what he said simples, innit? No, not really.
Anything but (generally, not just this JB case)
Plenty of people have been shown to be not guilty in courts, but have the stain of being 'outed' in the media before that and the 'no smoke without fire' etc.
Talking generally here.
Christopher Jefferies?
And then to have the added insult of of being suspended from work before having a say in court?
Imagine anyone on here being subject to false allegation. How would you feel?
And, without making it trivial, if we got to the play off final is it ok to make a load of allegations against the other teams best players just before the game on the basis they will all get suspended as a matter of course? - which is what some seem to be advocating.
Found guilty ? throw the book etc, obviously

That doesn't address dinsdale's post imo Nope, its a very generalised and base on principles.
As I was not at the event where it all happened funnily enough so can't draw any conclusions.

Why are posters still banging on about Barton being suspended the fact is he wasn't and most paying fans don't that concerned, given Saturday's game looks being the second consecutive Saturday sell out.
Barton looks very likely now to be found not guilty, assuming the CPS still even continue with the case, and so it will soon be forgotten.

The likelihood of JB’s wife inventing him beating her up and her falling into his fist after the other terrible misunderstanding of the other manager smashing his own face in and rudely blaming JB is incredibly likely especially after him accidentally stabbing a youth player in the face with a cigar, accidently breaching betting regulations and accidentally going to prison.
The fans chanting his name and saying nothing about it whilst the paid employees of the club parrot what a lovely man he is well thats also heart warming after this victimless situation got out of hand.
Hurrah for Rovers and our her game too tshirts. The family club, organic and a shinning light for a broken society.
You might not see what a joke this is but even if im the only one who does im happy i see it.

Seems a bit daft when there really and honestly is so much good stuff happening at the Mem right now. Barton is an irrelevance in the grand scheme of things.

See to my mind, any good stuff is an irrelevance so long as Barton is here.

See to my mind, any good stuff is an irrelevance so long as Barton is here. Mostly agree with that statement Angas but it also reflects the dilemma I and others face at the moment. 1. I've been a supporter for over 50 years and that's not something you can just switch off 2. There are only two things I miss about the UK, watching Rovers and a trip to a proper boozer (they usually went hand in hand in my case) 3. I'm enjoying the recent level of on-field sucess plus the thought of a possible promotion drive 4. Barton may be the reason for the on-field success but I struggle intensely with the fact he is our manager. I'm not letting one dickhead spoil my enjoyment so for now, I'll enjoy the ride while dispising the driver.

I think your summing up mirrors what a lot of fans feel about the JB situation, I’ve always looked at it that if Barton was a member of my family I wouldn’t be happy with him over his alleged allegation, but I wouldn’t turn my back on my family so why should I turn my back on my football club

See to my mind, any good stuff is an irrelevance so long as Barton is here. Yup, this is where I am. I don't think this makes me 'daft'. In a small minority. But it's where I am. Some people can 'enjoy the ride' whilst being mildly annoyed by / irked by / disappointed with / disliking / despising / repulsed by (delete where appropriate) the manager. Which is fine. Some people 100% back Barton as manager. A big shout out to Wael A-Q, Eddy J, Tom G and Bas.

Because it is in the public domain. As soon as he was formally charged, it became thus. Given Barton's previous convictions, his relatively high profile job, and his presence on social media... reporters were bound to be all over it like a cheap suit. Is it 'fair' that a high profile case would have their past previous convictions known by a JP? Probably not. Best not to have committed them in the first place I guess.
Hi Epping, hope you are well
This is in effect my question.
Why is it in the public domain - what makes it in the public interest for it to be so?
(and I dont just mean this JB case - it could be anyone)
I'm good thank you, oh poster of the contradictory opinion. I hope you are well too. What is in the public interest? It depends on your definition of public interest. Effectively that is in the hands of the media. If they have 'a story' (in this case 'bad boy' Joey Barton being accused of yet another violent incident) - the press know it makes good print and it 'sells'. The fact that it is alleged violence towards his wife ratchets up the interest. Is this story of interest to me? Yes. 100%. It potentially effects the relationship and the degree of support I have for the Football Club. The initial appointment and the subsequent accusation that Barton assaulted his wife has made me question 'what' I am actually supporting. It becomes an existential question. Am I a bit daft? Am I over-thinking it? As ever, the answer would appear to be 'that would be an ecumenical matter'.

Caroline Flack comes to mind, virtually a mirror type case, apparently her partner was never going to press charges, Only the CPS decided to go with it..high profile woman .out to make an issue of it...in the public interest they said.......look where they're stupidity took her ....😔 bless her

At this point can I just point out that not that long ago we had a star Centre Forward who was charged with rape. We gave him 100% unequivocal backing. So what’s changed in the presumption of innocent until proven guilty? Oh give over, he had dogs abuse and from many and he has said he would never come back here. Unequivocal backing my a5se

I do more talking than watching, this is evident with my view of games.

Does anyone go to see the manager? UTG!

It's always great to see a passionate Manager, thumping his chest / badge and waving to the crowd walking over to the dug-outs. We have had those types but also some very staid, aloof or remote individuals, but always BRFC and not the managers.
