I'd just like to clarify that I don't give two sh**s what they say about us. I'm just surprised they care about us so much to make a 320 page thread.

its perfectly natural ... 2 teams one place , years and years of past games , work mates , friends and family who support the 2 teams .... whats the big deal , despite each others claims we and them are always going to be interested in whats happening across town , nothing wrong with that at all , healthy rivalry if you ask me , i hate them , i dont care what league they are in, how far below or above them we maybe , they will always be one of the 1st results i look for after us and teams near us in the league... there is no better feeling than a rovers win and a city defeat on the same day...
they murder us on 'that thread' and i'd do exactly the same if the shoe was on the other foot .... we have to just take it for now and fingers crossed it will be our turn sometime. dont bite or rise to it ... chuckle along and enjoy the fact that we will always matter to them ... just as they do to us !

I have just had a quick scan of it now, we would be doing exactly the same, mind you I agree with one thing they say and that is we are not rivals anymore. Still hate them though

Sadly I live on the south side of the river now after being brought up in Horfield, and daily I go past the gate so I see the rebuild of it going up right before my eyes.
That red bunch have always been so far stuck up there own backsides that its unreal...Always saying that we are small fry, have no fans, crap ground etc... but in reality they are in pretty much in the same position as a club as they were 20 years ago but we have gone backwards!
Ok, they have a promotion in the bag, and have a new stadium building but they don't realise or will admit that we have just as much ( if not more so) potential as they do!
Ask yourself, would they be getting the crowds that we do if they had to spend 10 years playing in Bath for there home games, see your best players and hero's sold again and again, and your club drop like a stone from being an old div two/championship side, to having more or less a decade of league two football, and then see your club drop out into non league football? no they wouldn't.
They always say "Mind the gap"..... well there has never been a "gap" as such. They have just been bank rolled by rich chairman for the honor of not growing themselfs, but watching us drop down the football landscape. I hope we get promotion ourselfs in a few weeks, and get the UWE built so we can have a real crack at being Bristol's best!

To be fair, if roles were reversed, i'd have pissed myself laughing at them getting relegated to the Bananarama, but that would have lasted the summer and then they go back to being insignificant in my world.
Strange as they were not far off being in L2.

They claim their thread is just to take the piss out of us. Alright do that for the Summer after our relegation, we all would to. But still going a year on is clear obsession. They love us really They'd be lost without us.

The truth is we are rivals. Always have been, always will be. Not strictly true, the rivalry can be traced back to 1982 when City were formed.

They are horrible, disgusting, ugly, Natch drinking, benefits scrounging chavs and the only thing they got going for them is championship football with a better s**t hole than they used to have.

But we are Bristol's Best, they just don't know it yet ! Now come on, don't give them a reason to take the p*ss out of you. But we are the best, we don't go in for the inbreeding they do so we have a better bloodline which goes back to 1883, not 1982

They wouldn't get 7500-8500 if they ended up in the Conference.

I'm fascinating how many Teds have to comment or react to comments left on my blog each week. I don't imagine many of us even read a blog about the goings on at Ashton Gate

They're just laughing at us. If roles were reversed do you think we wouldn't be gloating and having a laugh at their expense if they were now Non-League? Cast yourself back to that rediculous Oh Yes thread on the old OF, that has come back to bite us in the ass big time. In the s***heads eyes we are just the gift that keeps on giving. We need to sort ourselves out and then hopefully in the not too distant future we can have a little brag back at them, here's hoping, eh? Laughing but still obsessed. Monkeh claims he's not obsessed but he'll be on the Rovers and City forums all day long copying and pasting stuff over. 400+ posts on a thread about us from one user surpasses humour and becomes obsession.

The truth is we are rivals. Always have been, always will be. Not strictly true, the rivalry can be traced back to 1982 when City were formed. I don't agree with that statement. I have actively supported BRFC since 1957, and I really do believe that there has always been rivalry between the two clubs during my time as a supporter of BRFC. Goodness knows that I had to endure enough banter during the 1960s and right up to the end of the 1970s in particular from workmates et al, at a time when we didn't seem to do so well against the other mob. The difference was that at that time the rivalry was good natured and of the friendly variety. But where I would agree with your post to a degree, was that the rivalry stopped being as friendly after 1982, or even possibly a while before that. Then it became decidedly more edgy, in fact not friendly at all. It may have something to do with their demise in 1982, or it might be linked to how society has changed since then, or it might even be a combination of the two. Who knows? But I do miss the days when both sets of supporters used to mingle on the terraces, and enjoy a laugh and joke. It seems a lifetime ago now, and in fairness I suppose that it is for some of us. I enjoy the banter with them enormously, the giving and the taking, so long as the spirit is right. There really is no need for any unpleasant verbals or violence in my opinion. But to answer the question posed by the thread, I don't believe that their supporters are obsessed with us, as others have said they are laughing at us . . . and with good reason too. We have become a laughing stock to them, almost an irrelevance, and an embarrassment to ourselves, and until we redress that situation then they will continue to laugh at us. Thankfully we seem to be heading in the right direction now.

Some of them are obsessed with us. It's odd. They'll win the league but for some of their fans, the season won't be complete unless we fail to go up. It's quite pathetic.
Places like the Evening Post website are a good example - any article about us has the same dozen or so barely-literate chaps spouting dull barbs like "Sags" or "Mind the gap" or "The family club" - the latter being hilarious as their hooligan element is far worse than ours.
I don't have to like it, in fact I hate it,but we'll be in pole position to gloat when we're doing better than them.
Neither club is run well - both are based on borrowing and debts, Lansdown has made mistakes but Higgs has made more. Can't blame their fans for the fact that financial doping is allowed.
I'd imagine that every Gashead that ever existed has a friend or relative of the red persuasion, so the idea that they're all inbreds with no teeth is a bit silly. If they're inbred, so are half of us!
What really makes me chuckle is when any of their lot try to claim we don't matter - as if Swindon or Cardiff is "the derby" now. Still sold out the B&Q stadium for our visit last year didn't they?
No other game - not Yeovil, Chlentenham, Swindon, or anyone, holds the significance of the derby.
I almost wouldn't care what Football League division it were in for regular derbies with them every year.

What's weird is going on our rivals forum and reading what they say about us, what's that all about if it's not an obsession about them ! I'm fairly sure a one-off read is hardly an obsession compared to a 320 page thread on us? Just so long as you didn't read all 320 pages, I think that's just about acceptable
