While I agree, him flaunting that sticker was a bit insensitive Looks like he was done with the old 'pat on the back with a post-it sticker saying knob trick' (but with a City sticker), that was all the rage back at school. Difficult to pick your way through all the posts on the 'Appreciation' facebook page. Tom Lockyer & Jake Gosling get mentions, and one person even claims Jermaine Easter was at the game. Looks like Tom Lockyer posted on Twitter he was at home playing computer games, but even if Tom & Jermaine did go they were born in Cardiff and I'm sure both follow the fortunes of CCFC. The only player you do see in a photo is Ellis and even then it's not clear where he is. Lots of Rovers & City players have socialised over the years, and it was mentioned on here last year that ex-City players (Mickey Tanner / Trevor Tainton ??) have been to Rovers away games. Brian Drysdale is often seen at away games with South Bristol Gas. It's easy to tell when he is there, he has his own song

How did this all kick off, a post he made or just spotted at the game?

Yeah just saw the pic, can honestly say I wouldnt recognise a single sheed player if I saw them around. Don't think anyone can blame Harrison on this occasion, for once, why he was in the City end is anyones guess though unless he knows one of their players?

It's even in the Evening Post, must be a quiet day in the press room.

It's a quiet day in the press room when they have to rely on their *cough* journalistic skills to dig up a news story

It's easy to tell when he is there, he has his own song Surely that's slightly different as he's an ex 82er not a present squad member? I just wondered what would have happened if an 82er had decided to shout "gashead" rather than take a picture given that a Cardiff away match is likely to attract the odd nutter or two who likes a punch up? If EH had been born & bred in South Bristol perhaps you could understand him being a secret 82er but he clearly wasn't so doesn't need to support them now.

Where's the evidence that he does support the other mob, I've yet to see any. Perhaps he was just having a night-out with a couple of teammates? In my time I've visited a whole host of away terraces where I've not been supporting Rovers, but I haven't been supporting either of the teams playing. I was just enjoying a day-out with friends.

Everyone has to accept (whether they like it or not) that not everyone has the same emotional attachment to the club as some supporters do.
For some, it's their job. Nothing more. They may not even like their employers or colleagues, much like the rest of every day workers.
If someone works in a supermarket or pub or restaurant, it's not unusual to use rival outlets without being criticised.
Ellis is an adult and free to do what he likes within the law. If he wants to join a couple of thousand other S*heads, that's up to him.
That's his choice, the traitorous Judas sod.. (!)

Agree, a total non-story: he obviously wasn't there supporting city, he was just taking in a match in which his mates were playing. Also, not much of a story that some of our fans are a bit 'heavy on their feet' if you get my meaning, and kicked off about nonsense.
But.... agree with KP that Ellis should expect this if he's going to play the social media game, especially troll-baiting of the fans that pay his wages. Bait trolls and eventually you'll get your hand bitten.
"Football is a lie" as Benitez famously said - we all know that, us fans, deep down, but that doesn't mean we want our naievety rubbed in our faces by the players. That was true for JJOT in his interviews and its the same for Ellis on Twitter . If you want to see impeccable Twitter ettiquette, check out Mansell's feed - thats what makes him captain material.
But, having said that, overall - this is a case of our own fans being chodders, Ellis has done nothing wrong in going to the game i think.

I must admit that I've played as City on FIFA In my defence, I am so crap at it, I managed to get a scoreline of Rovers 8 City 0 Happy days!

Ellis going to a City game, with away fans, is simply a stupid thing to do.
Analogies saying "I work for Asda but I still shop at Tesco", or "I have a Natwest account but I use an HSBC cash point" miss the point by a wide margin. Your choice of supermarket or bank isn't tribal, and it isn't anything anyone cares about.
By contrast football, at the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, is not like other industries. It's a world where the heart rules the head, however daft that is. And for supporters of a club, quite a significant part of what defines their identity is their rivalry with someone else. Yes, 90% of what we love is our team, but there's a good 10% that's derived from hating a rival. Let me put that another way: as a Rovers fan, a small but non-zero part of the love of it all, the mad emotion of it all, comes from the existence of City. I am a grown man but I still like to boo at pantomime bad guys.
So here we have a player, whose wages are paid by irrational people (like me) who love a largely rubbish, irrelevant team more than they should, and who dislike another team down the road for no rational reason too. I do not expect him to "love" the club like I do. Why should he? But is it too much to ask that he vaguely plays along? How big a sacrifice is it, when one of his mates says "do you want to come and watch City" to simply say "no, sorry, that might not be the right thing to do at this point in my life"?
So what we have is someone fooling the bubble of being a football fan. Yes, our rational minds know he likely doesn't give two hoots and it's just a job to him. My head knows that. But going in the away end of your local rivals leaves you in zero doubt; it shatters any illusion and rubs your nose in it.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but part of being a player is to play along with the illusion. It's part of what they are being paid for. If the illusion didn't exist, nobody would go.
And finally, it's optional. Him feeling pressure to abstain from going to the game is hardly a breach of his civil liberties.

I once spent a couple of days of my youth on an old version of Championship Manager trying to ruin City to the maximum degree. I just kept inventing new profiles and getting them into worse and worse trouble. They went bankrupt 18 months into the 2nd season and ceased to be another 18 months later. As an adult I realise that such exercises are utterly futile so I try and spend my limited time far more productively posting flippant messages on football forums...

i think most of you are being way to nice. its a silly thing to do, at least dont go in the city end if your going to their away match. All the relating to other walks of life doesnt rub, it not your normal unattached/unemotional financial decision.

Harrison has now deleted his Twitter account.
Driven off of social media by supporters of the club he plays for, brilliant.
Some people really do need to have a look at themselves.
