Hello there!
Newport fan in peace. So it looks as though we could be after your manager! Just a few questions...
Is he popular at Bristol? What's his managerial style? Preferred formations, tactics etc How do you rate his team selection?
Congratulations on your progress this year by the way. Hope to see you in league 2 next season!

Can't see him leaving us for Newport. No disrespect but hardly a step up, regardless of league... we're on the up with a potential stadium, bigger fanbase, etc. so I'd be extremely surprised.

The vast majority of fans are supportive towards him which is impressive considering he was held partly responsible for relegation last year (which was harsh imo).
His management style appears to be focussed on having the right characters (as well as ability) and it is very much about the team, not individuals. He appears very open with fans and I personally love his honesty. He supports all his players and there appears to be an excellent team spirit which we havent had for years. His tactics might appear slightly negative but that might be down to the squad he has at his disposal. We have dropped so many points away from home against teams we should have beaten which might cost us dear in a couple of months. We have an excellent defence which is the main reason for our position but we are lacking on creativity in midfield. Nearly always plays 4-4-2 but did play 3-5-2 a few times early in the season.
As supporters you usually disagree with team formation and line ups somewhere along the line, but on the whole I feel he selects the best team. One major strength is his ability to change things mid match. Considering the massive overhaul he is trying to undergo here, he has done brilliantly when you look at our position which is far more than most of us gasheads expected at the start of the season.
Pretty sure he won't cross the bridge though.

His former club Hartlepool were interested about a month back, he came out and said he wasn't interested, so I'd be surprised if he came to you.

Mate you need to see a doctor if you think he will go to a smaller club only 1 division higher, that is not going to be in league 1 any time soon. We are chasing the title in our league so he won't be going mate. Go get Buckle he's a great manager look how far he took Cheltenham!

Rodney Parade, one of very very few grounds that makes The Mem look like Santiago Bernabeau!

Good chance of the play-offs, longer contract, easy commuting.
But he won't go. He owes Rovers fans too much after last season.

I believe Clarke is an honourable man but also an ambitious and astute individual. Hartlepool are bottom of League Two, why would he want another relegation out of the League on his CV. Newport have a good chance of getting into the play offs and won't be relegated this year. Also he wouldn't need to move.
I expect it to depend on how the BoD treat him should the club get promotion or if we miss out. If they are fair I expect him to stay irrespective of where we are next year. If they mess him around I am sure there are plenty of clubs who would like a young manager who is doing well with a club who have been in the doldrums for many years.

Other than his haircut he is a top bloke so Rodney Parade won't be exactly enticing playing in front of small crowds in a decaying stadium.

Haha.......I think he's more likely to go south of the river than north of the estuary........could be a vacancy there soon. Me thinks someone might be feeling the pressure after listening to his post match interview on Saturday.........." It was the pitch, how could we play on that it was so bad, The pitch was so bad......IT WAS THE PITCH IT WASN'T ME, IT WAS ALL DOWN TO THE PITCH.........THE PITCH........deep breaths and relax

If Newport offered him a 2 year deal he would go and i wouldn't blame him, he wouldn't have to move house and Newport are in a decent position in league 2. The longer our BoD continue to let time go by without offering him a new deal, the more other clubs will continue to circle looking to sign up a young manager with huge potential that's proved that no only is he a good talker but he's the best manager we've had since Holloway. I get the feeling that if we go up this season DC knows he will get a job with a league 1 club in a few months time, and if we don't the fact he's taken us to play-offs at the first attempt with the club in a mess will result in league 2 clubs after him in the summer.
