Coker no 3 according to bbc text Would still make no sense. All players lined up, keeper messing around wasting time, nothing else happening anywhere on the pitch, ref walks towards keeper and waves yellow card straight at him. As I said, our players on the field thought it was their keeper, they were shouting at the ref saying that it was his second booking. You would imagine that the referee is supposed to make it clear to the players on the pitch at least, who he has cautioned? It's not why we lost, but Southend were a disgrace, throwing themselves around screaming, one blatant dive to try to win a penalty, that's a yellow card, but no, not according to Ross Joyce. We've had trouble with this clown before. It just shows; A. the type of personality the job seems to attract, B. That the League clearly can't recruit competent people. But as always, the report will say that he did a good job. Here you go, this will give some idea of how hopeless this bloke is. Women's football is played the right way, crowds mingle, it's mostly good natured, until Joyce gets involved, When both sets of supporters, at a Women's match, react that way, you can be pretty sure that the ref should probably be considering another career.

So how about the statistics that say 4 wins in the last 20 league games how does your perspective stack up against that Fine thanks. I'm only concerned with this season and there's enough to think it'll be fine, today aside. You don't like the current owners or Darrell. That's plain. Your prerogative. Enjoy your bitterness. I'll enjoy my night in with my beautiful wife watching a film or two. UTG. I have no liking or disliking for the owners or the manager my only care is for the club so try not to act like the children on the other forum and use insults rather than reasoned arguments

Taylor, Bodin, Gaffney, Brown & Harrison gone. Replaced with inferior players. No UWE, Colony or plans for the Mem. Appalling run of form stretching back to last season. Evolution not Revolution? This is plain old asset stripping. Wake up people.

This is plain old asset stripping. Wake up people. Is it? How much cash have the owners taken out? We will never know if they or haven't ta Ken money out of the club but we owe them 12m approximately plus whatever losses we incurred in the last financial year. There are always rumours about owners taking money from clubs all over the country but to date non have been substantiated

I didn’t like the team sheet. Four centre backs, two midfield cloggers, and Sercombe on the right wing, Again. Is it daft to say the starting 11 showed more width and creativity after Lockyear somehow crashed during the parade lap? Truth is Injuries and suspensions to key players isn’t helping us right now. Smith in goal. James Clarke and Broadbent centre backs. Craig attacking full back (all full backs must be attacking in modern game) Ollie Clark and Upson centre midfield. When did this become the master plan?
Board not giving Clarke enough budget? I suspect The budget they have given him is far far more competitive than bottom four, car crash performances like this one. Okay. I’ll be the chairman. Go on ask me for more money. What? After you spent 300k plus sign on and wage on Nichols? RAOTFLMFAO. If you want board to give you everything you ask, fine, then go to a club who will sack you in seven months when it’s clear you are not getting promotion.
It doesn’t help when you play so many players whose DNA isn’t creative, it results in too much play that lacks the decisions and flair to hurt the opponents. It doesn’t help when the partnerships are samey, and players played out of natural position doesn’t help their performance or play to their strengths. It also doesn’t help when so many players in a side just aren’t good enough for this level of football. First touch, vision, decision making, the mental stuff as much as the physical.
This was worse than the Stanley debacle. Our first home game was merely disjointed, this was piss poor. James Clarke man of the match? That’s like saying one of my boils needs less lancing than all the others, an accolade he didn’t deserve on passing let alone his anticipation.
Sercs early injury didn’t help. Soft yellow for Payne after ten minutes didn’t help, it seemed to play on his mind. That may have been the first instance Southend conned the ref. The refereeing this season has been poor. Give a soft yellow early you leave yourself nowhere to go, you invite funny business from both teams and the fans. That’s what the ref done today, he stoked the silly games from players and crowd. “Refereeing assistants” are the worst. Back in the day linesman used to wave their flag until the ref realised He was fouling up. Alas Now the powers that be have castrated linesmen to create a breed of “assistants” that are nothing more than passengers on a motorbike, hurtling to the next incident where the ref is blindsided. Some may call Southend streetwise, others may say they overstepped a line with their unsporting behaviour. The bottom line is, ageing Southend, like Accrington, are not a good side, will struggle this season. But the way we set up, fell behind due to our weak defending unable to keep clean sheets, we lost shape and composure, confidence drained away as each minute ticked down to the ninety, we inflicted this defeat on ourselves. We didn’t do ourselves justice, that’s what hurts.

