AMPG's either mad or a genius. Hoping. That put a smile on my face! But I'm really not sure how it'll turn out. But I like the ideas, and am going to try to enjoy the ride

You can't but help but feel that Garner is not in control, he is not his own man. He was appointed as he is controllable, he didn't even murmur when his get out of jail card was sold beneath him days before the season kicked off. He has obviously been told to be upbeat and put out positive comments after every game which makes him look very foolish at times, loyalty is what employers will eventually feck you with and he is well on course for that eventuality. Can't see Garner ever getting a job in full time football again, he will go back to where he was found giving mentoring lectures, taking diplomas and motivational speaking, a footballing periphery guru . I think even his replacement will again be someone already on the staff who will be another under control. I can't help but feel entirely differently, and disagree with every comment above im not sure about this one. relationships between Manager and owner come in all different shapes and sizes. And there are often other people at clubs as well with responsibilities, so now you have more than three people with responsibilities and their own opinions there is politics. The get out of jail thing mentioned above is a good point. On the other hand, Hardon and maybe a n other may have been lined up, and Ben fairly happy with that. We are certainly not going to get an ounce for ounce replacement for JCH, but certainly chance to reinvest in something young and hungry, less injury prone, subtlety different qualities, maybe a couple of players. Certainly you would expect some friction at times, a good manager imo should be quick to go knocking on doors saying dip your hand in your pocket and give me another player. I know he’s not called Hardon, but there was attempt to give him a nickname based on some obscure French TV series? I really like this signing. He can help make us stiff opposition, maybe do things that’s hard for opponents to handle, it’s a big looking signing. If it comes off, of course that will make it difficult for some detractors on here to take.

Can you, or anyone else, tell me what that is/was please ? Are you talking of JCH .

Can you, or anyone else, tell me what that is/was please ? Are you talking of JCH . no worries KP. I took Bondi to mean JCH was going to get Garner out of trouble because he is so bloody good in a rovers shirt, and without much warning he was sold. Bondi inferred that the manager should have been very upset by this. I supposed that behind the scenes Garner and others knew it was in offing and had a back up plan. there’s another way of looking at it, JCH not just Ben’s get out of trouble card, but all the fans who care about getting results to stay up should be rather concerned too. But strangely enough, are we? Maybe with the confidence around the club and fan base at this time lulls is into thinking some ones on it and there is a back up plan. I do like the look of hardon, he could be the player to stand up for us this season.

Performance review in May. May ? I’m stunned but not surprised as I think Ben is bulletproof in having Wael to solidly back him

BG will be gone pretty shortly if we don't start improving.
He didn't write off the debt, sort out the training ground and deal astutely in the transfer market only to have a manager who can't step up.

In the scenario his points return stays the same and Wael sticks with him,we'll go down on I imagine a record low tally of points.
The possible 1000 allowed to watch a Mem game will go down and it won't be because of Cov19!

In the end it will be results that determine BGs future. Win some games he’ll be ok, fail to win many and perform badly he will be gone before Christmas. UTG!

fail to win many and perform badly I think this ship has sailed? You’re asking a question I think shoveler. Yes it probably has sailed if you take his total record. But I think the owners have invested in BGs vision of how to play and will see this season as a new start (rightly or wrongly) and will not sack him with only half a dozen games into the season. But ultimately if we don’t win games he will be gone. And the longer he goes without winning the greater the pressure will build until it’s just an inevitable event waiting to happen. UTG!

Cogs got the maximum out of the players he had I think. With BG, there is still plenty more to come
it's just a question of how long it takes to arrive

Whether BG will get it out of them we'll have to see I liked watching Luke James too. Not because he was any good, but because he tried to do pretty things with the ball. Same with Lambo, and Walks' 'Bergkampesque' goal at Wembilee. It looks like Westbrooke, and just maybe Tutonda, could have a bit of that about them. And maybe Nicholson

Following talks, Bristol Rovers & Ben Garner have agreed to part company with immediate effect. This is how it would happen. This is the statement Isn’t it? Not really a sacking, more a conscious decoupling due to each party realising it’s just just not working out, struggling each week and wondering where next goal and three points is coming from, but you wish each other well and break up on win win terms, maybe even with a polite acknowledgement from each party, this club, this manager, can still make upward trajectory to great things in the future. What happens next is Ben quickly gets another very good paying job as a coach or assistant in championship or premiership, probably even closer to his home. So he will be okay, but what about us? Following some manager sackings, Buckle for example, some fans in the mood to let off flares. But not this time. We all wanted it to work. We saw the robinsball and the momentum Coventry built last season, and we wanted it to be us. Anyone got any confidence that when Garner goes the board will get the next appointment right? so in the end. it was a sacking. Garners statement far more gracious than the clubs. The market wasn’t thoroughly tested (again) almost like they had someone lined up. Who was old team mate of widders strangely enough. the other thing of note, hard to dispute, when I created the thread we were struggling for goals and 3 points, by the time Ben was sacked things had improved a bit. The thing there is “a bit” and everything previous was still weighing his record down, we still lacked a bit of cutting edge both ends, and the brains trust in the club had increasing doubts about his game management. fair summing up?

Think BG had no clue to manage is a fairer summing up. But, much like your o p, it's a lovely thought just very difficult to implement a polite acknowledgment from both parties when one is in complete denial.
