By the way Devon White still ranks as one of the most awkward cart horses i have ever seen play professional football..... premier league carthouse you mean. Funny. When you watch the 2nd of may goals again, they were both lovely finishes. If it had been anyone else they would be called cool, calm finishes, but because dev looked so awkward he never got the credit he deserved. Wardrobe on wheels wasn't it? Or something like that. I've seen those goals only twice. And not for many years and I have zero intention of watching them again.

Not trying to be a smartarse but was he a rugby fan then? I thought the same as we didn't move to the Mem until 1996. I'm sure Curly Wurly meant Twerton. Apologies folks - senior moment on my part. Thanks to those who corrected me - I did mean Mr Atyeo came to watch Rovers at Twerton. A gentleman from a bygone age.

I do miss the rivalry in all honesty. Bristol Rovers have become so irrelevant to us (like we have to you) because we never compete against each other any more. Also gasheads have married into my family (Dad and myself will never fully accept them of course) and it's all a bit different. Yeah, it's so bad that the sheed who married into our family, who we've bantered with for years, has recently started denying he's a sheed and started saying he follows both teams equally. I guess shooting fish in a barrel was no fun for him.

There was a clip on official site about Devon, must admit forgotten how many goals he scored and that there was quality. We played Charlton at Selhurst pk, I seem to recall he ran with the ball from 1/2 way line to score, is my memory correct?

Had just been moaning about how useless Devon was that day when he immediately scored an absolute blinder!!

I still really hate them, despite being 50, and wiser(?)
Couldn't bring myself to watch it yesterday (the thought of them winning), but kept an eye on the score as of course I would have turned it on if they were getting stuffed.

Well if you won't, then you won't I suppose. But for the rest of us . . .

I guess shooting fish in a barrel was no fun for him. Thinking about it, I don't pass the test of supporting both teams at all. I was at Crawley the day you went down and at 1-1 in a second half where both players and fans couldn't give a fk who won the match found myself following your match on my phone..... The "we're on the pitch if the gas go down" was the loudest chant - swiftly followed by a Crawley announcement fans would be banned by BCFC for life if they invaded the pitch - so that didn't happen. So when it comes to key times I do care as I am sure it's the reverse for you. But the conference thing is a bit old now for me (hence the OTIB thread is a bit tiring for me) and I've no more interest until we have another clash. The non league thing was funny and a "fk me they really have gone down" but that's about it. I'm more embarrassed we play in League 1 as a Championship-standard club than worry about where you play to be honest. That and the fact I know fk all about the conference so I have no idea if you've had a good or bad result.

I must have been stood next to you! As I recall, Devon was having a bit of a torrid time, and me and another bloke were just chatting about how poor he had been- then he did that! Great goal. He has gone back to being an electrician now, and is a customer of one of our branches in Nottingham.

We travel mildly better than 34.... Wow! Very impressive. I bet crime statistics in Bristol were low that day.
