Vital Football is reporting: Bristol Rovers have today had bids for Peterborough United striker Luke James and Tom Nichols [rejected.]
Luke James spent last season on loan with Rovers but failed to find to find the back of net. He played a bit part during the first half of the season but was a regular in the second half after Matty Taylor left.
Nichols has only been with Peterborough for just over a season after signing from Exeter City. Last season he made 51 appearances and scored 13 times.
Luke James!!! Time to adjust my forecast and hopes for next season, me thinks. If James is a target I hope we miss it as many times as he did last year. This summer is becoming an embarrassment. The news of Ellis contract followed by the fact we are bidding for Luke James means next seasons strikeforce will be the same one we finished last season with, which was one was the worst i can remember since i watched my first match in 1995. There has to be serious question marks about either the budget, or DC's ability to recruit decent players. Blah, blah, blah, waffle, waffle, waffle.

It has been about two months since the last game. The horses have been frightened by other clubs getting in players, along with the very public statement that we are going for promotion this season, along the the club (DC) keeping things close to their chest(s), along with recent memories of starting seasons somewhat in disarray. Thankfully, as they say in cliché land, we are all different. I do not think there are posters sitting all day long worrying about the lack of transfer activity. Thinking about the squad and chillaxing, as they say in chav land, are not mutually exclusive. Westcountry was being a bit extreme, or mischievous, writing about DC's ability or budgets, but we really should start seeing things happen soon as July arrives and hopefully better than Luke James.

You would be very surprised at the kind of online postings that are thrown out there on a daily basis, around various social media platforms concerning football/DC/transfers/Wael/what other clubs are or aren't doing. People worry me.

Maybe we should do a Yeovil and sign anyone that's interested?

Maybe we should do a Yeovil and sign anyone that's interested? I am racking whatever grey matter I have left and I think it was Yeovil (or maybe Exeter) a few years back signed at least 11 players in July, I thought they should do well, so followed the results and the wheels fell off very quickly, and remained off.

I wouldn't trust him with table football. The direction of our football under his tenure went distinctly down, so unless you're a Sh *thead, there isn't much Higgs offers really apart from memories I'm still trying to block.

To be fair to NH the team he helped build got us two consecutive promotions but once we lost MT, and didn't replace him, we slipped to finishing 10th. Now that squad is slowly being dismantled this summer it'll be interesting to see come August if DC/SH have put a far better squad together.

I think droitwich gas is being ridiculously fair to Mr Higgs. Pretty sure DC can have 95% of the plaudits for putting that team together (and with a drastically reduced budget). The circumstances under which we lost Snake Bench-Warmer are well documented. If we'd had a chance to replace him (which we were denied due to that vile piece of scum deciding to go on dead-line day) - then I think we would have made / been very close to the play-offs. That situation wouldn't have been handled any better (and quite likely significantly worse) with the 'old regime' in place. The next squad DC puts together will be better than the last one. We'll finish higher than 10th next season. If anyone would like a friendly bet on that - let me know.

Can't be bothered to check it out religiously but so many of the signings other clubs have made are midfielders and we're pretty well covered in that area. I know Bury and Posh have made a few signings of forwards but I'm not really worried. DC has to be trusted and the fact he's signed a 5- year deal shows a degree of intent on his part and the clubs. I think we'll see some signings now that we're coming up to the first week in July with at least 2 keepers, 2 strikers and possibly a CH coming in. This will be supplemented by a few loans probably in August, the home clubs will want their younger players involved in pre season to gauge them against their first teamers. The signing of Sercombe shows me that DC is signing quality and not just quantity and that is a good sign. Also hope he signs younger players with something to prove and on the way up rather than players looking for a good contract which imo means the best players in League 2 and even the Conference and players from the Championship and PL who've not had the chance to impress. DC has a great record at improving good players and making them better. So not nervous, pretty hopeful, but being a Rovers fan have all my fingers crossed!!! UTG!
