I do like to play this game. here is the Mem now(ish) Here is the Mem with Lincoln city's 2000 seat Stacey West Stand miraculously transported there. So, the footprint is big enough to support a 2000 seat stand. If you moved the pitch left (North towards the Clubhouse) you could create a bigger footprint, but would cut off half the away terrace. For entertainment purposes only. Here is the Mem with the East stand extended full width

If we do some fag packetry then we could work out if it's worth doing.
Current South and SW Stand Seating 1600 @£25 = max per game potential £40,000
New 2000 seat South Stand 2000 @£35 = max per game potential £70,000
So a £30K delta
£30,000 x 25 games per season = £750,000
Assuming £1500/seat build cost at £3,000,000
4 Year ROI
E&OE
That's a rough as a badger with sandpaper condom. But it's at least more maths than I have ever seen at the club. Yes assumes full occupancy, Yes change in price point. No haven't factored in profit from concessions or loss from Season Tickets or indeed anything else.
Not sure about the 1600. That's reading that we are gaining 400 extra seats. Would we fill it up at that price point? Are all seats sold every week, is there pressure for an extra 400 seats? That's not maths, that's commerce. Picked easy numbers because easy numbers are easy.

All made up nonsense, but appreciated. And more than we've had from Wael Al-Qadi in the last 7 years. It does look like the current footprint is horribly constrained by the width of the South Stand. I know it's been discussed before, but surely moving the footprint north would open up more possibilities. Pretty sure Orient have done this (see above). Where there's a will, there's a way. Is there a 'will'? #workingveryhardbehindthescenes

Moving the pitch would give you a bigger footprint, but would take away most of the away terrace. Again for entertainment only, here is Lincoln City's main stand dumped on that footprint. No idea why I am picking on Sincil Bank. It was just to hand. More problems than just building it and paying for it here. It would increase capacity by maybe 2000 and create a huge structure above people's houses so we would be in planning hell for years.

from a rather vague memory, isn't Herefords' stand on the cattle market side a two tier affair with a similar depth to the south stand.[ unsure of capacity ]

As for the 'away terrace'. It is a total embarrassment. Always has been.

I think at one stage the South Tent did have a capacity of 1,600, but this was back when it extended further across the width of the pitch. A quick count of the seating options available on Rovers' website shows around 1,050 seats. And if that doesn't include seats all the way along, so not including the section reserved for away fans (difficult to tell, because the far block I counted is greyed out), there would be another 144 (12x12 block). So around 1,200, which sounds about right. Here are some similar sized (and fairly modern) away ends to compare with: Cheltenham Town - Hazlewoods Stand (Whaddon Road) = approx 1,100. Cambridge United - The Marston’s Smooth Stand = 1,600. Leyton Orient - Both ends have around the same capacity – The Qualiteach Community Stand = 1,381 / Tommy Johnston South Stand = 1,336.

This goes against the grain of Rovers outsourcing wherever it’s appropriate which is something I’ve supported. It sounds as though they’ve decided against engaging a contractor with the requisite expertise and equipment to be able to provide guaranteed workmanship at market rates and instead they are hoping there’s a retired Gashead out there who is willing to work on the cheap.

Appears to me they want an all round handy man with multi skills but don't want a contractor who may have a particular skill like sparky, chippy, etc ..... unless I'm missing something!

It's obvious to me that the club want an on site general maintenance worker on a regular basis rather than on a when and needed basis, To employ a contractor to attend on site either part of full time would be extremely costly. From my own experience employing direct labour is a far more cost efficient option and it also gives you full control over the end job result.

I think this is another positive sign that the club are looking to improve the match day experience of visiting the Mem. Even something simple like a new coat of paint will make the stadium feel a lot better.

Sorry if offensive to some, who are in treatment but his dark humour and lack of any empathy actually helped. God i miss the old boy. They do not build them like that, not now. If anyone is interested the his website, which is easy to traverse, www.janpirog.co.ukno pressure, none at all

I have long said that we have many trades who have approached the club, to do maintenance and with no charge but the club have not even replied. I really do not understand and , i guess, it may be something to do with employment rules but i do not rightly know

This is how interpreted this, you are not alone in thinking this way. Seems Wael likes things to be done above board

It seems to me this is a sensible thing. At our golf club we have a handy man who does a myriad of tasks at a first call. If he can't carry out the work he has a whole range of contractors he can call on to do the work and the skills to supervise the work and ensure it is carried out effectively and efficiently.
Should more than one trade be involved in the project he coordinates the team. He also purchases all the materials to achieve cost efficiency and a lack of contractor mark ups.
He approves it prior to payment.
Working in this manner has seen significant savings in the maintenance budget.

Ran the line at Leeds Road one very wet evening(sandbags outside the terraced houses nearby).Got there early and was met by their Physio-none other than Wayne Jones. Worked, as regional sales manager, close by to Elland road. This was mid 90’s. I was genuinely shocked at the sold out games. I did get to 2 games, atmosphere was anywhere between electric to toxic. They were, to a man, very upset at how Eric Cantona played, for Mnn Utd
