On a slightly different note - how many grounds have people seen Rovers play at? eg Watching Rovers at the Old and New Den counts as 2. Watching Rovers play Palace, Wimbledon and Charlton at Selhurst Park counts as 1. I'm sure I'll get 'hammered' (I saw the Gas get relegated in '94 at the Bolyne Ground)... but I reckon I'm up to 59. I have just had a quick count up, and I reckon I have seen Rovers on 168 different grounds- I'd like a medal please

168! I'd like to see that list - it doesn't seem possible! I'll see if I have any spare medals hanging around. I submit a paltry 60 (just remembered watching us get stuffed at Rushden & Diamonds a couple of times in the early noughties).

There are 3 grounds I can add to this list this season, I have been to all of them, but not with Rovers, I will drive to the next game if you can figure out which 3.

I'll get me coat. I'm sure it's a huge total with watching JUST the Gas at these grounds. To confirm it's any Rovers 1st team (including pre-season), FA Cup, League Cup, & JPT (excluding the FLT). I've just crept up to 61 as I remembered a mid-week trip to the Baseball Ground in the early 90's. Derby 3 Gas 1.

My Stats:
Overall: 55 With Rovers: 46
Of the Current 92: 34 Of the Current 92 with Rovers: 29
I've included friendlies in my totals. Also been to Reading, Swansea and Preston without seeing a game (work do, a gig, football museum) but I'm obviously not counting those in my total.

Managed three games yesterday with thanks to SkerriesGas;
H&W Welders Under 20's 2 - 0 Dundela Reserves. Entertaining and firey game, reasonable little ground probably a little short of Western League standard but by far off. Was more of a tick than anything else, enjoyed chatting to another couple of hoppers who are Crewe supporters there. No, they still haven't forgiven us for 1995.
Glentoran 1 - 1 Ballinamallard United. The main reason I traveled across, a trip to The Oval before it goes. Those of a certain age will remember the Irish Dancing Snow Game on Nick Hancock's Football Nightmares which, was at The Oval around 20 years ago (a Belfast Derby between Glens and Linfield). Ever since then I've wanted to go. The ground is similar to Springfield Park, less of an oval and more of an elliptical shape. It is however a classic ground. I walked the mile and a half from H&W Welders and met Andy and his son Liam who had sorted us out with some comps. The game was steady with Glens going 1-0 down just before half time and equalising just after. I missed both the goals getting beer. The ground however, fantastic. Views over the dockyard from the main stand were superb. Second half I went for a little walk round the ground and blimey, in my opinion a must visit for any hopper before it goes.
Dundalk 0 - 3 Sligo Rovers. Decided to sack off the Northern Ireland game when I realised Andy could drop me in Dundalk on his way home. We went via Toys R Us to get Liam some Pokemon cards and I got to Oriel Park just before kickoff. There's been a lot of talk in the last couple of weeks of Dundalk absolutely dominating the LOI due to their Europa League earnings. Well, this one didn't go to plan. Sligo defended well and took their chances when they came few and far between. Sligo ended up with ten men but managed a third while down to ten. Oriel Park is another ground we don't see the like of any more. Seats bolted to terracing, plenty of kids around and good bars. The League of Ireland is somewhere we should certainly be looking for players.
Cracking day with a late train back to Belfast followed by a terrible kebab and bed at 12 after a 5am start. Thanks to Andy for all his help, a long but fantastic day. I'll post some photos when I'm home.

Sneaking into grounds is a great pastime IMO, I mean it's disgusting and proper weird but totally worthwhile.

Made my first trip of the season to Broadhurst Park to watch FC United.
It was a 4-3 thriller of which I managed to miss 4 of the goals due to turing up late, having a piss and overstaying my welcome in the bar a half-time. Atmosphere in the 2nd half was absolutely cracking though and there's no doubt that the winner was 'bought' by the home fans as there was a blatant foul in the immediate to the goal (a 20 yard pile driver) but there no way on earth the ref was disallowing it in front of the rabid home end. Great afternoon!

Oh and Dundalk was OK... I think The Oval has to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing grounds in the world, I have to get there.

The left hand looks like they've cut the middle section out of the back of a warehouse to create a stand.
