too many others who escaped the SCAPEGOAT tag for some reason!!!

Got away with that one. Does anybody know how he managed to make the appearance at Portsmouth that led to his one year contract extension? that'll be the game he scored twice in I have no idea!

Three long and unsuccessful years set the Gas on very good money with not much end product. I like Matt as a bloke, as a trier but if he is the answer to a L1 club then I have no idea what the question might be. In our position, like loosing JJOT, it's just something that had to happen.
As others have said he must have a good agent. Who next??

Look, guys. It doesn't matter how much of a nice bloke Harrold is... he's still not good enough.
Granted, the whole team was rubbish, he was definitely not our worst striker (maybe the best one, in fact) etc, etc, etc. But he's still not good enough - and that's the truth.
With him gone, we have free wages and all we can do is pray that those will be used wisely (probably not - but like I said, all we can do is watch, for now).
He could be our main goalscorer at Conference level, but I'd take wage space over 2k/week any day in our current situation.

So, another player joins a club further up the league! This never used to happen unless they were successful for us!
Bristol Rovers FC - rotten to the core!

I forgot to mention, when I was in hospital at Frenchay for a few months I happened to be in the at the same time as the former Yeovil kitman. We got chatting and became friendly, and while talking with him one time his phone happened to ring. Who was it? None other than Matty Harrold randomly ringing to find out how he was. Apparantly he always keeps in touch with people at former clubs to see how they are, that's just the character he is, and the kitman said he's a great person as well as a professional. He also said the same about Mildenhall. Like I said before, good luck, I wish him well.

Well we're rapidly getting to the bottom of the big earners at BRFC, so logically (if it's anybody) then Steve Mildenhall and Michael Smith have to be next. After that they'll continue to whittle away, Tom Parkes next perhaps?

Had a quick look an their website. In his interview it seemed clear to me that he was not in DC s plans for this season. Oh, and on a forum of theirs they think they might get JJ this week too. They seem happy.......

I felt that JJ and Matty didnt work that well together so it will be interesting to see how they get on if they team up together. Beardsley seemed to draw defenders wide and create space that JJ could drift into whereas Matty was more static and the penalty area was too crowded.

And Andy Bond.

Well I for one think we will miss him.
We complain about his goal scoring rate, but the service he was given was dreadful.
If he's being moved on to free up the wage bill and make it more appropriate to a Conference side - if that's the reason, fair enough. Of course this would confirm what I suspect is our lack of ambition to maintain investment levels in order to regain our league status.
If not - I can't understand why he would not be in DC's plans - but then again, DC's plans at the end of last season didn't do very much for us did they?
It's interesting that a League 1 team think he's good enough to take on but we were incapable of making a success of him.
