Check “context” on Wikipedia. I don't need to: I am familiar with the concept. But some of the jokes had no meaningful context, just sniggering at the subject. Or do we NEVER use Wikipedia because it has the word “pedia” in it ? Well that's ped (feet?) not pæd/paed (child). So when American English speakers write against 'pedophiles' instead of pædophiles/paedophiles, I presume they are inadvertantly condemning the foot-fetishists. |

Check “context” on Wikipedia. I don't need to: I am familiar with the concept. But some of the jokes had no meaningful context, just s******ing at the subject. That's very clever. The 'N' word (I loathe it), the correct spelling of which is censored above, is perfectly innocent when preceded by an 'S'. 'S.n.i.g.g.e.r' need not be censored. But the machine doesn't understand the concept of context. Illustrating our friend Gregory's point quite beautifully. |

It's encyclo pædia/encyclo paedia, as well as encyclo pedia, according to the OED. encylopedia ... (also encylopaedia) ... ORIGIN C16: mod. L., from psudo-Gk enkuklopaideia for enkuklios paideia 'all-round education'. So it does come from 'education'/'child' not from 'feet'(?) It that clear? It's not to me. |

As usual there seems to be a couple of different version bounded about 1) we are being sold and Hani wants his money back 2) Wael has been sourcing outside investment and someone in construction is coming in will build UWE have a seat on the board and get The Mem in exchange. Who owns what, who gets what and what the FC is left with are the same questions as they were when NH announced UWE My belief is that the sticking point was point 2 and it’s a sole investor/buyer who will be announced in the not to distant future. The real turning point being the frankly abysmal interview with 20man. I caught up with Geoff & he said he could not get anything for WAQ even off of microphones. He pushed on the training ground and all he said was even he was bemused by the total non committal to even get any replies. I’m hoping we now get an announcement sooner than expected. I’m now in trouble for mentioning my 82 contact though not legal but not now receiving my calls. I feel bad about that as he’s been a superb asset up until now. I hope I haven’t lost his friendship. I really am a bluddy idiot at times. |

If you had said, 'mostly children' we would have had BBC execs flooding in to buy tickets, another marketing opportunity missed. How is making a joke about paedophilia even remotely funny? Furthermore, to somehow suggest that current BBC executives are that type of person, is libellous. Sorry to be a killjoy. "I will build a great stadium - and nobody builds stadia better than me, believe me - and I'll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great stadium for the Rovers, north of the river, and I will make the City pay for that stadium. Mark my words."

OK so I've just had the 'joy' of reading through this whole thread in one go which is in equal 3rds marvellous, distrubing and baffling. I genuinely do not know to which part of the many varied and somewhat bizarre branches this thread has gone of on the above comment refers to.
But big news on the club's future and possibly the Mem redevelopment is due in October in the offing? I am reliably informed that they are going to be announcing the return of Chewitsauras on a new 3 year deal and a 10 foot extension to the tent end. Both investments will be funded by the Twerton Chippy which they can then offset against tax.
