Great signing, was one of the best defenders in league 2 last season, a real rough and tumble tough guy on the pitch, great to have that type of character in our defence, the back 4 options looking really solid now.

Hmmm. A bit 'journeyman' for my liking. I was hoping we'd sign the other one.
Anyway, welcome Peter, and good luck.

Please explain how he is a journeyman. Please explain why he left his hometown club, of which he was captain, to join Stevenage. And its five clubs, assuming he's signed for us. Not knocking him, just not the Plymouth defender I wanted to sign. That's all.

A bread and butter centre-half, despite his link to jam.
Good signing - just when some were getting frustrated.
Parkes out and Hartley in - sensible business.
DC will like the fact that he can score at the other end as well.

PETER Hartley is to join newly-promoted Bristol Rovers. The central defender will join up with his old Hartlepool team mate Darrell Clarke, now the Rovers manager, when he officially joins Rovers on July 1. Rovers were automatically promoted to Sky Bet League One last season, and despite Argyle offering a contract renewal to Hartley, he has been given the opportunity to ply his trade as a higher level. Argyle fans will have warm memories of Peter, who played 96 games in his two-year spell at Home Park, scoring eight goals. All but one of those appearances came alongside Curtis Nelson in the heart of Argyle’s defence – and all but two featured Luke McCormick in goal. As a triumvirate, the three men functioned well together on and off the pitch. With Luke as club captain, Curtis as team captain and Pete as vice-captain, they led by example. Only one team shipped fewer goals than Argyle’s 35 in Peter’s first season at the club, and the 44 conceded in 2016-17 still placed Argyle as one of the meaner rearguards in the division. The last of Peter’s eight Argyle goals came against Portsmouth in the play-off semi-final second leg. His injury-time far post header sent the Pilgrims to Wembley, and the Green Army into raptures. Peter will surely be remembered fondly by the Home Park faithful for his determined attitude and committed displays in the green and white. Thanks, Pete – and good luck. I was beginning to wonder what the link between the two of them was, I'd already ruled out Salisbury but hadn't got round to Hartlepool yet.

I'm fascinated how you can be team mates when you have never played together before. Clarke left Hartlepool in May 2007, Hartley signed for Hartlepool in May 2009.

Am sure he will be a good header and should get goals which we've been missing from our centre halves. A good signing and will provide a threat at set pieces. Good work DC. UTG!

He's the dirty b****** who elbowed Gaffers in the ribs at the Mem!! Great player though, great signing! Welcome to the Gas Peter Oh well, perhaps he will do the same to our opponents in January 2017 and help us get a draw away at one of our promotion rivals! I understand what you mean but I guess if he's better than what we've got that's football and as you say great signing! UTG!

And I believe he left hartlepool because they sold him. This journeyman tag seems to be thrown around all the time, but playing for a few different clubs is just normal these days, especially if you include a player's youth club.
