A poor 1st half - too many long balls, misplaced passes, final ball poor, no fluidity or tempo and a lack of width.

Thoughts.Similar standard of play to last season overall.Lack of creativity.Glad the decrepit 'Welcome to the Mem ' sign by the tent end has gone.Lockyer great.Prefer white shorts.Grimsby fortunate not to have their player Brown booked.Really must have some creativity.Workrate first rate.

Also using firstrow, quality isn't the best but it works. Not keen on Leadbitter, trying too much when he gets the ball. Not the best? Well it's not HD but it doesn't freeze. I'm sat in my study half way around the world drinking red wine and eating cheese & biscuits watching The Rovers. Not the best doesn't really come into it. Trivia that no one will really give a s**t about.. Chris Doig playing for Grimsby played for the Central Coast Mariners. 26 games, 2009-2011

We are about 20 yards too deep and defending as a 5 with full backs not wing backs. But some OK play.

Lockyer has defended ok and made a couple of decent blocks/interceptions, but his passing has to improve. Too many 'hopeful' long balls.

Well I thought Grimsby played a lot more long ball than us. i thought we were trying to be too fancy at times. Maybe too many passed before looking to get the ball in the penalty area. It certainly wasn't hoof it up to the big lump of a centre forward

A solid if scrappy start, I've noticed a collective willingness to scrap and play for the team that was often missing last year, but we look blunt up front, DC is going to have to get better quality in the final third.

Watching here in NZ too.
Great crowd and atmosphere, average start by the team with lots of long ball stuff. Grimsby are well beatable though and we should win this.
Boycies little cameo interview blaming our situation on all the previous managers who were 'just not up to it" was hugely embarrassing.

well having said I didn't think The Rovers were playing long ball that much, they've just shown first half highlights showing The Rovers play the uh um......long ball, a bit.

You must have been watching a different game mate. The beauty of football 'eh - opinions.

Too much long ball!
Bobby Gould and Danny Higginbotham have pointed out the obvious and say the grass is really long, which shows that we want to play long ball.
Bobby said that he spoke to the groundsman and the groundsman sai that he cut the grass last night but it's just grown back quickly!!!!
Even Bobby was laughing as he told the story!
DC must have instructed the groundsman to leave the grass, which is a worry if he says he likes us to play football!

Wouldn't black letters outlined with white have been better. You can't read the letters on the blue background. Too dear?

So far doesn't look like there is enough up front, just like last year. This seriously needs addressing otherwise we wont be going anywhere
