HT 0-0. Not massively enthused by the line up. Sympathy start for Nichols? We are not a charity. I'll go for 1-1 at FT. We'll score after Nichols is subbed and they'll score from a lump into the box which are vertically challenged centre-backs will be unable to defend against. All of 2 minutes before we scored after Nichols was subbed. I'm hearing it was a rather soft penalty? A win is a win... UTG.

Mensah played well imo. Neat passes and one-twos, left his marker standing a few times with smart turns, and set up a few chances. Seems to have a footballing brain that our other costly forward lacks. Didn't see if it was him who gave the ball away for their goal but we gave the ball away so much all over the pitch all game that it was going happen sooner or later. We need to up the pace and show some urgency. Please don't play Nichols anymore, he's useless. Give Telford and Mensah a go up front for the rest of the season. Nothing to lose. What and leave Ellis out, that makes perfect sense if we want to cash in on him, or it’s along side him, I tend to agree a run for Telford, if there’s a chance to sign him, if there isn’t...... we we were flying the start of the second half, hitting the bar twice. I try to be positive about goal scorers but have to say Nicholls is struggling this season with us. Crap first half not too bad second half, deserved the result just about.

Bury players genuinely upset with the decision, it was hard to tell what the ref was doing, I think he booked 4 of them in one go for protesting, he pointed at all 4 then waved his card in the air. The way they complained maybe gives a clue about the 'foul'? Worth remembering Slocombe's save in the first half as well, fierce volley was on its way into the roof of the net, top save to keep it at 0-0. Bury pretty much doomed now, 12 points from safety plus horrible goal difference with 7 games left.

Hi just back.. Wet and cold. Ideal for football! Pitch actually stood the game well, great work, groundsman.
Interesting starting line up, but with two matches close together, maybe full use of squad well warranted.
An entertaining match which on balance, we fully deserved to win but acknowledging Bury did have their chances, mostly us gifting them, but nevertheless were in the game.
Positives... Bennett. Official m o m and totally concur. Tricky performance not from the wing. Unlucky not to score with a curious shot that hit corner of upright....it had everyone bemused. Brilliant replacement for Bodin.
Telford. Looked the business and scored within a few minutes of coming on. He seemed to enjoy it too with his celebration. I hope we see more of him soon.
Slocombe. One brilliant save onto the bar first half and dealt with most things with a punch that was effective. I feel more comfortable with him between the sticks and just feel we are a more complete team with his presence.
Ref. Prob (for me) one of the best performances of his trade this season. Even when made a mistake, he wasn't egotistical enough to be arrogant, he rightly changed his decision to a Bury corner. Both linos seem to be just as competent. Very refreshing.
Us. I think considering weather and not brilliant chances of attaining anything this season, over 9000 at Mem, hospitality sold out and not amazing attractive opposition, a very good attendance! Well done us.
Negatives... Ollie Clarke passing. His tackling was decent, couple of standard shots, just far too many unforced errors. How we yearn for a dominant performance from the Ollie of past few seasons.. Hope he can just tweak his game a bit.
Bola. I so want it to work because he's a lovely lad. Again a mixed bag performance, but very easily beaten by their number16. Young and alot to learn, he has potential, just not his day today..
Not too many negatives today.
We are 10th going into a tricky fixture on bank holiday Monday. Who knows? Just keep head down and try best. I see the next batch of fixtures extremely difficult to win (v Fleetwood, Charlton, Blackburn, Wigan) so the pressure is off I guess?
Shame we couldn't beat Northampton or Oldham or any other fixture this season, but guess can always think that! At least we're not Bury fans.....their defence is more kamikaze than ours and they're surely going down..
Maybe, just maybe we might be looking up. (?)
Enjoy Easter, Gas......wherever you are.

