Why would he be angered by a rumour that someone might want to buy a football club that he has openly been trying to flog for the last few years! Why does the insider say there is no consortium and then say that they don't know what the offer is yet? All a bit strange. Indeed,.wouldnt you havs said, there has been no approach from anybody, but we are seeking investment and we are willinv to listen.to offers? Hasnt that been the line previously?

We would still owe the £2.6m and would still be paying interest on it. What has that £2.6m done for the club exactly? Did it build roads, viaducts? No roads or viaducts but it did do a couple of insignificant things..................IT STOPPED BRFC BEING EVICTED FROM THE MEM.! Oh and another small thing it may have stopped us going bust.

Oh and another small thing it may have stopped us going bust. I can't imagine Barclays would try and evict us from the Mem, as they were the biggest outside debtors before we took out the Wonga loan?

Oh and another small thing it may have stopped us going bust. The Sye Ten Bruggencate of the forum strikes again! Being an apologist is fine, but you need to be able to defend your position. We've wasted more money on a court case than it would have cost to pay Barclays, and Hell will freeze over before Geoff would have the FC evicted to get that money back.

Did it STOP or POSTPONE BRFC BEING EVICTED FROM THE MEM? Has any of it been spent rebasing the finances so that we can stand alone without BEING EVICTED when it expires (which is weeks away)? Or has it been wazzed against a wall and left us an extra million quid up Unpleasant Creek? Oh and another small thing, what happens next?

Sorry if I am being dim but as I understand it, we own the mem. Why would we then evict ourselves ? I believe we were forced into the loan as Barclays called their money in. The club paid GoD 200K as a part payment and the rest has/is being used towards the court case and for the day to day running of the club. No one could guarantee that we would get promoted so the club may have borrowed to keep us afloat had we stayed in the non league hell ? Apparently, this is just the information I was told, none of the current board will add anymore money. If this is true then it would make sense why Nick Higgs brought in Colin Sextone, partly in any case.

My understanding (from what has been posted on the forums) of the Barclays repayment was that they were prepared to renew the loan but didn't want to increase their position to repay GoD and pay for the court case. That position has been justified when you see that the MSP loan continues to grow as we go from appeal to appeal. No bank wants to be in the position where it is forced to increase lending simply to fund a legal case that may be lost..

Sorry if I am being dim but as I understand it, we own the mem. Why would we then evict ourselves ? The Wonga (or MSP for pedants) loan is secured against the stadium. It's still highly unlikely to happen, but the fact remains that it makes action to recover the debt secured against the stadium more likely rather than less likely. But aplogists won't let facts get in the way of their pre-determined opinions.

Always glad to see how many people don't know what they are talking about when it comes to a charge over property, especially as most people will be in the position of being involved in one in their lifetime . And bollocks will I be explaining it for the fifth time on this forum.

We own the Mem like most people own there own home which is a fallacy as they part own the home and the balance is owned by the bank /building society who hold a charge over the property. Barclays held the mortgage on the mem so why wouldn't they exercise their charge on the mem and repossess them mem. They wanted their money, how else was BRFC going to pay it without defaulting on the payment?

Just the Devil in me wonders if this consortium was a move instigated by Sainsburys ? I know I am being daft but it would be evil genius for them to do something like this and totally undermine the club, prior to an appeal hearing. As I say, just me and my crazy mind. If it were them, using other people to do this, it really has put the cat amongst the Pigeons. I k ow it's daft and probably very stupid of me to post it but you just never know.

I thought the only debt secured on The Mem was with "Wonga" now that Barclays called in the mortgage?

I think we're a minor - barely on the radar - irritant to Sainsbury's, refusing to take 'no' for an answer and go away after two years and a High Court Judgement. They just need to wait and go through whatever hoops are laid out. That's mildly irritating for one small department of a mega business. No need for them to bother with the dark arts or to waste any more time on it than they need to.

If we didn't raise the money from Wonga to pay Barclays, what do you think the outcome would have been? I don't know if the Woga loan is secured on the Mem or not but I suspect it is.
