No, not TRASH, Carstairs or Wycombe, I noticed this from the Barnet forum: www.onlybarnet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8657It would be a real sickener for them if they were denied league football because their lease wouldn't allow it. Has to be said that the set up at the Hive is really nice and there is no question that the facilities are up to scratch for the Football League. For the record, I hope Rovers continue to improve and oust Barnet from top spot by the end of the season, so any dispute is academic.

Not sure why? It seems their current lease at the Hive only allows for Conference football. The lease will only be changed by agreement following a full local public consultation, which does not seem automatic - it doesn't help that they have had to move "out of area" to go to their current ground in Harrow and the council in the borough of Barnet seem to have been less than helpful as well.

I don't think anyone would truly like to see us finish second but be promoted automatically due to a technicality such as that. Surely Barnet LBC recognise that it would be beneficial for the area and would want to push it through? What marked difference between playing league and conference football is there anyway? Crowd sizes obviously but then they won't fluctuate too much and you can only ever sell out to capacity which is still possible in a cup game.

In the past, if the Conference champions ground is not suitable, then the Football League side due to be relegated has been "saved". In this case, if Barnet become Champions, and their ground is not allowed into the Football League, then suspect only one team i.e. play off winners will be promoted from the Conference. Obviously, I don't actually know.

Déjà vu? Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Absolutely - and as others have said, if the Conference champions are denied, the league club gets a reprieve. I was impressed with the Hive as a facility and it is much better than other league grounds - so it would not be denied by the league, but I sense Harrow council may be a little sniffy about it as Barnet are not their traditional local team. You would surely expect sense to prevail. However, let's make the argument academic, by winning the division.

Not sure the one up rule as ever applied since two teams were allowed up from the Conference? If it does start to look like the are going to be denied promotion I wonder if there results would tail off if players knew they could go up? Could MA even jump ship if he was offered a job by a league club?

Underhill is shortly expected to become a school. Back2Barnet are still working on getting permission for a new stadium next door to the old one and the lease issue was resolved by the Labour run Harrow council two years ago. The politics in Harrow council have been a bit confusing over the last two years with a breakaway group of Labour councillors joining the Tories to take control. While they were in control they made a statement that they would go to public consultation, however they have now lost power in the May elections and the former labour group are back in charge. They have no commitment to public consultation and it is expected the lease change will be implemented when required.
The point to remember here is that the Hive is not intended to be our permanent home (Although that may end up being the case) and the lease change is only for the minimum required by the football league for entry (10 years) so can only be implemented if we gain promotion or it will no longer be long enough.

Macclesfield and Kidderminster both won the Conference but were denied FL status due to their stadiums not being up to scratch. In Macc's case,Chester who were actually in the FL,played at Moss Rose for two seasons when their own stadium was being refurbed. However still not deemed good enough for their own team.My least fav ground ,Macclesfield.

Do we know whether the Mem is up to standard? This was a question I posed pre season but the consensus was that we would have no problem.Apparantly one major criteria is seated accommodation but our 'Tent' covers this situation.

It's now the training ground of the London Broncos, believe it or not. Apparently Edgware Town F.C. played their opening games of the 2014-15 Spartan South Midlands League Division 1 season at Underhill, while their Silver Jubilee Park ground was being refurbished. Bit like Winterbourne United playing temporarily at the Mem if we ever move to the UWE!

From the link in the OP the posters on Barnet's own forum don't seem to be of a similar opinion?

Thanks for the explanation, although as Topper points out, some on your own forum are not as clear as you are about the situation.
