The lack of a match thread suggests a level of apathy over the game by some on here and to be honest I'm one of them.
It appears DC's strategy over the years has been to get out of the cups asap but surely we should beat Cambridge tonight?
2-0 UTG

Marcus is saying we need to attack from the start.

Magnificent performance all round. Much improved from Saturday.
Two good goals from Billy, a fantastic header from Ellis and a good home debut goal from Sercombe.

Really enjoyed the game with some good football played by both sides but rovers always looked the more dangerous. 4 great goals with sercombes rasping drive into the roof of the net being the pick of them for me. Bad foul on leadbitter early on which could easily have been a red instead of a yellow and i dont think danny was fully fit from then on. On the night everyone played well including the subs. Played with 3 forwards from the start bodin, nicholls and harrison, wonder if we will try that v peterbro on sat?

Great result and performance.
Work rate, tempo, passing and possession all top notch today which led to some brilliant finishing.
Positives... Sublime pass into Bodin for first (I think it was Lines, not sure though). Sercombe again looks the business. Danny made good first half showing.
Negatives... Hope no injury to Danny. Pitch looks good but underlay looks like it's not quite there yet(?). Didn't see the pasty sellers at end of match!
All in all entertaining match, and as we played them away on a Friday night just under 2years ago, look how far we've come since then.
We move on to Saturday a little more optimistic. Especially with regard to their result tonight (1-3 v Barnet).

Just got back. All in all I would call that a promising performance for a warmup fixture leaving much to talk about. Everyone played their part but key players were as follows: Bodin looks confident and walked through the defence for both of his (tidy) finishes. Ellis was lurking for that one clear opportunity, was alert to get in front of his marker and hammered his chance home. Sercombe scored from a bizarre angle, managed to get real power on it and looked an aggressive presence nibbling at Cambridge heels throughout. Lines has adopted a Pirlo-esque role sitting in front of the defence and pinging balls to the wings for fun. Sweeney got a good reception and showed effortless command at the back. Amusingly frustrated their big no.9 into a strop with the ref for his rough marking. Two other new boys, Smith and Nicholls both looked very sharp and energetic throughout - Smith clearly enjoys playing a sweeper role and Nicholls has strength and aggression that betrays his smaller physique. Both looking like good signings, already really looking forward to Saturday when the real business starts.

Definite straight red in my view, the tackle was a potential leg breaker.

Lino should have helped the ref out with the correct decision on that one. As above, thought it was a very good performance and exactly what was needed after Saturday. Sercombe & Lines controlled the game from the middle & the beard was everywhere as per usual. Special mention for Ellis who I thought had a great game tonight, more of the same needed Saturday.

Good performance against a limited cambridge team. Never really had to get out of second gear.
Interesting to hear Marcus on tbe radio mention ghe criticism of Lee Browns crossing by some, who just so happened to set up 2 of the goals last night

Unreal assist.

Comfortable enough win Bodin was superb felt Broadbent should have played alongside Sweeney and push Lockyer to right back once Leadbitter went off injured. Ellis looked halfhearted and was hoping our young striker may have had a run out instead of Moore. Gaffney looked well up for it against his old Club. Smith looked assured but his trip to the halfway line and missing the ball was a minor worry. Overall a fine win and FOUR GOALS. Bring on West Ham away for me PLEASE to complete my 92 Club membership.
