I wonder how many Gasheads watched the game with the home fans yesterday. I turned up in a maroon hoody (my disguise). I noticed another Gashead wearing a Broad Plain RFC top. I ordered my ticket from Northampton some 10 days ago but they did not send it through. I therefore had to collect it from their version of Santa's Grotto using my best "Teyn" accent! Not only was my name printed on the ticket but also my address which I had to confirm. Anyone from the Bristol area with a good accent would have been weeded out straight away. I had ordered one of the last 4 tickets in the West Stand and was therefore very surprised to see 20 vacant seats in my vicinity. I had a great view of Billy Bodin's cross that hit the bar - it was almost an incredible start. In the distance the Gasheads were in fine form - made me proud. The two goals went in for Northampton but what a Gas finale. People around me seemed in awe every time Montana went forward with the ball - almost disbelief as he rounded Teyn defenders time and again. The goals followed and the Gasheads reaction when viewed from the other end of the ground was inspiring. Other factors of note: * Good (but expensive) catering in the very long first floor foyer at the back of the West Stand * Professional email promotions (two received already) once they got hold of my email address * The tie-up of NTFC with the University of Northampton (suggest we will be doing the same with UWE before long).

Found it really difficult not to celebrate our second goal, such self-control!

What happened after the game? Did gas heads give them a round of applause, or was it a quick exit to beat the traffic?

We were certainly giving it big to our players and manager who came over to us at the end so it might have seemed we were applauding Town. Out of interest did you see the right upper cut Harrison gave to their goalie which apparently all 6,500 fans in the home stands saw but which there is no record on the fan cam or match highlights ? The best view of it was apparently the minimum of 200 yards away in the home stands as opposed to three yards behind the goal net

I was in the home end with my Cobblers mate, got on the pitch at the end with him and felt very awkward.
Not celebrating the second goal in an obvious manner was a challenge but I think I pulled through.
Montano yelled "fing have that then" in my general direction.
The Rovers fans looked decent from where I was sat (right next to the away end).
However I will say I never realized how many bald, fat old dudes we have that like to travel miles every other week to spend the entire 90 staring menacingly at the oppo fans instead of watching the game. Weird.

Weird. I've no idea why I do that either . Actually I don't, although it does amuse me how stupid some of the bald, fat old dudes behave, a number who just stand around mostly the worse for drink who appear to have no idea how ridiculous their behaviour is for a supposed adult. I don't suppose you witnessed the punch every Northants fan 'saw' on their goalie from their unrestricted view did you, as you also appear to have also had the same view ?

No he's right, but they are not all necessarily fat and bald BUT they are way too old to be carrying on like they do ..... but they know no better if they even UPSET their kids so much that it reduces them to tears when they get nabbed by the cops ( as witnessed at Pompey for example !!).

It was a bit embarrassing tbh, I almost left the match early for the first time in my life because of the two twats in front of me. There were a lot of idiots of various ages and sizes but many more decent gasheads there to watch a football match. I'm pleased i stayed to the end! We applauded the team as they came over to thank the fans and as they left the applause carried on for Northampton. It was a nice touch that imo they deserved for getting promoted with 5 games to spare.

Also found it very frustrating that I could not celebrate our goals. I formed the impression that most gasheads headed for the exit after acknowledging the performance of our team. I was blocked in and all I could see was the swathe of Cobblers fans on the pitch. Re Harrison we could not see anything re mini-fracas with the Teyn keeper - appears to have been blown out of all proportion. Professional ticket adminAnother email from Northampton Town FC (fourth so far over a 12 day period but does not feel like Spam) - I think that Rovers admin could learn a lot from NTFC re professional approach to ticket selling. Sorry to be negative but our ticketing arrangements still feels part of the old regime.

It really is not difficult to be nabbed by the police and then charged with some utterly crazy stuff. A couple of friends have had a really awful time of it. One now has a 3 year ban and was fined and all because he questioned a copper about why he was arresting another gashead. The other one is now facing the same and all for having the temerity of having an unopened can of beer on him and not yet even in the ground people should be aware that the police have some extraordinary powers of arrest that they can use in a football match situation. I am gutted for both guys, I know I digress but we seem to be having some very OTT behaviour shown towards our fanbase. One would think that the common sense thing to do would be to either ask the guy to drink the beer and then let him go or to take the beer from him. They charged him and the friend who asked why, got the 3 year ban and a hefty fine. Be warned gasheads, it really doesn't take very much to get banged up and banned from doing the thing you enjoy most. The worst part is that I know both guys and they are not part of that macho crap that many buy into.

There was no punch. There was just a typical scuffle for the ball after Matty Taylor got Rovers' first goal. Ellis retrieves the ball, keen to seek an equaliser.Ellis might have got away with a little over-exuberance, but nothing compared to the offences Marquis (27) committed, unpunished by the referee, throughout the game. Edit: Sorry! Much lengthier debate (arguably too much debate) on this topic (and others) on the Northampton Highlights thread on this forum. Increasingly shrill protests from Cobblers when they should be celebrating their promotionSpot on re both points - goalkeeper wanted to hold on too long - he had also be interacting in a negative and provocative way with supporters for most of the half Very poor refereeing re Marquis a nasty footballer in very way some may call it 'professional' I call I cheating However that is what you should expect from a Wilder side! The deserve to go up but I saw nothing over impressive about their play once the game was taken to them Will need to make signings to stay in League One

Punchgate. I know Ellis can be hot headed but I just cannot believe even he would be so daft so as to actually clip anyone when he has only been on the pitch a short while. I think it's brilliant that he wanted to get the ball back in play so quickly & it epitomises the ethos this team now has. Really looking forward to Saturday now. I can see us putting a few past the gloves. Saying that, not seen anything from my bestie, oldland glover, in a fair while.

Hope they don't play 'Spot the Ball'.
