Off the back of today's win at Kidderminster, we're now guaranteed a top 3 finish. We'll therefore be at home in the second leg of any play-off should we not make pole position. Congratulations to the manager and players. Would've snapped the hand off anyone offering that at the start of the season.

If we can't finish top then I hope we draw Macclesfield in the playoffs, considering Forest Green and Eastleigh are the only sides we've been unable to beat so far along with Dover and Alfreton.

Would have taken that at the start of the season, but would forgo the Wembley drama if we get over the line top of the table. We shouldn't fear anybody though on a good Wembley surface. Oh hang on would have the semis first, again, over two legs I'd be pretty confident.

If offered our current position I'd of said "no deal" at the start of the season. We should be 100 points up by now.
Keep winning our games and we'll go up, it is as simple as that. I'd infinitely prefer to win the division though.

What astafjevs is saying is if we win all our games from now to the end of the season - we will go up. There are two ways this will work - either three wins will be enough to be top come the end of the "normal" season, or if not, we will go up via the paly offs if we keep on winning - the two legs of the play off semi, plus the wembley final.

I'm also saying that if offered a 2nd place finish I would have said no thanks because I've thought we can and should win the division all season. It's not "expectation", it's just observation. We're better than virtually every other side I've seen this season. The only side that I've thought were better than us was Eastleigh, but their results suggest that performance level hasn't been sustained like ours generally has.
I don't see why we should have accepted 2nd when 1st has always been achievable.

Barnet's goal yesterday was so soft and from an error by Dartford.

From the Barnet forum, oh they makes I laugh. Post by Masuka » 06 Apr 2015, 20:24 "We must remember we are in the Conference. We have a beautiful pitch, probably the best in the league so there is no excuse for hoofball there, but when we go to teams with a farm as a pitch then it's not feasible to play slick flowing football on the deck. I thought we should be good enough to win this division yes. I certainly wouldn't have meekly accepted a playoff spot.

After 46 games it could all come down to Mildenhall letting in a soft goal v Eastleigh, unless Barnet fail to win one of their remaining games.

I based it mainly on the fact that I've never believed the Conference is as good as League Two having watched a bit of it over the years and that we had kept the better (in terms of effort) bits of our squad together and added some experienced players. I also thought Jamie White was a good signing and a fit Brunt would run riot.
Why should we have meekly accepted a play off spot when there was a division to be won? The lowest point for me was at Altrincham but as badly as we played that day it was clear you didn't need to be very good to win games at this level.
