This isn't to call us a massive club or go big up our away support like teds will probably think but...
Obviously we're not in the football league but our away support on average would see us ranked 29th in the football league. Above championship clubs like Blackpool, reading and Wigan. Also above top of league one swindon and plymouth of league two.
We'd be above... 5 championship clubs 17 league one clubs 22 league two clubs
As I said this isn't to big our support up its a thread to congratulate all gasheads for the support this season. The numbers have been absolutely fantastic!
Give yourself a pat on the back and get your arse to dartford

I've always wondered why our away support is so good and home support so - average. I know 6,000 is excellent for the Conference, but over the past 20 years or so we've had nothing to boast about. It would be interesting to see where we rank in that table when converted to home attendances. Much, much lower, I imagine. The hovel of a stadium we call the Mem doesn't help much, of course.

It would be interesting to look at our away support as a percentage of the home gate (less away fans of course). I reckon it must be around 20-25% which is high for any club, and shows what long term potential we have if we can only get back in the league and get the new stadium sorted......

What could be interesting to find out (Although I have no idea about how to actually go about it) is how many people do both? I'm sure there are plenty of Gasheads who only do home games, but at the same time I imagine there to be a decent number who will only do away games due to a variety of factors such as geography.

It's a least partly a function of having such a broad base of support who don't go to many games (demonstrated by the Wembley 40,000). So there are plenty of Gasheads who move away from the West Country who will go to a few aways in their general vicinity
Also, it's because as a group, we are excellent

Rovers average home gate this season so far (Conference only) is 6008. Average away support at the Memorial Stadium is 213. So the average number of Gasheads at home games this season so far is 5795. The average Rovers away support in Conference games so far is exactly 800. (Excludes Cup games and is based on published away support, so excludes Gas who went into non-segregated areas of grounds). So Rovers average away support so far is 18% (800 over 5795) of the average Rovers home crowds, excluding away fans at the Mem. The mean attendance at Rovers away Conference games is 2428. On average, Rovers fans have formed 32.9% of the crowd at Rovers away games. Read more: gasheads.org/thread/2153/away-support#ixzz3PZZTQJwV

The mem isn't an atractive place at all, the only thing it has going for it is the view over Bristol and that away supporters get a soaking when it rains. A decent stadium and we'd atract 9-12k I reckon.
