Someone from the Fruit Market was on Radio Dismal earlier saying that even if there was an acceptable offer from Rovers, Dwayne Sports, The Magic Consortium, or Chris Grayling, it would take them (the incumbent fruit bats) 2 to 3 years to find a new site.
I smell mushroom compost.

Just as an aside, I go to the fruit market occasionally.
One time me and Mrs Stevens came back to the car with what can only be described as a “wandering member of society” looking through my back window of my car. It’s actually blacked out so you can’t look straight it.
Next time we went, I stayed within distance wondering if it would happen again. It did. Different guy.
I’m guessing dog thieves.
He scarpered when he saw me walking back full pace.
Be warned anyone who goes there, don’t take your dog, or leave anything in your back seat.

That was Lansdown's agent getting ready for our arrival....seeing if there were any more snakes to steal.

Does it? I sadly think it proves that a half arsed offer was made so that Wael could inform supporters that "something" was happening. Might calm the disquiet for a while. Or not. what disquiet exactly?
I think most fans are just getting on with life
Probably right, most are just getting on with it, it`s what we do best. But there is still a decent proportion, certainly on here, that have been wondering what is going on with the lack of progress on the Stadium.

Probably just the homeless druggies who live on the streets around St Phillips, looking for anything at all that they can convert in to money to buy what they think they need. Wonder what those lovely Ladies from the feminist movement would say about the fact that 3/4 of the people living on the streets in the UK are male. I'm sure they are fighting hard for equality of outcome there!

It's on the BBC R Bristol website for yesterdays pre-match 20man show, Weal's interview starts at around 10/15 mins, but he doesn't give a lot away investment wise, although the suggestions on the other forum are it's a consortium but Wael & MS are staying on. Damn. I wanted to hear it again and it's gone! - unless I'm being dumb (a distinct possibility). Now up to 31 pages at the 'other place'. Perhaps it's been discussed in far more detail there than it has been at Board level. And no mention of anything on the official site. We are potentially moving in to a purpose built stadium for the first time since we moved to Eastville in 1897, and not a word on the subject. How odd. Excuse my (admittedly predictable) scepticism. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p07hnztn - starts on 15.50

Still it proves an offer was made and is a serious proposition. Does it? I sadly think it proves that a half arsed offer was made so that Wael could inform supporters that "something" was happening. Might calm the disquiet for a while. Or not. Your’re right of course it could mean that, dangerous game to play with our supporters though, they’re like a dog with a bone when they get a niff of stadium talk, they wont let it go.

Excuse my (admittedly predictable) scepticism. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p07hnztn - starts on 15.50 Many thanks Angas. I thought Geoff was quite blunt with Wael, possibly a reflection of previous rather vague interviews. He could still have pushed him harder though. Why is the Training Ground development contingent on the new Stadium development? I have never heard a straight answer on that one. Anyway - I guess it boils down to trust. The still unanswered questions around UWE, the pretend redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium and the moth-balling of the Colony means (for me) - that Wael has lost a lot (if not all) of his credibility. That interview was unconvincing - particularly the fluffiness around time-lines. We have no idea how it will be funded and who the other parties are that will be engaged in the project. The latter two I can live with, and to be fair perhaps this reflects delicate negotiations at an early stage. But without a shred of any real evidence that this is happening, I am going to remain very cynical. Chances of this all coming to fruition? (sorry) 2% maybe? Other people (look at the 'other place') - are already stressing about which bus to catch, where to drink and where the disabled parking is going to be!!! Some are prepared to give Wael the benefit of the doubt and think this is definitely a serious attempt to build a new Stadium. I don't have a problem with that and I obviously hope that their confidence is well founded. So we either buy the land, or find that the Fruit Market project is not viable. I guess all will be revealed in 6 months or so? I know where my money would be going. UTG.

I wish I could be more positive but unfortunately I can't. It's just around the corner from where they used to film deal or no deal and it's definitely a no deal from me. Clutching at blue and white straws springs to mind.

I remember how excited I was when I saw my first set of stadium plans for Rovers. I think it was in the 80's when there were artists impressions of a wonderful new stadium at Eastville complete with glass roof. A few years later we were skint and lodging in Bath. After other plans too many to remember and list, we now have another set of plans, although nobody has seen any pretty drawings publicly on this occasion. Excuse me for not getting at all excited about this announcement as on the face of it, it appears to be the least plausible to date. I tweeted Rovers official twitter and got no reply. Standard stuff really. I went to the cafe this morning and was surprised at how many were talking about it, as if it’s going to happen. Anyone seen any landing lights ?

Will there be a Park and Ride option when it's up and running from Stoke?

I smell mushroom compost. Yes - I mean what does 'identify a site' actually mean in this context? Does it have any official clout or is it linked to some kind of process? Or can any of us just point to a random bit of land and say 'you could build a football stadium on that' and claim to have identified a site? (a semi-genuine question really).

In an announcement today the club has stated that in recognition of the areas rich association with fruit, a match day bowl of prunes and custard will be provided free to all the stadiums attendees.
A Club official stated; "We hope it will encourage more regular supporters and up the gas".
Sorry, can't stop myself. I'm seeking help.

If the Fruit Market land is purchased by Dwayne and whoever in the good name of Bristol Rovers, adding the Colony and Mem footprints, what mighty land owners they will be/remain.

The Bristol Post have really dug the fella out today and I'm afraid its true, the photos say it all. The interview on Saturday was yet another example of please love me, I know I'm a dick but I will say anything or do anything as long as you adore me as I have insecurity problems and need desperate daily reassurance. Can someone please advise me how you get planning consent before acquiring a site in the UK these days ? Surely this guy is living in dead dingo donger la la land ! The white coats can't be far away steering him to the cuckoos nest !
