Is it a date for the history books?
Maybe not.
Joey should continue with shape, tactics, patience and favouritism to certain players. His philosophy is really beginning to bed in and shape our performances in a consistent way now. Under Barton we have shown more consistency than under any other manager this season.

I understand it’s going to be quite windy down south sea this afternoon.

Spooky, on 24th April 1993 Rovers’ relegation to Div 3 was confirmed by losing to West Ham. 3 wins were required for a chance to stay up. (Rovers also lost a game in 1897 on 24 April to a team playing with 9 men throughout.) From Bristol Rovers On This Day - Stephen Byrne

Ooh you are such a tease! It’s innovative and ahead of the game really, because you normally expect good things to come from composure rather than doing everything in a hurry. And where you would expect a phrase like ‘organised back four’ we don’t even have one. A true innovator this Barton. Watch out basement division, something a bit different is coming your way.

I was in the Boleyn Stand with a mate of mine from work and hoards of happy Hammers fans. Some colourful language was thrown in my direction, for I had decided to wear the quarters and dispute contentious decisions with the referee. Nothing nasty though. All you could hear for ages was "down in a minute, we're going down in a minute". And yes, people were thoroughly impressed with the noise we made and heartfelt support for our Club. We kindly went on to lose 2-1, and ensure safe passage for the journey home. Bloody missed the Billy Clarke goal to put us 1-0 up as I was just finishing off my pint. I don't think I ever heard anything nasty thrown at the manager or the players. Despite the relegation season it was a really good time to be a Gashead. We had some pride. Seems a long time ago, which it is. 27 years is a long time out of tier 2.

Good times in a strange sort of way ? The Judge actually put us one up if I remember correctly before Dicks and Speedie sadly consigned us to the lower tier.while they went in the opposite direction.

I remember that West Ham game well. A large IRA bomb caused traffic chaos and some of us got out of our coach from the Pied Horse and attempted to get across London by other methods, this being in a pre mobile phone era we really had no idea what was going on, but we did manage to get there in time for kick off. We may have got relegated that day, but, as you would have expected with the team form that era, we went down fighting, not with the whimper this lot have gone down with. I would never have imagined how far we would fall from that day. I find it hard to believe it was 28 years ago, I was still -just about- in my 20s!

Daly in. Baldwin replaces Harries. What Joey is intellectually doing here is not merely inverting the pyramid. It’s no longer a pyramid.

Damn - just heard on Radio 5 that its a one o'clock kick-off. I thought it was at 3. I could have missed it and had an enjoyable afternoon but will have to watch it now.

Fearing 4 - 0 to Portsmouth but quite like the look of our line-up.
4-4-2 Diamond?
