League One or the Vanarama Conference? I can't say I blame him really.
Chasing a striker on loan already, does that mean Brunt is not going to be up to it again? Unfortunate for him and us if so.

I think it's just to take the pressure off Brunt, he was rushed back massively last year and look where that got us. Let him get minutes under his belt and build his confidence with a bit of pressure off.

Shows DC has ambition and realized/accepted where we needed new players. He is totally different from JW in terms of recruitment, good stuff.

You need four out and out strikers in the squad IMO to cover for injuries, suspension, style of play and form. At the moment we have White, Taylor and Brunt. One more is an absolute necessity IMO.

May as well ask the question here rather than starting a new thread; anyone know when the conference transfer/loan window closes?

Harrison ?? I won't consider him as a main option until he shows us (or DC) that he is capable of doing a job and committed to the cause. He let us down big time last season. It's up to him to prove me and others that he wants to be a professional footballer for Bristol Rovers.

Balanta maybe was a bit of an over-ambitious target, still would prefer someone similar to Gow who play as the attacking midfielder behind the strikers in the 3-5-2 and create things.

Maybe if you have a squad of 22, but not when you only have 16 senior pros on the books, including Harrison. 25% of our squad are considered as strikers as it is, even without including Jamie Lucas and Aaron Ward-Baptiste.

Good ambition shown to try and sign a player of Balanta's quality but it was always going to be a long shot with League One clubs chasing him. I applaud the intent though - it's good to see us after players of this ilk.
I am also pleased we are after a striker on loan as we need four out-and-out forwards in the squad if we are to have a chance this season. We would be even better equipped if we signed Culley as well, who is clearly impressing if he's being kept on for longer.
Fingers crossed we get the winger signed quickly because it's dragging on for a while. We're clearly trying to get the parent club to pay more of the wages.

Well we have been chasing a striker for the past 3-4 weeks (and have one currently on trial) so I would guess DC believes it is a necessity... As we saw last season though, it's not always about those front men. It's about the service as well. That is where the test will truly lie for us this season. Can we provide the service for the goals. The lack of service is what sent us down IMO.

According to the Press (and others), Harrison has reported back with his ''focussed'' head on. Obviously only time will tell, but fingers crossed, eh?

Like everyone else I am desperately hoping Harrison proves us wrong and develops into a good player but I am not convinced he has it in him. It may not be the popular opinion because I know everyone wants to believe those from our CoE are going to turn into influential players, but I have seen nothing in him that makes me thing he can make it as a striker or a winger. If you watch, DC and MS literally stand on the touchline telling him what position to take up and what to do as he has no idea. He doesn't have a footballing brain I don't think. The fact no other clubs were willing to take him on a free transfer this summer says a lot in my book. Having said that, if he can apply himself well he may fulfil some of the promise that his agent coaxed Rovers into believing he has. He has pace and isn't afraid to run with the ball, so if he can develop an understanding of what to do when he has it to feet he may be a useful squad player. I sincerely hope he does.

When he first started playing first team, he was brilliant and played a significant part in the second half of the season. Many said he needed to bulk up but when he did it seemed he lost the immediate turn of pace and also confidence. When we played our first game at Exeter last season, each time he got the ball, instead of taking it on he was hesitant and it seemed like he had 10 managers telling him what to do. The other players were all shouting to or at him. I don't know what happened but he did not run at the opposing team as he used to and was very predictable. He would run the wing and ALWAYS cut in so became easy to defend. I would love to see a re-energised Ellis come back into the side and tear the conference up. I hope he gets a chance by our fans. This season is make or break for sure. He could be a very good player but we need luck and support. I honestly do believe he has it in him but his contact with others who have left the club has seemingly done him no good. I hope the guy who first came into the team is the player who turns up this season.

Balanta would have been a fantastic signing for this level. No harm in trying and you can't blame him for turning us down if he still has a chance at League One football.

Glen Cattley would be a great guy for him to see and a gashead at that.
