I'll be sad to see him go, I always liked Matty. He's been pretty good to me, sending me signed shirts at the end of the last two seasons. But even I can admit that he wasn't good enough last season, the lack of creativity didn't help though.
As much as a I like the bloke I am baffled as to how last season he showed he was good enough for league one. Must have a decent agent.

Not so sure he will be going to Crawley now as they have signed Izale McLoed. Couldnt really see those two alongside each other!! Could be wrong though.

He's definitely on his way out and is undergoing a medical with Crawley according to James McNamara.
Good move for him (though I can't believe he landed himself a L1 club!) and it's very good news for us from a wages perspective. We will have freed up a sizeable chunk that should help DC not only sign a replacement for MH but get a couple of others too.
Win-win.

Assuming that Matt Harrold is on his way to Crawley, then IF that were the case then I would agree that this would ''free-up'' his salary. I would also assume that there would be no fee involved?

The fee is believed to be around £200k with add ons.
(We've paid Crawley £200k and will have to give them more money as the season goes on)

Crawley tweeted a few minutes ago about announcing a new signing shortly. Now we wait.

Yup, it's a done deal, as expected.
"@crawleytown: Crawley Town are pleased to announce the signing of Matt Harrold from Bristol Rovers. Full story on the website soon."
Good luck Matty.

Got away with that one.
Does anybody know how he managed to make the appearance at Portsmouth that led to his one year contract extension?

Tenner to the Homeless charity Shelter if he scores ten and a pound for every goal over. I honestly believe that given the service he will bang a few away. He never had any decent ball and struggled on his own up front. That must have been soul destroying but he never played up and remained a consumate professional. I guess it goes to show that being a good pro in bad times can pay off. Take note JJOT and other, more callow youngsters, who have been around those two. JJOT 15 goals yet without a club. MH 7 goals and with L1 outfit. Welldone Matty and good luck. I just wish it could have been different.

Not my favourite player in the world to say the least, but at least he showed effort and commitment, which is more than some. Good luck to him.

As an ex centre forward myself can understand the frustrations of playing as a lone striker in a poor side but he was a trier and a good pro and I wish him the best

I liked Matt, another case of signing a player and not playing to his strengths. The bad injury he suffered the season before last had a big impact.

So, to get back to basics . . . was there a fee involved, or what?

So, to get back to basics . . . was there a fee involved, or what? I've found the answer to my own question, from the O/S . . . League One side Crawley Town have signed Bristol Rovers striker Matt Harrold on a free transfer.
