No word from these guys for ages, have they packed it in ? Important to know right now. Hi Dinsdale
I see lots of people coming up with suggestions about what can be done with plenty of people annoyed and making comments. However before anything can happen there has to be a mechanism to organise and contact people. Without that mechanism I'd suggest no response would be united and bear fruit. Any idea of showing how fans feel needs to be significant.
Through BRISA I thought some fairly universal campaigns had been put forward with a view that we could establish the wishes of the membership and the supporters could become organised and united.
I'll give you a few statistics in order that you can make up your own mind(s) whether you feel Bristol Rovers Supporters are apathetic or not.
On this forum there are over 1,000 members and in the last 24 hours over 5,000 guests (I have no idea what that means in terms of individual viewers but it is fair to assume a reasonable number).
Gaschat has over 400 members and over 2,000 viewers in the last 24 hours.
We have distributed over 1,000 leaflets.
I'm thinking that at least 1,500 can see BRISA is there. Probably more.
Why do we have just over 300 members and only 20 or so people turn up to the first meeting? The leaflet given out has resulted in ONE further member. Only TWO people have put there heads above the parapet to help with the running of BRISA.
I suggest plenty take a look in the mirror and ask what they could do to help Bristol Rovers Football Club.
The trouble is every single person will have a different idea and also be the first to criticise what someone else does or suggests.
Until there is unity nothing will change.
Go on guys tell us what we did wrong (TWO of us) and what we should have done. Then come and do it with us.

I think the issue is that campaigning until the cows come home isn't going to change anything. I'm as anti board as anyone but why would people take their free time out to do something that isn't going to make any difference? Until the owners go, nothing will change.

As stated elsewhere huge error in how long it took to hold a meeting, lost momentum. The meeting you held was in the peak of the summer holidays anoter huge error. Hold the meeting at the mem 1pm of a match day. The game before give out thousands of flyers. People will go if they are not put out and the momentum is returning.

You have been one of the most supportive and active people in giving time and help to all groups. Thank you.
Were we supposed to compete by having meetings at the same time as another group? We did discuss trying to go forward jointly and that didn't work. Thank you for pointing our errors. Please advise what we should do. Can we do anything with out significant members on board? How many have offered help in trying to get those members on board - THREE.
PS since my post 55 have viewed the comments and only two have reacted. What does that say?

Hi Dinsdale, If you felt so strongly (and you obviously do) that something should have been organised earlier then why didn't YOU organise something. Despite living in South Wales I've attended every Welly meeting, EGM, Q&A session plus the first BRISA meeting held at the Mem. It's very easy to be critical of people who at least try and do something. It's time consuming, it affects family life, it requires committment that's why sometimes things take longer to develop than people would like but at least the Welly group and those trying to organise BRISA have tried. Why not contact the organisors of BRISA, I'm sure they would welcome someone like yourself with the enthusiam you display ? UTG !

No word from these guys for ages, have they packed it in ? Important to know right now. Don't forget, BRISA is the sum of its members including you. I don't know what's happened to Ted Strung Out after the initial blaze of enthusiasm but Richard and Tom have basically been doing everything themselves. Personally, I think it's too much for two people to do and if no one else steps forward, BRISA will go the same way as every other independent group in the last 12 years or so. Getting seriously involved will be a huge drain on your time and emotions and there will be a lot of obstacles in your way which will obviously include apathy and a significant body of the fan base establishment which will regard you as trouble-makers. If the fans don't want an independent supporters group, there won't be one; simples.

30 like you would be fantastic.
To be fair the whole Club and it's fans are a mess. Totally divided. Until the Club (and I think it can only come from the Club) do something about bringing everyone back together we are a lost cause.

I can only echo gassed ups summary ... 2 of us can only do so much... hold a meeting on a matchday is great .. frankly though thats more a eally than a meeting... it will be hijacked (prob fairly) by strong higgs n co out mob ... whilst tgat maybe the thoughts of many that type of thing would finish ant chance of being taken seriously by the club .. theyd just slump back to their bunker and go on the defensive. .. BRISA is set up for the menbers to choose its path so cone on one and all email your suggestions for the next step.. offer YOUR time and help. .. without it Its game over!! Bristolroversisa@gmail.com

If Dinsdale is already supporting you that's great and applaud him for doing that. I have to be a long distant supporter, some who I travel with won't be as supportive as I am and I obviously don't want cause friction amongst us, it's a long walk back from Bristol !

When you criticise something the response is always why didnt you do it :-). I dont live in Bristol and my wife was very ill from March to Late June. I wasnt in a position to. I have attended the q and a and wellie meeting and spoke on the phone with gassed up but was on holiday for your meeting. I have tried to offer suggestions not just be critical. When you guys got started you were having meetings at 12 hours notice. It was never going to be open to many people. Its just a hindsight thing not intending to offnd anyone. Brisa got overtaken by the wellie lot who imo were a bit wet and close to the club and didnt get going in time for the anger to have not worn off. Im happy to attend and see what i can do but im not going to offer to do anything more then that untill i meet the people involved and see what its all about.

I listened intently to your badly communicated sales pitch to take on the FC communications at the Higgs forum. If you are interested enough to do this for the FC, why not the supporters?

My apologies Dinsdale, It's easy to fire off posts without knowing people's full circumstances although I have qualified my original post with a subsequent one. I'm just an ordinary supporter like you and have signed up for BRISA membership because I liked it's aims and objectives and there appeared to be an attempt to have some structure about it. I have no other involvement with it at the moment because like you I live a distance away. However, they like us have family committments that could well restrict the amount of time they have to give to it, hence their plea for others to offer their time to it.

In that case he needs to grow a pair of bollox and get over it. If his concern over the well being of Bristol Rovers is genuine, he would do this.
