Hard to argue with many of your points above. I'm glad Prior has decided to step down, clearly he is not fit enough and doesn't deserve the derision that he has received from some quarters. I thought Piers Morgan getting involved in the Pieterson circus was a disgrace. KP's performance both on and off the pitch has been poor but I guess his ego was too big for him to voluntarily put down. I thought Bairstow kept well for Yorkshire in the Royal London cup yesterday but don't know if he is up to international standards. I agree with the inclusion of Jordan too and Plunkett has returned to test cricket well. Was quite impressed with Ravi Patel's performance the other evening too so potentially we may have a young spinner coming through. Agree with your view about keeping Cook as captain, there doesn't seem any natural successor at the moment but we are desparately missing his form with the bat. However, we cannot keep chopping and changing the side. Well here we go 3rd test just starting, playing surface has a little bit of green, so come on Cookie, be positive, score some runs

Well a good toss to win and a steady start, Cook lucky to still be in after being dropped off a regulation slip catch. Still has passed KP's test run record and if he recovers his form could even surpass Gowers this test series. Robson starting to find the gaps and build a score, come on England !! Doh ! Curses, Robson out !

This is a bit more like it. Obviously it helps if you post a monster score but this is disciplined bowling that is slowly grinding out the opposition by forcing mistakes. This is what Anderson particularly has made a career of. I know everyone talks about the eye catching days when it goes round corners for him and he take hatfuls but actually the main reason for his second coming as Test Cricketer and subsequent emergence as one of the best in World was built on stamina and discipline. Where he goes it seems this England attack tends to follow. Good to see. If we can get a 200+ lead we should be able to set up a shot at winning this one despite the relatively dead wicket.

Excellent win for England. Moeen Ali 6-67. An excellent performance all round really. Should answer some doubters for the time-being. Sets up the series very nicely for the last 2 games now. I have tickets for Old Trafford - really looking forward to it.

Anderson & Jadeja latest
England's James Anderson and India's Ravindra Jadeja have been found not guilty of breaching the International Cricket Council code of conduct.
Seamer Anderson, 32, was given a level three misconduct charge over claims he abused and pushed Jadeja during the first Test at Trent Bridge.
All-rounder Jadeja, 25, was appealing against a fine imposed for his part in the incident last month.
Anderson could have faced a maximum four-Test ban if found guilty.
Both men were cleared following a six-hour hearing overseen via video conference by judicial commissioner Gordon Lewis, who is based in Australia.

Absolute storm in a teacup on both counts. Hopefully that's the end of it and we can get on with what is shaping up to be an excellent end to this series between 2 pretty evenly matched but also very flawed sides.
On the other hand I think Anderson should take this as a shot across his bows. He gobs too much in my view and part of this whole business is the determination of the Indians to shrug of their reputation as being soft touches. That's why it all kicked off with Rahane last week - they're not going to sit there and take it anymore, they're going to fire back.

India are 15-4 at the moment. Anderson & Broad with 2 wickets each. They have tore into India after they won the toss & decided to bat.

6 ducks in a single innings, a world record equaling performance. After Broads 6 wickets & Andersons 3, IMO this is our best opening bowler partnership since Harminson/Hoggard. They have it all, pace, swing, bounce & seam. Anderson especially, at home he is in the batsmen mind even before a ball is bowled.

Stuart Broad is 99.9% certain to start the fifth Test against India on Friday, according to captain Alastair Cook.
Broad, 28, whose nose was broken during England's victory at Old Trafford, took part in Thursday's practice session on the eve of the match at The Oval.
Broad wore a splint on his nose and a new helmet as he came through the session unscathed.
"We're 99.9% certain he'll be fine," said Cook, whose side are looking to wrap up a series win over India.
