Some of us are old enough to have been at white hart lane for the 9-0 defeat - god knows how the youth of today would have reacted to that!?! :-)

We got in about 20 mins after kick off and there didn't seem to be a segregated section for Rovers fans and we were just in with the spurs fans. In those pre scoreboard days we had to ask the score as we entered the ground, the answer we got from this gruff old spurs fan was "0-0 boring second division crap". I bet he was a bit happier at the end.

The crowd were singing we want 10 (ten) - it wasn't funny but as someone just said without the keeper playing as well as he did it could have been we want 15 (fifteen)

They were halcyon days Get to the game and pay on the gate Find the ground without sat nav or mobile or internet If there had been a forum then the moderator would have been busy that night! We may be old codgers but we got to enjoy football as it was meant to be!

BBC1 MOTD V Spurs and ITV Brighton 2 Rovers 8 - those were the days of no Sky football or endless cable channels or Internet forums but we had the iconic Green Un

There are down sides to getting older of course especially remembering all the details of games from the 70s I remember being on the pitch at eastville after a 4-0 or 4.1 beating against Brighton where they had a fine youngster up front who did a lot of damage - was his name Peter ward? As a kid the police left youngsters to it so you could get on and say hello to anyone you wanted to!

Having to compare the club to mighty Barnet? That says it all.

Having to compare the club to mighty Barnet? That says it all. Why not? At the moment they are our closest rivals.
