To me, DC will have listed his areas for strengthening/players. I hope, despite players and/or agents waiting for better deals, that any business is done as soon as possible so the team can gel quickly. In the past we have not been ready for the start of seasons etc and play catch up. We have two weeks off after Nuneaton so he can get on with it and get them out on the training pitch to start getting to know each other. I think he'll be keen to do this

Parkes in under 24 so we are due reimbursement if he goes and there is no contract. Trotman needs to be signed on a 1 yr deal whilst Lockyer would do us a favour if he didn't leave until the end of the season. It's good to see players progress with the coaching set up too, perhaps the most astute signings will the retention of our own players (plus Darrel Clarke). I can't honestly see lockyer going unless he/we get an offer too good to reject, likewise Parkes buit if we do then that will swell DC's transfer budget. I can't see Lockyer going until he can pass a ball !

Plus why pay them two weeks extra wages when they wonm't be able to kick a ball in anger during that period?

I don't know, I'm just saying he has time to sort it before matches intervene again.
And paying them to train, settle in and get to know their team mates seems like a reasonable expense

I can't see Lockyer going until he can pass a ball ! That seems reasonable to me. But would we prefer to keep him as he is, or learn to pass the ball so that he can go elsewhere? Of course it's also possible that another club may teach him one of the basics of his trade.

Not sure we should be interested in signing players who are prepared to sign for another club rather than wait a week or two! I assume the players we intend signing will already be under contract so it's not as though they aren't going to get paid whilst waiting.

IMO, we need to sign a natural goal scorer, Mat Tubbs is the man, unlike Taylor, who is a good footballer but chokes most of the time, Mat Tubbs is proven and is the real deal. Need to start planning for the Football League, build a team around mat tubbs, browner and trotman, what Clarke was thinking about dropping trotters for the hapless McChrystal, baffles me,I really like Trotman. UTG I heard that Neal would struggle to get through two matches in two days so Clarke left him on the bench. Better to keep your centrebacks unchanged during a game.

I heard Rovers will be singing old Lang Syne as soon as the window opens.
Darrell turned to the veteran Scottish striker after young Lang Syne demanded £5000 a week and a 3 year contract.

If a bid came in for the Beard of say £250K would we take it ?? I believe he only has a 12 month Contract so would be allowed to talk to clubs in Jan I think I would. There's some pretty good midfielders in the Conference - Whittaker at Macclesfield, for example, impressed me on Saturday. you would seriously give this guy up? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ? After all the commitment and passion that he gives??? No way, yes does lack quality in some areas of his game but boy does he make it up in energy and drive that I think is impossible to find in another player that would be available to us! He is like a fan out there on that pitch and is probably a big personality in the dressing room so sod your 250k I'll take my chances on him plus he's always fit!!!!

Sinclair's one big fault is his first touch isn't brilliant, and in the Championship it has to be very good 2nd big issue is his shooting / goal scoring. As you say, if he had everything he wouldn't be a 27 year old non-lge player.

I think his tackling would get him into trouble against more artful victims further up the leagues.
Better all round if he stays with us.

Parkes has been on other clubs radar for some time and i fully expect him to go if not January then in the summer when his contracrt expires, likewise with Brown, especially as the England C manager has gone public that he doesnt expect them to be available to him in the near future, read into that what you will for brown it's surely nothing more sinister than age? he's the second oldest player in recent squads, at 24 and a half. Parkes will be 23 this month so I guess he's ok for age for a while. England C don;t play many matches each season. Just the autumn tournament? and occasional other match.

In post-match Radio Bristol interview, Marcus Stewart very bullish about getting 2 or 3 players in. Not squad players, but to go directly into the team. !!

He was asked about players coming in and he said he'd like 2/3, not that he was expecting that. He also said "if the funds were provided"

He actually said that 2/3 would be the minimum if we were serious about promotion.
