No. Have previously written volumes on him, none of it good. Won't bother trying to track it all down on the old forum.

I can't decide whether Eliot Richards is lucky or not, possibly having been jettisoned from a sinking ship twice in as many seasons. Real shame for Danny Woodards he was a top player at his best, I guess he'll be retiring now if he's injured again.

should we offer richards a second chance? tin hats on, fire away You know what, if there was any idea that he showed he cared about the club that helped nurture his career and ability, and it was really the second chance, I would say yes. Thing is, when he signed pro, his last couple of years he wasn't consistent enough. He had many chances. We would all be waiting to be wowed (because theres no doubt he had the ability) but it happened less frequently than I thought was right for us. I understand he wasn't always played in his preferred position, but overall after years of watching him, I would say no, let the fella go his way, and we'll go ours. They seem to be going in different directions anyway..

should we offer richards a second chance? tin hats on, fire away No - not the type of player we need really. If we sign someone of that type they need to be a straight up fox in the box style goalscorer. That's not Richards. He's not an off the shoulder striker. He likes to pick it up from deep and run and we have plenty that do that already. I don't think he would fit our style of player. Also, I don't think he's very good.

A chance to slate some old players you say? Well how could any of us resist!
Ali Gibb - what an absolute turd. Wayne Carlisle - total b0ll0ck face. Marcus Bignot - f**king tallywhacker. Danny Boxall? Danny B3llend more like. Thom Ramsut - Thom Ram-shut-the-f**k-off.
Ahhh I love these nostalgia threads.

I see Taylor as an intelligent linking type of player who lacks that extra yard of pace and invention on the ball to beat his man. Richards at his best was running at players and being direct - his vision and link play were always poor I thought and he had tunnel vision a lot of the time. But he did have a shot on him that Taylor doesn't seem to have. Neither of them is much cop at getting to or finishing chances in the box but out of the 2 I'll take Taylor any day of the week because he's more likely to make those around him better than Richards is.

Richards was unlucky in that he has the ability but all the Rovers useless managers we had played him out of position, and, even if he had a good game would drop him the following game. Yes he was unlucky, and he wasn't treated well by Mr Ward. Yes I would have him back until the end of the season

the manager has built a squad who work very hard for each other and sport good beards. I can't see that he's going to jettison what is working for the sake of a clean-shaven bloke who never seemed to work very hard

Regarding Richards, I'll say what I said on another thread: it's time to let him go.
He has the ability and a skillful finishing capacity that sets him apart but he's lost himself (maybe due to straight-up laziness, maybe mismanagement, maybe both) and he's not a hard worker, plus I can imagine him getting injured a lot in this league where people tackle way harder amd get away with it.

I believe that this is still scientifically unproven, although it was mentioned in Stephen Hawking's book and I think latest theories depend on your view of bending the space/time continuum and the single unifying theory. It all sounds pretty hair-brained, I know

DC said yesterday that he's after a centre half, if Woodards is fit and not injured then i think on short term deal until the end of the season he could be a very good signing, can also play full back and midfield, quality utility player at conference level.
