The evil post is a generally terrible paper and has been for ages .I only used to buy it ifor the sudoku and the green un pull out now I don't even bother to pick it up let alone waste my money on the rag . As for that lot they are making the most of there good times and making more money for there club outside of football , which as its been said we should have done the same . But when you get dounuts on talk sport talking dribble about going to the Premiership and they deserve top flight football it's only at that point you relise actually how much you hate them , well me anyway . Swearing at the radio did not help much either

The Brizzle post rag ignore us 90% of any season, we know this. Until we actually score a decent cup run or have any sniff of promotion they are all over us like a rash & are all of a sudden massively pro Rovers. Let them & the shameless sheeds carry on. Those 'scored more than Rooney' billboards are an absolute classic! Apart from the weekly coverage they give us, or the coverage when we won the play-offs etc, etc Don't get me wrong, James Macca does a great job.

Not content with about ten pages of JPT coverage we see in the paper a shameful full page advert in todays Bristol Post.
Asking fans to buy season tickets for the football and rugby at BS3 offering them FREE shirts if they pay monthly !
Why are they trying to wind up the blue side of the City ? Disgraceful in my opinion You need to get out more.

Who gives a monkeys toss?? Football is cyclic Is it? Doesn't seem like it to me - I've had 20+ years of pretty much non stop decline relative to City. I see very little evidence of football being cyclical out there.

Arguing that football is cyclic seems to me to be an excuse not to do anything positive to affect your own club's standing anywhere I remember our first relegation to Div 4 in 2002. 'Law of averages' is what Dunford blamed it on. Utter cobblers then and utter cobblers now

Who cares if Bristol Sport (Men's Football Division) is plastered all over the place. A red shiny turd is STILL a turd after all.
.....and back in the room...... So will we catch Barnet? I think we will

Why are they trying to wind up the blue side of the City ? Disgraceful in my opinion So BCFC have taken out and paid for a full page advert. Serious question - what's 'shameful' about that?

I tell you what is a big wind up and that is the BCFC billboard in Eastville.
"More points than Chelsea" I think it says. On the right hand side of the M32 leaving Bristol, practically opposite Ikea, looking down on the former hallowed turf - someone tell me that wasn't deliberately planned.
I've never believed the myth that Rovers fans splodged the Banksy in Park Street with blue paint. If the same thing happened to that billboard...
Touched on earlier in this thread. Very similar to Bath RFC posters in Bristol, Bristol RFC posters in Gloucester, and the billboard spat between Leicester Tigers and Wasps in Coventry.

Where does it all end?
Sh*t had radio and tv adverts in recent years on commercial radio. I turned the radio over when I heard it! Haha!
It's a democratic right to be able to advertise your goods, wares and services, no matter how sh*t they are.
Censorship would be wrong, in my opinion. So, if you don't like any advertising, complain to ombudsman or just don't use the product.
Simples!

Why are they trying to wind up the blue side of the City ? Disgraceful in my opinion Harry, if Bristol City have paid for a full page advert then it has cost them a lot of money and no advertising dept in the world is likely to turn something like that down. Newspapers only survive on display advertising - it pays journalists wages - and with papers in terminal decline anyone who looked a gift horse like that in the mouth would almost certainly be sacked. Like others have said, we have to bite the bullet. If we had asked for a full page advert for our home game with Alfreton and were prepared to pay the price I can't imagine it would be turned down. We choose to spend our cash in other ways, fighting Sainsburys for instance.

Let's face it, both have traditionally under-performed for about a century. We've managed to fall back from there, and have gone from being stuck in a ditch to being stuck down a hole. I really don't see how shaking a fist at 'those b'stards, trying to get out of the ditch, let's sneer at them', helps our situation at all. In fact, it's a distraction and an embarrassment to boot.
I echo what many have said: let's stir ourselves to do similar and we migt form the mindset we need to improve.

I quite agree Irish the problem is certainly us, but why do we continue to take it lying down ? (not in the way you are thinking Faustus ) This is a challenge which someone like Doug Shields should relish. We need a PR strategy to give hope to our existing fan base and to persuade new fans to choose us instead of the alternatives. In the next three months we have to manage the way we present the outcome of our football season and the outcome of the Sainsburys case so that, whatever happens, we are ready with a positive vision for our people. Winners have their strategies in place and unveil the appropriate ones at the appropriate times to make sure the message they want to get across is heard loud and clear. Only losers "wait to see what happens". When the announcement about the new PR advisor was made it gave a faint glimmer of hope but increasingly it looks as though Doug is just another willing volunteer. When you think about it how can he possibly devote enough time to Rovers when he has just started a new business along with his partners at GingerComms in London. What would Harriet and James Scott think if he was neglecting their new venture to help out at Rovers ? But these are serious people and they have the qualities which could help inspire a serious fightback against Bristol City if we take the relationship with them seriously. If I was Nick Higgs I should take 30 000 out of the MSP Capital money to pay GingerComms to get us through the next three months and, whatever the outcome of the battles ahead, make sure we are smiling at the end of it.How do you know he has not ? He may of taken £60,000 out for we know True. If so, a month into a 3-month project, and allowing for ramp up, but then maybe expecting a strand of quick wins, how's it going?

I see very little evidence of football being cyclical out there. I have seen Bolton; Villa; Wolves; Burnley in what was Division 4. I have seen Leeds; Charlton; West Brom; Man City Bournemouth: Brentford: in Division 3. I have seen Chelsea; Spurs; West Ham; Man Utd in Division 2. So there are some cycles; of course the Prem has changed some of that now. We just need more cash

Lack of cash is not our problem and wazzing even more of it away is not the solution. Nor is waiting for a cycle: Uranus is on a cycle, but it's going to be a long time getting back to where it used to be.
