If a team is going to play with those traits as you say, at some point under extreme provocation there will be a reaction of some sort. Understand and agree with what you are saying, irish, but there comes a point where injustice is injustice....and I feel Ellis doesn't deserve the label of letting himself and team down due to lack of discipline, in the face of every niggle/foul/assault going unpunished, including play acting like you've been shot by a sniper on a 50/50 challenge. It's laughable! Extreme provocation ?? It's a man's game and your reaction is a bit laughable really.

Good grief. He's a kid. A kid who has played a huge part this year. Some folk need to calm down. Fully agree, that is why I said I was impressed with what DC had to say. He gave 100% and you could see he wanted it, OK silly 2nd yellow but he will learn. I think the 1st Yellow was the unnecessary one. He had no need to be near it. Just learn to walk away from the ones that aren't about you. I never understood why players get involved in the ones that don't involve them. Look at some of the stuff Lineker had to put up with & there was a lot worse in his day. So many could learn by watching his videos

With regard to Ellis, he made a cock up, it's a cock-up that didn't luckily cost us last night. I think we'll have enough at home to squeeze through but if we play well that may cost Ellis his chance to play at Wembley. He's a young lad, he f**ked up, it didn't cost the team, now let's move on together and get behind the lads.

I thought FGR were like rabbits in headlights in the first half. Totally overwhelmed by the occasion. We played well but they let us have so much time of the ball in the middle third. We just dictated the game. I was dissapointed we weren't more than 1 up at half time because that allowed them to regroup. They were a much better team in the second half. They pressed us more and we had less space to operate in. Nevertheless we looked comfortable enough till Harrison's sending off. Just brainless I'm afraid - 2 cheap, silly bookings and now the tie looks tougher than it should because we only have 2 fit strikers for the 2nd leg. Yes he's young and it wasn't a horrendous thing to do but it was very unprofessional and has sold his teammates down the river; playoff ties are usually by the team that best keeps its cool over the 2 legs. I feel a bit sorry for him and I hope he doesn't (and Rovers don't) end up paying a high price for it. But how can you complain about being 1 up going back to the Mem for the home leg? As long as we use on the ground football and don't start out slowly, as we did V Alfreton in the first 15-20 mins, I see us doing well. The players are now enjoying the bigger crowds and I believe are a more capable side, all round. We played most of the season with Harrison as a sub albeit a great impact sub. I believe we have the players to do this. I didn't think I'd be saying that, not at any stage. This team is leaps & bounds better than it was. Well done DC. Well done Gasheads.

One could say he had a right to go down, holding his leg in mock agony. No, it's a man's game and some need to address their own demons

It's laughable! It was a poorly refereed game but that's still part of football and you have to deal with it. Nathan Blisset and Lee Mansell are 2 of the most booked players in the league so it's not as if we don't mix it up on occasion ourselves. Injustice maybe injustice but you can't effect that. But indiscipline is also indiscipline and you can effect that. Part of being a professional is putting up with all that crap and not reacting, particularly if you're a striker. If they're overmatched teams are going to do everything they can to stop you within and without the rules; sometimes you'll get help from the ref but mostly you won't because referees nearly always give defenders the overall benefit of doubt in those battles. You can't react and 2 wrongs don't make a right.

From the FGR forum: 'I'm not sure Clough's challenge on Puddy was as bad as being made out, he went to volley a ball which Puddy snatched out the air'. What game was he/she watching?

From the FGR forum: 'I'm not sure Clough's challenge on Puddy was as bad as being made out, he went to volley a ball which Puddy snatched out the air'. What game was he/she watching?. . . quite a different one to me it would seem. I thought I saw Puddy making his way forward to the edge of the penalty area with the ball in his hand, and past several other assorted players, when Clough kicked out at Puddy's ankle for no obvious reason. At best it was a cowardly act on Clough's part and worthy of a yellow card at least, but most independent observers would have awarded a straight red. There's no doubt in my mind about that. It wasn't even a professional foul, just an act of petulance and/or unpleasantness by Clough. I think that the player is settling into his new surroundings rather well.

Just read this on their forum: They're so funny Yeah but what was even funnier was the Sh*thead being dragged out/rescued by the Police from amongst our well behaved fans in the home end terrace. I bet he was crapping himself after being given a proper enthusiastic 'welcome' by our extremely well behaved fans

Ha, ha, I'm still laughing now at that comment. Danny Higginbotham was incredulous with the decisions the ref was making during his commentary

Tbh their forum gives the impression that their fans are largely naive woolybacks. Far be it from me to suggest this is what they are in reality...

The fish and chips and the drinks were nice in the hospitality though Ark at him, living it up with the toffs! Only partially, I was invited there by a season ticket holder but there was no way was I giving up my place on the away terrace, so was escorted from hospitality (as I was wearing the famous blue and white quarters) to the away terrace where I had the pleasure of being caught on BT Sport throwing a plastic willy around with the best fans in the world ! So all in all a good evening all round
