If Newport offered him a 2 year deal he would go and i wouldn't blame him, he wouldn't have to move house and Newport are in a decent position in league 2. The longer our BoD continue to let time go by without offering him a new deal, the more other clubs will continue to circle looking to sign up a young manager with huge potential that's proved that no only is he a good talker but he's the best manager we've had since Holloway. I get the feeling that if we go up this season DC knows he will get a job with a league 1 club in a few months time, and if we don't the fact he's taken us to play-offs at the first attempt with the club in a mess will result in league 2 clubs after him in the summer. I thought he's on a rolling 1 years contract?

Personally think he's the best manager we've had in years. He'll make some mistakes along the way no doubt and people won't agree with his very decision but he's still learning, huge potential.
Think he's still under-appreciated by some sections of support and no doubt some will still hold the 'you got us relegated' grudge.
Had enough of the chopping and changing culture. It'll be nice to have some stability for a change under an up and coming ambitious manager.

We all know the many deficiencies of the Mem, but since Lansdown took the mens rugby division of Bristol Sport to Ashton, the pitch is in the best condition it has been for years! Newport County share a pitch with 2 rugby sides. I think that alone would put DC off, unless the board really want to shoot themselves in the foot again

According to quite a few posts on here over the last few months he's on a 1 year deal and if we don't get promoted his deal won't be renewed in the summer. Not sure what deal he signed when he took over a year ago in March, but i'm hoping the fact he has not been offered anything yet is because he's on a rolling deal.

I've always believed that DC was signed by John Ward in June 2013 as his assistant manager, on a two-year contract. The fact that he was then subsequently upgraded to manager did not affect the length of his original contract with the club, and this was confirmed by the Chairman who said at the time of our relegation from the Football League, that DC was under contract to the club for one more year. If this is all correct, then I believe that Darrell Clarke's contract with BRFC expires in June 2015.

Not sure if he's the sort of manager we should be after at this moment in time. Saturday's result aside, I'm fairly confident in Dack's ability to steady the ship until the summer and if he does a good job, who knows? But right now the board are probably feeling some pressure to act so that could be the reason for the interest in Clarke. Whether that's to bring him on board now or at the end of his contract.
Personally if we are to bring in anyone I'd rather it was now so that the new guy can get to know the squad and get a good idea of who he wants to keep. Then we can make a go of it in the summer.

Well we did say the same about both Justin Edinburgh and Holdsworth before they went. "He won't go to Gillingham/Aldershot, that would be a step down" "He's pushing for the title with us, why would he want to sign for a team we could be in the same league as next season" Heard it all before But ultimately it'll be down to Clarke and whether he sees the move as a step up and indeed whether the board even want him in the first place. Let's let things play out and see what happens. Either way I'm pretty confident you guys will be in the same league as us next season (can't see us going up in all honesty).

Don't take this the wrong way fella, But isn't Gillingham and Aldershot a step up from Newport?

People have said it would be a sideways move, not a step down and you evidently agree.
