To be fair to Higgs he did plan the Uwe in secret for years and it wasn't his thought that shopping trends changed and that it was held up for years by trash. He made many mistakes, however, we wouldn't have been taken over by Wael if it wasn't for the planning permission at Uwe, Wael and Hamer have both said that. So give credit where it's due, if we do get the stadium, he played a big role in making this happen. What secret was that?- plans for a stadium were in the South Glos plans which were published before UWE approached BRFC. NH happened to be Chairman of BRFC when they came calling You are joking right??? When the announcement was made no one expected it! Higgs, Uwe and Sainsburys said they had meetings in secret for years. Normally it is leaked, but it wasn't. All the plans were completed, it was not a 2 minute job lol. Yes they said they wanted a stadium, however, Higgs put in years of work, without no one knowing. He deserves praise for that. |

That stadium should be nearing completion, we should be ready to take delivery of it, debt free and all of the associated income streams. Credit the bloke for that! It's not as if the thing that tripped us up with Sainsbury's was a condition written on a microdot, hidden in a locked filing cabinet in a cellar, with a blown light bulb and guarded by a tiger, it was a clearly worded requirement that anybody could understand, and he agreed to it. He was a total disaster. The sooner people stop trying to rewrite history to somehow give him credit for an idea that he never had and stop making excuses for the monumental mess he made of UWE and of running Rovers the sooner we can move on. . He agreed to it as they were keen, no one new what was going to happen. Easy with hindsight, but at the time Sainsburys were building new stores all over the country, they wouldn't think they would want to pull out. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Still without the work higgs did with the scheme, we wouldn't be where we are today. |

Yep. I think we should accept that we all have differing views on NH and his achievements (actual or otherwise). All should be respected. But fact is no one will convince anyone else to see their point of view either way and we could argue/discuss/debate from here to eternity and create more heat than light on the subject. We, as a club, are now in a seemingly better place than anytime in the recent past. However we got here. I think it best we all agree to disagree where that is the case, each has a legitimate point of view - but let's put it all to bed now and move on with the one thing that unites us - Bristol Rovers FC. I very rarely post on here, but I'm a regular reader. I felt compelled to say that this is by far the best post on this thread. It really is ridiculous how many people on here just love to dig up the past and stir it all back up again. Can't enjoy anything positive without having a dig about the past. Just get over it for crying out loud and enjoy, let the good times roll! |

A lot of people have nothing but bad to say but he was my friend and he, for some unknown reason, took me under his wing and saved me from at least one intensive care beating and another that could have been very bad. He was, without doubt, the most violent man I've ever met but he was a broken man and his lunacy is all he had. He died in France after residing there for some 7-8 years. They say that you speak as you find and he did me no wrong although I understand that was not the case for many. He was quick witted and funny too. I miss the crazy fecker to be honest |