I am normally very positive and supportive.
Today was a poor game and I think we all suffered from over confidence after last week and a good performance on Tuesday.
It's a results business and they lost.
We have played 5 league games and lost all bar one.
Our strikers have scored 1 goal.
Our game plan was disrupted by Lockyer missing out. Then Sercombe after 18 minutes.
Southend won everything in the air. It was one of those 'orrible games.
Southend were not good. They were there for the taking. We needed people to step up and they didn't. Bennett went missing and we lacked creativity.
Southend left space wide that we refused to use.
Nichols scores instead of hitting the bar and we win that game 3-0.
Smith was a disgrace today. His attitude towards Danny Leadbitter twice. Calling him out for not being available to throw to. Blaming other people when his distribution and ball control is a major issue for him. Not a team player.
Ollie Clarke and Upson played poorly. They must be able to pass it simpler.
J Clarke played well again but Tom Broadbent stopped it being 2 or 3 by the end and should have been captain. Craig possibly instead.
A definite off day for Payne.
This time last year with a thinner squad we beat Fleetwood 3-1 but then lost home to Oldham next home game.
I still think Clarke is right for the job. He'll turn it round and find the right combination. Maybe 3 at the back has to happen.
Finally, we give the ball away from our own throw-ins nearly every time. This is a basic of kids football. Throw it into a space to give your team mate a 50 50 chance, only if you can't guarantee 100%. We throw it at our players and end up giving it away or their throw-in. It's not what you need when you're chasing a game.

For the 1st time since he built the conference team the manager has been forced to carry out a serious rebuilding of the team. Until this season the conference promotion boys were still the driving force in the team. Any rebuild after a good era is difficult especially with a middling league one budget and no clear direction from our owners. When the chips are down everyone from the manager and players down need to stick together and fight for better days. Including us fans.

Last time Rovers lost their opening three home league matches was way back in Season 1961/62. Liverpool 0-2, Bury 0-1 and Sunderland 2-3. At the end of the season we were relegated. My first season watching them and I still can't get them out of my system.

I thought Nichols was brilliant today. Man of the match, and deserves his place for the next 40 odd matches just so everyone can give him more time and not judge last season.. 😁 He was unlucky with the volley into the bar, sercombe was brilliant in that move, but as for rest....meh! No, he wasn't unlucky, the goal is 24 feet wide and 8 feet tall, he was inside of the penalty area, the defence was carved open by Sercombe, all he had to do was side-foot the ball into the net, he hit the bar. I liked the groan when the rubbish new bloke with the microphone, who seems to be a fan of very tight trousers, had to announce a 'Man of the Match'. Oh dear. I would have given it to Nichols, just for a laugh. How come their keeper can get booked in both halves and not get sent off, or was the ref just showing him the card in the first half so that he could see what a nice shade of yellow it was? All very odd. It wasn't just me, our players thought he was already booked as well. These officials are funny. Not sure what Lance's trousers have to do with anything

Being an eternal optimist, Tuesday filled me with hope. Today was completely abject. It will get better. When? Qpr.beat wigan today does that fill you with optimism that we can win there and next up we are at Shrewsbury then it's Plymouth I believe not the sort of run of fixtures to fill you with hope All three teams in some indifferent form. I see all three as winnable. Clearly we we have to start games better, stop falling behind. Starting with so many defensive minded players doesn’t help.

Danny tries but produces nothing in the opposition half, Nichols would have been less of a problem to us yesterday if he was wearing a Southend shirt, so they had had the liability and we had 10 players.

He's the clown who ruined our away games at Blackburn and Fleetwood last year with his utter incompetence. A total fool who should never be allowed to referee a game again.

Starting with so many defensive minded players doesn’t help. we started with leadbitter, sercombe, bennett, nichols and payne. Exactly, I’m glad you agree with me. Just 5. And leadbetter only in by default. Goodness, Craig at left back. Both similar Clarke and Upson in midfield, where one of those berths should have been Sercombe. But lets try some positivity in this situation. How about a 3 5 2 with Rodders and Bennet as the wing backs? Hardly more crazy than Darren Anderton as wing back in a Xmas tree? It gives two up top, two in middle, AND someone roaming the hole behind the front two, Matthews preferably, ide like Sercombe in there, I even think Nicholls could do that hole thing very well. (Please no bad taste jokes). If you are starting both Ollie and Upson, it would be better in a 3 5 2. With a centre back either side of him Broadbent could go on one of his Harrymaguieresque surges. Its not just your Emperor loves a 3 5 2, I actually think we have players ideal for it.

Wow, everyone says we can't defend crosses and you want to encourage opponents by giving them width!

Wow, everyone says we can't defend crosses and you want to encourage opponents by giving them width! We could start solving that problem by dropping Nichols so we defend from the front and don't play with 10 footballers and one fraud.

Wow, everyone says we can't defend crosses and you want to encourage opponents by giving them width! You say its only crosses we can’t defend at the moment? 🤭 I say there are other issues to deal with too. If the ref didn’t blow full time yesterday we’d still be searching for our first goal today. We need to get on front foot, keep the ball from opponents, and at the moment we need to score more than them, or else it’s death by wungol.
