Hard to agree with much of that. Firstly, he's never learned a thing, he's a violent yob, and it appears you haven't noticed, he has an upcoming court appearance relating to an opposition manager losing teeth, the exact same thing that happened to the 16 year old that he beat up when he was drunk and with a big group of his mates and family members. Secondly, any level of success at Fleetwood needs to be balanced against the £5,950,000.00 loss shown in their last lot of published accounts. Who knows, maybe even Garner could have done something with a budget like that. That's where their success comes from. Why should the BoD be given credit for thinking of Barton's potential to implode? What have they done to ensure that when he's either jailed in a couple of months or attacks someone else, or starts betting on football again, and gets banned, again, that it won't have an adverse effect on the club? The only things we probably agree on is that he was a decent player, when he wasn't attacking opponents, and on the list of other people it would also be appalling to have associated with Rovers. His Blue Bristol speech means that he is now the public face of Bristol Rovers Football Club. Is it too much to hope that he goes to prison?

Don't wish that on him Shoves, would like to see him come to terms with his issues and get his life back on track and not sure that prison will help with that, I mean, what will it teach him, not a lot, he'll lose a few months but will come back out to a comfortable life, unlike others who lose everything with their first custodial sentence. What Joey needs is some honest people around him to help him recognise that he has serious issues and to get that aspect of his life under control. Preferable a long way away from my football club.

I thought I explained that. It does not indicate for or against anything. It's four-sided. It's a measure of relative disgust towards Manager, Football Director, CEO, and President. It indicates that in the Manager's first twenty-four hours, more who voted want him out than any of the other three - almost more than the other three added together, despite the option of voting for more than one of them! I don't know that any managerial appointment has disgusted so many supporters to such a degree that they refuse to support. I care what you think, though, so I will remove it. Let me know what else you disapprove of. Good,I think we're better off without inappropriate use of such things Shoveller. I am abit of an expert for mistaken posts. My own. Of course it's the non Joey 'fans' that are in full on 'disapproval ' mode.Rovers/WAQ has made a decision. That's it. For me it's to a certain extent easier. On the one hand I am aware of the mental health effects on victims of bullies.Destructive.On the other hand, there is apart of me quite enjoying Rovers/WAQ apparent lack of pc wokeness,or as I suspect,he just ain't bothered by it. I hope this kind of 'cancel culture' against our new manager, before even one game, fails. I would say accept El Presidentes opinion,"calm down""calm down" (could'nt resist) and cheer Rovers on tonight. The Wigan Ath game is a real relegation episode. You can't force people to care about something Bas.
I currently feel nothing towards the club. I have no interest in whether we win or lose, stay up or go down. Ultimately, the association with the club is based on an irrational bond. This appointment has broken that bond for me. I hope it returns at some point but right now I simply do not care.

You've got a wild feather up your arse. I just want a football person, rather than a social media celebrity psychopath, to lead Bristol Rovers. A custodial sentence for ABH is a small price to pay for football and the club's reputation. I want it back. At any cost to Barton.

Oh, the poll has gone ... please add JB and TW.
Plus rather than a prison sentence, perhaps a hefty fine and lots of hours of community service would be better. I can think of a lot of suggestions for community service.

Barton comes across as a cherub in the interview, sadly the man suffers from a personality disorder and however much anger management he's undertaken when the red mist rises there is nothing as an individual he can do to prevent it. Before the season is finished I'm sure there will be a reported incident somewhere sometime, he's capable of combusting at any moment. I don't think the club realises either what a high profile court case can do to damage it's image when the clubs name is dragged through the papers ever day because it employs the guy, Leeds United suffered badly during the Lee Bowyer trial. Agreed. I can only think that Al Qadi equates fame, however ill-gotten, with status. I just don't understand it, because however questionable Al Qadi's competence, I have never before questioned his decency, dignity, or respect for good manners. Barton is a sometimes high-functioning psychopath, but the mask always fails him in the end.

I've been embarrassed by Bristol Rovers before. The Higgs sackings and relegations were bad. The Al Qadi sackings are similarly humiliating. But I have never been ashamed before. Appointing Joey Barton as manager is way worse. I am truly ashamed to be a Rovers supporter. We are not the greatest club in the league. We have never been in the top division. I do not really believe that we ever will. But we had some dignity, decency, and respect. Wael Al Qadi might not know what he's doing. But I thought these things mattered to him. I thought he was someone who had such values. Joey Barton is unfit to manage Bristol Rovers. He has to be removed from our football club. Until that time, I will not be supporting. I want nothing to do with this disgrace. I intend this to be my only Gas Guzzler thread. I rejoined Bristol Rovers Independent Fans Forum at gasheads.org because members here have taken final and decisive stands against this criminal disgrace, withdrawing their support in principle; and while I too refuse to support Bristol Rovers at this time, I know that we will be here long after Joey Barton and even Wael Al Qadi are gone, even if they have overseen the final destruction of Bristol Rovers Football Club. How sad , I welcome joey Barton , and hope with all my heart he keeps us up . Cannot believe just how sanctimonious and judgemental you sound . Think it’s best I get back to gas chat , I am obviously not not virtuous enough for this place . Thank god - oh to be perfect !!! Utg

The Duck Is Back!! Welcome home Shoveler. Thanks, Trotsky. I'm back on this thread only. I'm back in solidarity with decent Guzzlers appalled by the Barton appointment, a number of whom won't support his Bristol Rovers. Al Qadi recruiting this little psychopath outweighed my tiredness with Mike Jay and I calling each other names. I can't wait for Joey Barton's departure from Bristol Rovers, when hopefully we'll all be able to attend matches together again. Good health, Sir.

I was very "anti" when I first heard of the appointment. However having listened to his interview I'm now prepared to judge him purely on his time whilst on the BRFC payroll. Running out of time to see us in the Premier League in my life-time, so praying he has suddenly matured (especially as he has young children) and will "deliver"!

Just summed up that horribly judgemental reactionary type of opinion , that I for one cannot tolerate . Anyway ,much more importantly , let’s hope for 3 points tonight . UTG RTID .

Even 7 and 11 year olds I class as young, didn't let my kids start drinking, smoking and partying until they were twelve!
