Didn't we also look into a St Phillips site in 1990s?? Think.the fruit market was mooted for a shared stadium but nothing more

I don't think the owners, and it wasn't Rovers as Fantatical pointed out, ever tried to build a stadium there. Admittedly it never got further than an artist's impression of how the ground could look, but there were definite discussions about the site. Yes, it was in the aftermath of the rejection of the Stoke Gifford plan. Rovers had the training ground at Hambrook, so the logical response (possibly a knee-jerk reaction) was "how about converting the training ground into a stadium?". The idea gained a bit of credence, but Fox quashed it, coming out with his "tiny minds" comment, filmed near the A4174 between Filton and Hambrook.

The club also had a proposal in 1955 to build a new stadium in Speedwell near what is now the school close to what is now Broad Plain Rugby Club. The Supporters Club meanwhile paid for the new North Stand and floodlights at Eastville so they decided to re develop instead of moving. Greyhound racing and a well supported second division (Championship) football club with average gates of 20,000 pushing for First Division football. What was not to like .....where did it all go wrong ? I assume you mean B***** Hill rugby, Broad Plain rugby is the site of the dark sides original ground!
As for proposed grounds that never happened (i.e. all of them) off the top of my head I can think of Stoke Gifford, Mangotsfield, Avonmouth , Severnside, Temple Meads, Filton and the UWE.

Plans I remember in no particular order; Filton - Walliscourt Farm Stoke Gifford - Rock Lane? Mangotsfield - Carsons Rd Severnside Memorial Stadium 1 - Redevelop North and East sides into an L shape all seater with approx 11,000 places Memorial Stadium 2 - 18,500 all seater surrounded by student flats. UWE Wallcourt Farm, Filton, is where the plans for the UWE Stadium are. I can't remember that site coming up in previous proposals. I don't think the scheme at Hengrove has been mentioned yet; that wasn't one of my favoured options! Think others have already covered: Hallen, Fruit Market (St. Phillip's island), Mangotsfield, Hambrook, Stoke Gifford ...

Yes, there was definitely a proposal to move to Wallscourt Farm a few decades ago. One of my earliest memories is of my nan and me being chased by a horse in the fields near the farm! I can't remember exactly when Rovers were first linked with the move, but I'm sure "Feeling the Blues" is correct in putting Wallscourt Farm before Stoke Gifford in chronological order.

Blimey I forgot all about the Mangotsfield site which have been ideal for me at the time, although looking back at it now you do wonder if the BoD deliberately chose areas they knew full well they'd never get pp to build!
Given the issues getting surely redeveloping the Mem was always the best option? Why did NH bin that idea when it would have been within our grasp once the banking crisis was over!

If I remember right the 'centre for sport' at Stoke Gifford had David Lloyd leisure as one of its partners. Not sure why it didn't happen, but I believe a lot of it is now housing.

I recall someone posting a picture on the old forum from the Evening Post in the 1950's showing a picture and article about a planned covered stadium for Bristol Rovers but I don't remember where it was to be built, probably in never never land
