I thought a draw was a fair result yesterday, and was content with that, considering we were playing a team 2nd in home form chart and 4th in the league.
Of course, I wanted us to win.
Does that make me a happy clapper, Gazza?

What a dreadful thread. The happy clappers are in full voice, in fact, getting quite hostile now, shouting down anyone who dares complain, just because we have failed to beat a part time team of electricians and plumbers, again. If we don't get promoted it won't be because of the goalkeeper, our 'goals against' column looks just fine. Try not being so patronising to your fellow Gasheads, they may well have more respect for your views. No one I go to games with think we are the finished article and consider there is a lot of room for improvement. But we aren't 'happy clappers' either, ** we want better management, we want better players, we want a better team, we want to be in a better league, we want the club to be run better** but we aren't going to carry on negatively carping on and moaning about, it's counter productive. The players and the management are the one's we currently have, it's my job as a supporter to support them however limited their attributes might be or are you suggesting we should turn up at every game and boo them from start to finish. It's not perfect but compared with last season this is far far better. p.s. ** that's the hidden agenda some keep accusing this forum of having Not interested in having the respect of anyone who thinks, Is it better than last season? The part of the team that Clarke has had least to do with, the defence, is the best bit. How would this midfield and attack do in L2?

Yes, I think is a vast improvement on last season.
I didn't know the defence was the part of the team DC has the least to do with, I had rather hoped as the manager he would be involved with all of it, and I suspect he is.
Until - or if- this midfield and attack are in L2 no one actually knows. My guess is that they would be okayish, but nothing spectacular.

I think it says a lot that we played no where near our best and still got a point away from home to a team who have been in and amongst the play off places all season.

People singing Mildenhall just cause he kicked a few balls out?? What a joke, puddy had a great game and every save stuck to him Moldy would have spilled a couple of those shots or tried punching them and that puts the defence straight back under pressure, puddy has safe hands and he stopped the ball from going in the net that is what he is there for? Who gives a f if he kicked it out a few times,if moldy was in goal we would of lost FACT WELL DONE WILL GREAT GAME GAS NUMBER 1 Takes me back to the do you think monkey is underrated thread hahahhaha he shouldn't start the game would rather have gosling on going at defenders rather than him foot on ball and passing backwards again. Borrrrring Gosling has a good game every ten, he is not the answer, and he couldn't defend a sand castle, in fact wingers are not the answer, its forwards that are prepared to have a go. Far too often we passed when we could have shot.

All about opinions, but I reckon Kaid and Clarkeson, and O'Toole (if he could be bothered) would tear this division apart. Clarke inherited the keeper and defence was my point, and they weren't the reason we got relegated. Unless the goals are about 4 feet higher in L2 then Taylor would still miss the target more often than not.

I think we forgot that Macclesfield have been up there all season, and they are a good team. Of course we are Bristol Rovers and it's not that other teams play well against us, it's that we are always crap. At least that is what this board sounds like. Many years ago whilst living in London I got to know a delivery driver who delivered in Bristol almost everyday. He said of Bristolians, "they are so negative, and moan and groan at every opportunity". After reading some of the threads on here, and the "The appreciation page" on Facebook (what a joke that is) it might seem that he was actually right.

Far too often we passed when we could have shot. I think it would probably be quite difficult to defend a sand castle. I mean it doesn't have much structural integrity and is subject to multiple lines of attack one of which (the sea) is somewhat of a relentless opponent with limitless resources.

Haven't we got enough defensive players? Great having good defence but we need goals too

"Unless the goals are about 4 feet higher in L2" Remember our first game at The Mem Vs Stockport? Both goals scored at the South stand, both goals wouldnt have counted at any other league ground. The cross bar was about 11 inches to high, The FA did not reprimand us because we both benefited.

Someone's taken the time and effort to write a detailed match report so I think that's a bit out of order really. Fair comment. It wasn't directed at the OP, whilst we don't always agree that we've even been to the same game, he always makes the effort to knock up a report, no problem with that whatsoever. It was the foul mouthed and agressive replies that I was commenting on.

Quite agree with you but why when everyone could see it didn't John Ward bring someone in to try and rectify it last season, it will always remain one of those mystery's I guess we'll wonder about.

EP reported that he tried, and when he reported back to the BoD at the end of the transfer window that he had failed to bring in a new striker, that's when he was effectively relieved of his duties and ''moved upstairs''. Why couldn't he bring anyone in? Was it money, was it that there was a problem with players coming to this club? Maybe Geoff will spill the beans in his book

The other point is that it's a bit of a false argument because we never really had the option to keep Clarkson and O'Toole. Both were clearly angling for moves away and being pretty disruptive in the process. Plus I don't think we could afford to keep them anyway. If you're going to make a comparison you have to factor in circumstances surely. I mean I'm sure the 99/00 Rovers side would piss this division but that doesn't mean assembling a side like that was an option for us. So, yes, I'd say this season has been a massive improvement on last season. Last season we took a side that probably should have been challenging in the top half of League 2 and got relegated. This season we took the general carnage, financial hit and cultural shock of relegation to the Conference and have dealt with it surprisingly well compared with other clubs who found themselves in a similar situation. Urgo I'd say this season has been quite spectacularly better than last season. Plus it has been consistently fun going to matches again, which is pretty important and hasn't been the case for a number of years. By all means be pissed off we were relegated but you still have to look at each season in context not a vacuum and I'd say that in context it's been decent. It hasn't been outstanding but it's been decent.

Oh well... When you deliberately misquote someone to make a point I think you've just conceded the debate. Really ? You'd better point that out to me so I can apologise in that case. As you've said in a previous thread 'it's all about opinions', I have mine and I have neither been rude or offensive in their presentation (unless of course you feel I'm being offensive to you because I differ in my views to yours). I've been very clear from before the season started of my view of the club and its need to improve at many levels (see the bits in bold from my previous thread) but I'm also very clear that whatever team or players or managers we have I'll support them to the best of my ability because that's what I think I should do. Others appear to be of a different opinion, there's not much I can do about that other than express my own.