Biggest positive 9,000 fans on a grim day Easter holiday day against the bottom club....had it been Wigan or Blackburn on a warm, dry day we would probably get near 11,000.
Nichols has had enough chances now and cant believe Telford has still not started a league game for us yet. He deserves one.
Parts, Bola, Lockyer, Clarke, Harrison, Mensah all struggled. We did miss Sercombe but Craig, Lines and Slocombe our experienced guys did well and Bennett deserved a goal for his efforts.

Enjoy Easter, Gas......wherever you are. yup, what he said Ellis almost gifted them a chance in the last 5 minutes. There was a plunge pool in front of the South West Stand, from which Linesey took corners. We told their little playmaker, Styles, that it was probably too deep for him the highlights - shots hitting the bar/post, Slocombe's save, might be good callers to RadBris were mixed about Nicholls. I agree with the above, but he does look to need a confidence injection two of Parts' crosses were laughably bad, as was one of Bola's groundsman was putting a fork in the pitch at half-time, so it was like watching polo. Water polo, even Locks had a good game, I thought. Not sure if the first-half header downwards from a corner was his - it was perfect except it didn't have power Byron Moore's first few touches were class, then he misplaced a pass or two a very watchable football match, especially given the conditions

Not sure what you expect players to produce on a pitch like that? In large areas the ball didn't bounce, all over the pitch it bobbled horribly. Ellis struggled, but he got absolutely whacked after 5 mins, it was a fair tackle, but he was hit hard, he didn't move freely after that.

Don't know what game most of you were watching but I thought it was dire from start to finish, support was non existent until we scored. Thought that Bury were poor and are definitely doomed but from a neutrals viewpoint didn't deserve to lose.anyway 3 points but imo a decent team would have beaten us with that team selection today.UTG

on the subject of Nicholls, I liked his involvement and overall contribution. But he looked, in musical terms, 'off the beat'
his runs didn't coincide with where the ball ended up, his shots lacked confidence, etc. They say Locks is a great reader of the game, so puts himself in the right place, but TM just didn't seem to. He had a header which might have gone in, but which went just over the bar - a decent effort from a half-chance. For strikers on form, things just seem to fall into place (although, in fact, they anticipate it, probably intuitively in many cases)
he spadework opened things up for Telford IMO. And it was great to see Telford's immediate contributions (he had nice touches in the 2 mins before he scored), as well as the rest of it - space was just starting to open up when he came on

I think we may have bought a bit of a dud. One thing though, whatever happens with him, he'll never be able to complain that he wasn't given a chance here.

Think Nichols had our first 4 efforts at goal, so did something right to get into position

Think Nichols had our first 4 efforts at goal, so did something right to get into position May as well start with The Powerpuff Girls up front. How many chances did Telford need to score? How many did Nicholls have without ever seriously troubling the keeper? He is funny though, first half, him running flat out forward, Bury defender running backwards at the same speed, defender decides he's had enough of that so stands still, Nicholls has no idea what to do next, ball rolls to defender who jogs away with it, Nicholls didn't even chase after him. Enjoy the rest of your career in the National League North, because unless you improve, a lot, that's where you are heading.

Very dodgy penalty, think we'd be spewing if it was given against us but from those highlights we had enough chances to make it a lot more comfortable than 2-1.

Penalties eh? 1500 of us were spitting venom at Plymouth two weeks ago as the ref gifted them two in the second half.
I’ll take a soft pen in our favour all day long.

Pen was a bit soft, Ellis had a better shout. Nichols had one of his better games, but still a waste of space, even if DC said he was "excellent", Telford coming on and scoring straight away will hopefully not be lost on DC.

I also thought Nichols did ok today, shame he once again takes all the pelters when he was far from the worst performer. The entire midfield bar Bennett was pretty s**te all afternoon & Parts absolutely abysmal in the crossing department. OC getting the early yellow obviously not helping his own cause. Pleased for Telford but he massively bottled it when the keeper came out, had the ball at his feet ready to take it round the guy but shat himself at the vital second. Won’t hold it against him too much though. Ellis massively unlucky at the back stick as well, goal line tech anyone?!
