Glen Whelan and Leon Clarke set to join the gas this week - do they bring vitally needed experience to the squad or is it a case of deadwood from Fleetwood? Ok I go half glass full - after all what we got to lose?

I think Whelan would be a good signing tbh and give us additional strength in the midfield area especially if we are moving Grant to RCB.
Clarke....is his heart really in the game anymore? At 37 does he really want to be getting beaten up at Salford on a wet tuesday night?

Ok I go half glass full - after all what we got to lose? Gonna be playing walking football are we, or are these 2 going to be making 10 minute cameo appearances ala Pitman? Barton has quite clearly lost his mind, I smell an upcoming disaster. In other news, Rovers have allowed the energetic 19 year old forward Philips, who was courted by Premier League clubs not so long ago, go on trial to some Scottish club. You couldn’t make it up.

Leon Clarke has never played for Fleetwood. True - but what's odd is his dad is Darryl Clarke! FFS it is DARRELL CLARKE. And they are not related. Both patently awful potential signings. Smacks of utter desperation.

JB apparently thinks their trial went well enough for at least a chance.
We'll see.
The defensive midfielder- had awful reference from Hearts - might play a position that lends itself to a more experienced player.Perhaps.
There feels an element of throwing the dice here, but that's not so unusual.
Fingers crossed they can help out at least in the short term.
Not voted on poll.

So Barton had a third of last season to take a look and make things much worse, then all of the summer to plan and recruit, now at the 11th hour this is what he's reduced to.
I hope there are plans for some serious recruitment rather than this silliness. If not then it's going to be a long season with a very real risk of losing our League status.

As ever will wait to see for myself whether these are decent signings ... We've had disasters before with Lawrence (but even he did make a contribution in form of a goal) and Channon, but won't hold breath and we'll see...
Welcome to the club if either/they sign.

He probably would have sorted his recruitment had he not lost his assistant manager and got involved with a(nother) assault case. I wonder who Leon Clarke and Glenn Whelan use as agents? This is a Barton boys club.

The rest of what you say I agree with, and it's a worry, we do appear to be going 'all in' with Project Punchy.

Who cares if we are Fleetwood in blue As a cardiff city fan, they went to the prem playing in red Who cares as long as we're winning, it's when we're losing i have an issue

The people derisive of this don’t feel the same? aren’t people knocking this on basis it’s unlikely to get us winning? As the squad numbers grow, but the ability of players to impact games doesn’t. That’s the anger, a reset that is wobbling and getting desperate. the length of contract is key for me, it has to be short, or it’s an outrage the next managers reset in January could be getting stitched up here already.

Having sent the wing backs out the club, we are now going to play a back three? I don’t believe you. That would be such transparent madness after lessons learnt from Exeter away.

Yep i get the point. My point being, if we played in red and had all ex fleetwood and even city players and yet were winning i would not complain, same as i would complain at being relegated with 11 home grown players all sons of club legends.

The fact that almost two-thirds of respondents are willing to seriously entertain this prospect is truly, truly mind-boggling.
Remember Derek Riordan and Garry Kenneth? Exactly the same situation - formerly decent players who have had injuries or who are so far past it as to be unrecognisable from their former selves.
How can a 36-year-old with one goal who is not match-fit and who has been turned down by Gloucester City be entertained as a good signing? What is Barton thinking? And yet another Fleetwood reserve/released player?
Its insulting to consider these two as potential signings. Barton's lack of preparation, vision and his utter contempt for the fans, club and division is just so, so obvious.

It's a good point, I am open to trusting his judgement until it doesn't work as he is better qualified than me, but believe me, I have a long memory. DC signed Kyle Bennett.
