... What would we do with our squad, maintain it and look for pinpoint signings or keep a handful, get rid of the rest and build from scratch?
We have a squad that is mostly filled with hardworking players who seem to understand each other well, and we all know team chemistry is vital, but are them good enough (or young enough) to play League football? Are we better off betting on strong teamwork and tactical discipline or building a squad that doesn't "reek" of Conference football?

Most of them are young enough. I think with a couple of additions they would do OK - mid-table-ish because what is lacking in ability is made up for in attitude.

I firmly believe that our current squad wouldn't have got relegated last season. With a couple of decent additions, I have no reason to believe this squad would struggle in League 2 next season.

Well this team is certainly better than the one we had last season that got us relegated. We have a winning mentality that we haven't seen in years, I am sure if we did go up the momentum would carry on and we would have maybe our best ever season at the higher level.

Disagree The current team would hold its own at mid to lower mid table at best. Thats not a bad thing, if supporters accept that, which they do not. Our attendances would be exactly the same, perhaps worse if it was obvious that we had no chance of top six place.
It will require some negative cash flow funding, working capital to you and I and where, pray tell, is that coming from? The mismanagement continues to end up on the pitch

We have a fair few decent players, good lads, hardworking lads that I think the majority of course if we do go up would deserve their chance. Where we'd need to add in my opinion is some of the older squad members, they're great in this league but can they step back up? I do hope so but I'm not sure.

The squad is as good as Burton Albions and they're doing well this season. No need for anymore than 4 signings if we go up as long as we don't lose any of the squad to league 1/championship teams.

What a great way to undermine the team. Are we winning so many games that some of you wish to put doubt in several minds as to should they be retained?. Some players do read these threads for god sake.
Better still, if the sh*t go up should they keep the team or get new players in?
I say get 15 or 16 new ones in. That should sap the confidence of any that read the forum.

Keep what we have player wise - we would hold our own......but, Somehow......someway.......get rid of those that relegated us in the first place......sadly though the board will stay in the hope they may recoup something IF we get a new ground.
Sadly, I think we will always be a non-league club, as long as higgs (pretends to) run our club.....

We are a bunch of Gasheads "gassing' as we would in a pub or at work and our conversations are usually based on speculation, conjecture and personal opinion. If the players and manager took any notice of our ramblings, DC would have packed it all in after three games this season and we'd have a bunch of neurotics on the field

Back to the OP perhaps the fact we lost to Tranmere suggests we will need to make improvements if we do get promoted, whether the likes of Taylor & Gosling are good enough for league football will only be known once they are given a chance to prove themselves?

I only asked what we should do with our squad in case we go up - a scenario in which i strongly believe - and gave two opposing and perfectly normal courses of action regarding squad building. Seriously, have a damn chill pill. No need to blow a gasket over a simple question.

if we got back into the promised land we'd be loaded so could afford better players.
stick £5 on each ticket, cancel the pasties and bring in Prawn Sandwiches at £6 a pop, sponsors will be queueing up, we'll get a £3m golden hello from the FL, plus money for ground improvements, £790,000 a season from Sky, and most importantly Sainsbury's have pledged to pay us (in cash) the day we get promoted.
sorted.
Premier Lge here we come.

I think them are good enough to keep us up as long as we get a decent striker. We have struggled in that respect ever since we sold Lambert.
