How viable is the club going forward? How long can the losses be sustained? Are any potential buyers simply waiting for the club to fail?Hi Martin, that is one hell of a question and all depends on conversations between the Al Qadi family that as much as I/we would love to be privy to but unfortunately we aren’t. Looking at the fact, losing £3.6m isn’t sustainable and while Wael is emotionally engaged with Rovers, the rest of his family aren’t too that degree and look at the 1s and 0s and the fact there are an awful amount of minuses.
That is why the club have been up for sale for at least a year now, and that is why, if all goes according to plan they should be sold ... soon. However, how long the family are willing to keep pouring money into such a wide financial black hole is purely with them and, to be honest, is a fluid situation that also depends on their other business interests. What is the feeling now, may not be the feeling in February ... or May ... or August etc. So it’s a difficult one to answer. What is absolutely fundamentally clear is that at some stage, it has to change and there has been some signs of progress with the overall infrastructure, beyond sticking plasters over the Mem every few weeks. But there has been a concerted effort to try and address matters off the pitch through what is the club’s best asset(s) which is the team and its players. And the Tom Lockyer situation cannot be allowed to happen again nor can they allow a manager to have carte blanche over transfer decisions and wage offers.
Just as an outsider, although it may not look like it, the club as an organisation, they’re in much better shape than they were 12-18 months ago. 'Emotionally engaged' is that some weird new syndrome ?

I can't wait until October. Whoever is prepared to rescue BRFC as a professional football league club in the City of Bristol needs to do it now. Higgs left BRFC on life support. The Al Qadis will switch the machine off.
Don't let Wishful Wael get in the way. For every problem there's a solution.

Sam Frost in the Post yesterday re the Fruit Shoots...
The situation is pretty similar to how it has been for the past few weeks.
Talks are progressing on the fruit market and we hope to hear something by the end of the month.

Could knock you up a sketch of Carmen Miranda if that would help?

The thing I am struggling to get my head around is why did Wael put this in public domain and why did he say that we are looking to get it built within 2 years? Did he see it as potential leverage having it out there or a chance to take some of the immediate pressure off? Either way, the 2 year thing is a complete fantasy, so is it just that he's so deluded he can't help himself?

He most likely meant within 2 years of getting the green light

He most likely meant within 2 years of getting the green light that wasn't what he said though it was up there with Landing Lights, Crazy Gang and Beautiful Piece of Land as soon as he said it

He most likely meant within 2 years of getting the green light He was specifically asked if we would be in a new stadium in 2 years time and he said that's what we were aiming for. He also said the technical work towards towards gaining planning permission had already started (really?) but that he couldn't put a timescale on it because it's not his area of expertise. In the same interview!

Perhaps it was a tactical move so possibly understandable. But why add the 2 year thing? It's as if he can't help it.

I’ve seen it suggested that he could have been blowing the cover of the consortium in an attempt to cling to power at Rovers. Given the board now consists of just him and his mate and the rumours of him trying to retain a shareholding I can now quite well believe that Wael is hunkering down and doing whatever it takes to ride out a storm.

Back in the late 70's Rovers concocted an artists impression of Eastville with a 'Dome' completely covering the pitch, twas in the evil post, with the title of 'Rovers put a lid on it', ridiculous really.

Makes sense but, again, why throw the completely unrealistic fantasy land timescale into the mixer? File with the experts who have built 12 stadiums, beautiful piece of land, Cat 2 academy and the rest. The guy is not on this planet.
