"Yes, 2,000 for that sort of trip is a very good following indeed, but ultimately all it really tells us is that Bristol Rovers is a much, much bigger club than almost all the others in his league, not least Barnet. It shouldn't be down here at all, and it's an appalling failure on the part of the club that it finds itself playing so far below what should be it's 'natural' level based on the size of its support. It's akin to us slogging away in the Ryman Premier.
It's only a matter of time before Rovers go up. Indeed, it will probably be this year that they do so, and quite possibly as champions, but instances like this only serve as a reminder of what an excellent effort it is on our part to be five points clear of them at this stage in the season."

Bang on first paragraph (and probably the 2nd)

We may be just about the biggest club in the conference but grimsby and wrexham must push us close with their historys. The way the fans have stuck with the club after years of dross makes me proud to still be a gashead, but until we have a league team with a decent ground such as the teams we used to beat, swansea, reading, city, then nobody outside bristol will think we are anything but minnows.

Stop all this big money, big club bulls**t.
I'd take a reasonably sized club, that is well run, posting profits every year and living within its means in a nice stadium. Is that too much to ask for?

Stop all this big money, big club bulls***. I'd take a reasonably sized club, that is well run, posting profits every year and living within its means in a nice stadium. Is that too much to ask for? 20 years of empirical evidence suggests it is on all fronts. We are massive - I remember standing next to at least 4 other people at Boston when they had Jason Lee and Julian Joachim in the side; what a golden era for the club that was when we could go to place like Boston in League 2 and be played off the park. The way things have gone I will settle for still having a club to support in 5 years time. It would be nice if it was still at Conference but beggars can't be choosers apparently. We need to readjust our expectations.

I think their thin squad is probably starting to take his toll but 5 points ahead and a much better goal difference should be a big enough advantage for them.
It's only natural for them to get twitchy. I dont think we are their only challengers though, or that support makes much difference (which it didnt last week for us)...

Numerically the support last week was superb, vocally it was awful. Very true, although our players should be good enough for most teams in this league. It was strangely quiet last week for an away game with so many gas, I guess we were just waiting for something to happen and it never did.

I remember when we used to beat teams like York and Hartlepool. That's just a dream, now.

To be honest we never used to beat them very often - that's looking at the past through rose tinted specs I fear. I just dream of losing 2-1 at York some day...... Not to fear in a few years I'm sure we will be pissing all over the likes of Paulton and Frome when we're the massivist most giantly enormous club in the Southern League.

what about the third para? Despite being nearly wiped out at Arnhem, they have provided sterling service ever since, notably in the Falklands campaign.......
