Tom Parkes sent off yesterday in their eighth consecutive home defeat. After only two months in charge their latest manager Danny Webb walked out and the temporary boss Omer Riza was sent to the stands. The club's U14 Manager,Fredrico Morais took charge assisted by the supporters club liaison officer. You couldn't make it up!! They survived a winding up order recently but have until 12th June to pay off the debt.Think the Conference will give them time to get sorted but a big points deduction before they go not next season might help their cause. So sad.

My most local club - 8 stops down the central line. Regularly chat with their fans. I've gone way past taking the p*ss - it really is a very sad state of affairs. Their owner looks like he's trying to collapse the club is super-quick time. 10 managers is less than 3 years. Kevin Nolan (who still drinks in my local) is now doing a fantastic job at Notts County had a 47% win percentage and still got sacked. There have been unsubstantiated allegations that the club is being used for money laundering purposes, but if that's the case no-one can work out why it is being done so quickly. Apparently the new owners don't even own the pitch, they lease it from a Trust that Barry Hearn set up. leytonorientforum.co.uk/ makes interesting reading. It does remind me a little of life at Rovers 3 years ago under well-meaning, but incompetent owners. But the O's have it infinitely worse than we ever did. In their current state they have no hope and more likely to do a Stockport/Darlington than a Bristol Rovers FC. Very sad. London's 2nd oldest club.

It is very sad. I remember a fantastic season 1969/70 when us Luton and Orient were fighting for the two places in Division 3. Orient, as they had just become, were a great little team who went up with Luton I think. We just missed out, again. I seem to remember a 1-0 win over them at Easter in 1970 in front of 19,000. Great times, I hope they survive as a club but I think it's too late for this season.

LOFT - Leyton Orient Fans Trust is only a quid to join a month. Numbers should give them more of an influence so if you don't mind paying out a quid a month you can join here. www.leytonorientfanstrust.com/joinloft.asp

To be fair to Higgs (pause for effect) he was, as you say, well-meaning but incompetent. Orient doesn't remind me of that, because their guy doesn't seem to be well-meaning. I find it hard to fathom his motivation. A club as a plaything? No wonder other reasons have been suggested. Add to which, they're dropping out of the league with: a) a transient chancer owner; b) a winding up order in June; and c) like you say, no asset. It's hugely ominous for what was a decent salt of the Earth club.

And the latest (as at 19th April) is that no-one's been paid for March, and attempts to contact Becchetti have failed.
This destruction ought to matter beyond Os fans.

We will never know, it would only be conjecture but Higgs always said he would only sell to the right people which it looks as if he has done. I'm not itk so don't know but in this respect Higgs was good and seems to have sold to the right people so I would think he would not have sold to Bechetti. But I guess we'll never know and have to go on the evidence which says he didn't sell to him. UTG!

Speaking to some O's fans last night - they're convinced it's a money laundering operation. (That is their conjecture and not necessarily my opinion). The printers are unpaid - so no programmes now. I was told there was a folded over bit of A4 with the squads printed on them instead. The only other explanation is that FB is fabulously wealthy - bought a 'play-thing' and thought that he could have a stab at running a football club and maybe make a couple of quid whilst they were up in division 1. So when they started to slide - he lost interest, cut costs to try and balance the books, and now they are where they are. I might make the O's / U's last home game before heading back to Bristol for Gas/Millwall. It could be their last.

If it is a money laundering operation then I would imagine that the fraud people would know about it. In today's day and age it would be hard to cover up something like that I would have thought. Whatever it is it is incredibly badly run which can only lead to a higher profile which you would have thought any crooks would want to avoid. I feel sorry for the fans who've just watched it happen over three years and with the worse about to come. Blimey it makes our years 2011-2014 look a bit better. I say that because however bad it was with us even up to that Mansfield match I didn't think it would happen. Mind you that summer was bad! But they've had it ***t for this season and have known it was going to happen for ages! Good luck to them and like Tranmere hope they come back soon. UTG!

I'll be going to the last O's home game. Some talk that if the finances aren't sorted out / club sold - that the National League are under no obligation to let them in to the 5th tier of English football.

It's a tragic situation. The people I know in that part of the world say there are several bidders, some of them local, who are happy to purchase the club but this is being turned down by ownership that won't even negotiate. They also hold Barry Hearn responsible for selling up to these people in the first place which seems fair to me. Horrible mess and it'll be very hard for them to restart from scratch if they do go under - all very sad.

Barry Hearn resigned his (largely symbolic) Honorary Presidency this morning. If they have a real buyer lined up - then that is very unusual timing. 'Pub talk' of an American buyer or a local 'Travis Consortium'. Can't see why anyone would buy it in it's current state. Hearn still effectively owns the stadium and leases it to LOFC Ltd. LOFC Ltd has no funds left and has not paid anyone for March. Begs the question why Becchetti paid £4mil for it in the first place. LOFC Ltd had no assets (away from the value of the squad). Becchetti did initially plough some money in. He played at being a manager, they got relegated, he lost interest with his plaything, he decided not to invest any further. The fans turned - and it's all got very spiteful. If I was a potential buyer - I would rather wait for liquidation and get involved with the phoenix club. But that would be the end of Orient, established in 1881. There is talk of staff walking out ahead of the game Saturday causing an abandonment. If the game goes ahead - mass pitch invasion at 18 minutes. If it doesn't clear then the match could (again) be abandoned. This would not be in Orient's interest. It will be interesting to be there. On the plus side, I'll have a beer in the Birkbeck - which is a good old traditional East End Pub...

Parkes played at left-back, sadly at least a stone over-weight. He played OK though. O's battled hard - but gave away some comedy goals and deserved to get beaten. Match held up for over an hour after 85 minutes due to a peaceful protest / mass pitch invasion. I had my quarters on and had a chat with plenty of fans who appreciated the west country showing of solidarity. Fair play to the Colchester fans for joining in the anti-EFL and anti-Bechetti chants. I gave up at around 5:45pm and left. Apparently around 6:15pm they tannoyed that the match had been officially abandoned. Finally the pitch cleared. And then afterwards the players came out for the final 5 mins+injury time in front of a handful of people. Must have finished around 6:45pm. Must be some kind of record...

While I remember. They had a really good centre back (Pollock) and another one (Janse) who is quite possibly is the worst defender I have ever seen. Then I saw Clarke-Salter the next day.
Can't seem to add comment in the usual way - but there is a good 15 minute documentary about Orient's last 3 years. 3 years ago we had just dropped out of the football league and Orient were a penalty kick away from the Championship. It is indeed a funny old game.

The circus at Brisbane Road continues. I think only 7 contracted players on the books, no season tickets sold, the owner 'very close to selling' (but that has been the case for about 3 months now), pre-season starts next week, no guarantee that the Conference will even accept them under current ownership.

I heard about this while I was away - great news. Do you have any more information? Are these guys for real? Are they investing in the squad etc? Very happy for Orient fans.
